Check out our full guide of Chapter 5 Season 2 as it gives you everything you need to know to get victory royale in this season.
After a few days since the release, Fortnite has now launched the first update of the season. This update has brought back the extremely popular villain, Midas. The character fans got acquainted with almost 4 years ago back in Chapter 2 Season 2. Ever since, he has tried to come back for revenge in events. In Fortnitemares event, he and his shadow army came to take back what was called The Agency. Now, he is back again, bringing his new unique skin, a mythic weapon, and a memorable LTM.
Fortnite Midas Update: Midas’ Skin
The new style of the popular Midas, called Ascendant Midas, is going to be in the item shop on March 26. This cosmetic version represents him with an armor, beautifully marked with his OG golden pistols, gloves, and a unique crown. There will be the Golden King’s Cape as the back bling, the Golden Touch pickaxe, and the dragon-style glider, called the Golden Ascension, in the bundle. Fans can also get this skin for free through the participation of the Midas cup, The Rise of Midas, and achieving higher ranks.
Fortnite Midas Update: Midas’ Drum Gun
Midas is known for his exclusive Drum Gun, a weapon with noticeable DPS, reaching 170 for the rare version. The gun used to be obtainable only in the mythic style, but now he has brought you both the rare and epic versions, available to be upgraded using the Mod Bench. The mythic Drum Gun is yet to appear in the battle royale. However, the rare and epic versions are currently accessible from the Midas NPC in the Marigold yacht on the west of the map. It’s strange to see Midas as an NPC, as he used to be one of the powerful bosses in Fortnite guarded by Henchmen. Now, he acts as a friend, offering you his gun unless you betray him and start shooting at him. There are also yellow-colored Vending Machines, mostly in gas stations, offering you the gun.
If you’re an OG, you would definitely remember the yacht from C2S2. It was one of the most populated POIs in that season, initially hosted by Meowscles, and then taken over by Deadpool. The POI contained a vault with some legendary chests and plenty of resources such as barrels for healing. Now, it seems that you can’t find any key for the vault, or maybe it will be added later this season.
Fortnite Midas Update: Floor Is Lava LTM
This update has also brought one of the most memorable Fortnite LTMs, Floor Is Lava. The mode was first introduced in C1S8, and it rapidly became a popular LTM, attracting famous streamers to experience it. The concept of this mode is similar to the battle royale, as the last one standing wins, but there is one catch. Below your feet, there is active lava gradually rising, and it will soon cover the ground. Once you spot the lava, start building and reach higher ground, because falling into the lava takes 15 damage to your HP. The Midas event is the same, but with golden lava, and also scenic volcanic eruptions visible from a distance.
Fortnite Midas Update: The Chains of Hades
The second Hades’ mythic weapon, The Chains of Hades, is now usable in this update. The Harbinger SMG is the first mythic weapon assigned for this boss, accessible when you eliminate him. However, the second mythic gun is easy to find in standard chests. It looks similar to Harpoon as you can pull items and enemies towards yourself, but it’s unlimited. It also deals 40 damage for the first two attacks, and 70 for the final hit, totally 150. If you get too close to someone, you can eliminate them with this weapon, as its mobility is so fast, making it hard for your enemy to hit you.
Fortnite Midas Update: Midas’ Quests
This update offers new quests, featuring the story behind Midas’ return to this season. The quests are in five different phases set for different intervals. They are “Midas Rises” (19 March), “Et Tu, Brutus?” (20 March), “Jules vs. the Golden Touch” (March 25), “Myths of Midas” (March 27), and “The Great Marigold Yacht Heist” (March 28). At the moment, only two quests are available. The event will be live until April 2nd, and players can have a chance to complete the quests and earn rewards.
The “Midas Rises” quest asks you to do the following tasks:
- Collect Bars (200)
- Investigate Midas’ Jail Cell: Head to The Underworld. Find Midas’ jail cell below Hades’ Altar room. Look for the reboot card and the cuffs.
- Corroborate with Marigold on Midas’ escape: You should visit one of Scrying Pool locations to find Marigold and talk to her. One can be found in Mount Olympus.
- Hit an Olympian Boss with Chains of Hades
- Damage players with Chains of Hades or a Harbinger SMG (750)
For the second mission, “Et Tu, Brutus?”, you should complete these quests:
- Hire Specialists in different matches (3)
- Purchase from Midas Vending Machines or Service Stations
- Scan The Marigold for recording devices: You must find the recording device. It’s in front of the vault of the yacht.
- Confront Brutus: You can find Brutus at Pleasant Piazza.
Fortnite Midas Update: Midas Cup
Eager to get the Ascendant Midas skin for free? Jump on Fortnite on Sunday, March 24, to take part in the Rise of Midas cup and compete with your opponents. The tournament is for solo players and in Build mode. Once you start the competition, you can play up to 10 matches in three hours. If you aim to get the full Midas’ bundle, make sure to perform well and earn high points. The first reward is very simple to get, as you only need at least eight scores to unlock the Rise of Midas Loading Screen.
Fortnite Midas Update: Golden Chicken and Shield Bubble Junior
If you remember the funny chickens introduced first in C2S6, as they can make you float and give you meat for healing once you eliminate them, it’s good to know that they are back in a different version. Now, there are golden chickens roaming in the map. If you kill them, there will be a stack of 12 gold bar for you. But, the best strategy is to collect their golden eggs as each egg is worth 350 gold bars, useful to quickly finish one of Midas’ quests. On top of that, there is a new shield bubble in the battle royale. This is called Shield Bubble Jr. as it’s a nerfed version of the original, creating a smaller shield zone and lasting for 12 seconds. A good method is to put the shield on your vehicle as it will protect you while driving.
- Golden chickens
- Shield Bubble Jr.
