On August 31, Epic Games removed the B.R.U.T.E., also known as mechs, from every game mode on Fortnite: Battle Royale. In a tweet on their Fortnite account, Epic Games states:
The B.R.U.T.E. has been temporarily disabled from all playlists while we resolve an issue caused by its air stomp attack.
We're working to resolve this issue and will provide an update when we have more information.

Famous Fortnite streamer SypherPK caught the exact bug on his stream. The video shows a mech flying in the air and landing at least four squares away from SypherPK yet the famous streamer was still eliminated by this attack. Aside from the rockets and shotgun shots the mech has in its arsenal, it should only be able to damage players with it’s melee stomp or when landing on them directly and making physical contact. Due to this glitch, Epic Games triaged the bug and brought the mechs back after the issue had been resolved.
The mech is incredibly bugged right now.. please remove until further notice. pic.twitter.com/s6xR7nzRIh

However, every Fortnite streamer has unanimously expressed extreme disgust for the mechs and their overpowered abilities.
Even with superior building skills, it is nearly impossible to survive when faced head-on by a mech. Piloting mechs and spamming their missiles and shotgun shots takes very little skill, which is why many casual players (mostly younger players) love it. The mechs give casual players the ability to easily defeat much higher-skilled players. Literally, with a mech and the right circumstances, anyone can defeat a professional Fortnite player.
