With the release of Fortnite season 9, like always, there have been a lot of changes. Unfortunately, we’ve been forced to say goodbye to the pump shotgun and hello to a spam meta. Of course, there is the new combat shotgun in the game. However, seeing that we’ve gone from a season where there were three different shotguns (pump, tactical, and heavy) to now one, it’s easy to see the direction Epic Games is taking. On the other end of the spectrum, there are now four different spray/spam rapid-fire weapons in the game: drum gun, silenced SMG, minigun, and the tactical assault rifle.
Don’t get me wrong; I love Fortnite and I actually think the game is quite balanced right now. However, a lot of players detested these new changes. One popular streamer that has found a way to use this new meta to his advantage is PS4 console player Upshall from the Obey gaming clan. These 2 game-changing Fortnite controller and console settings will boost frame rates and strengthen your aim assist.

1. Increase Controller Targeting Sensitivity to 0.610 (boost aim assist)
How do you boost aim assist in Fortnite?
As explained in his video, increasing controller targeting sensitivity basically boosts aim assist. This is important especially in a new game meta filled with drum guns, SMGs and tactical assault rifles. Put it this way, if spraying your weapon works, increasing this setting makes it work better. You’ll still have a lot of aim mobility when not in scoped/aiming mode. But when you do aim, you should feel a much tighter draw toward enemy players.
2. Turn off Replay Recording Settings
How do you boost frame rates on console Fortnite?
Fortnite PC players have the advantage of advanced texture and graphical settings like shadows and draw distance which they can switch on and off at will. Since controller players don’t have those options, there are limited ways to boost frame rates. Originally discovered and posted by Ghost Gronky, turning off the replay recording settings significantly boosts frame rates.
Turn off the following settings under the game settings menu:
Record Replays – off
Record Large Team Replays – off
Record Creative More Replays – off
While frame rates are commonly thought to simply boost graphical performance, higher frame rates can also improve gameplay and overall game performance. Specifically, you should see a much higher aim assist slow down when aiming at enemies.
Those are two game-changing settings for Fortnite console players. Have some settings of your own you’d like to share? Let us and our readers know in the comments below.
