Fortnite’s Nickmercs Leaves 100 Thieves

In a surprising turn of events, one of Fortnite’s biggest streamers and best controller players has left his longtime clan, 100 Thieves. Run by Call of Duty streamer, Nadeshot, 100 Thieves is one of the biggest esports clans with players and streamers competing at the highest levels of games like League of Legends, Call of Duty, and of course, Fortnite: Battle Royale. While it seems like pressure had been building between Nickmercs and Nadeshot behind the scenes for a while, it came as a surprise to many of his subscribers when Nickmercs announced his sudden retirement from 100 thieves over Twitter and Youtube.

Why did Nickmercs leave 100 Thieves?

Articulated carefully in a recent Youtube video, Nickmercs claimed that 100 Thieves CEO Nadeshot simply made promises that he didn’t keep. Nickmercs felt that he had been taken advantage of at a critical point in his career when his Twitch and Youtube channel had started to rise due to his success in Fortnite. While Nickmercs was careful and civil in his explanation video to his fans, it seems like in the end it’s all about the money. Nadeshot apparently promised Nick a percentage of earnings and never followed through. To be clear, this is not meant to be a shot against Nickmercs. At the end of the day, the esports industry is a multi-million dollar industry, and joining a clan is a business deal. Nickmercs felt like he wasn’t getting what he was owed and left own his own accord.

Nickmercs Joins Faze Clan

Within the same week, Nickmercs tweeted #FazeUp and released another video on Youtube titled “I Joined Faze Clan”. It has been a rocky month for esports clans, especially Faze. With the current lawsuit by Faze’s most famous member, Tfue, it seems like Faze Clan is trying to shift the negative press and headlines away from Turner (Tfue) and focus on their recent acquisition of one of the most famous Fortnite streamers in the game.

Nickmercs had a lot to say about his new clan, but all in all he is very happy with his decision. “They’re taking care of me…and then some,” Nickmercs says in his recent video. “I like seeing the loyalty.” He said that when he joined 100 Thieves, he wasn’t careful and didn’t know anything about the business side. However, now he has the right managers taking care of things for him and everything Faze has promised him has been signed on a paper contract, unlike the verbal agreement he claimed to have had with 100 Thieves. Nickmercs showed off his new Faze jersey in his video, and it seems like what was bad news for 100 Thieves has become the best news Faze clan has had all month.

“I’m looking for a home away from home…and they’re gonna treat me like family.”
