Epic Games’ Fortnite battle royale has now entered the second section of Chapter 5. Chapter 5 Season 1 introduced many exciting features, not only on the battle royale map such as new POIs, bosses, and weapons, but also in terms of new modes. The season featured three cool additions, including LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. LEGO Fortnite takes you to the world of LEGO as you play with your own customized LEGO-style skin and try to eliminate monsters and survive. Rocket Racing offers you to race with your friends, coming from the collaboration with Rocket League. Fortnite Festival represents playing as a member of a band associated with many famous singers’ performances such as Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”.
Chapter 5 Season 2, known as Myths & Mortals, is now in the hands of players. A new battle pass, exciting new POIs, and new items are set to take Fortnite fans to the mythic world of traditional gods. Here is a full guide of what Season 2 offers:
Fortnite C5S2: Pre Mini-Event
Prior to the beginning of season 2, Epic brought the first sign of Greek mythology with a mini-event that took place in Season 1. The live giant-hand event occurred at the Ruined Reels. First, the ground shook several times with earthquakes, creating fractures. After a few hours, players observed a colossal hand emerging from the ground. The hand was tied by chains attached to a big chest.

The map of Chapter 5 Season 2 introduces some new locations. Although the north-east and south-west have remained unchanged from the previous season, the northwestern and southeastern areas of the map have brought new POIs. In addition, there are many smaller locations that guarantee worthwhile loot and provide opportunities to upgrade your weapons.

The battle pass of this season presents legends from Greek mythology. There are 7 skins plus 1 secret skin that will be released later. Here is the list of all the new characters:
Poseidon
Poseidon skin is a familiar name in the world of video games. If you are a fan of Horizon Forbidden West, you may remember this name as one of GAIA’s subordinate functions. As he is the god of the seas, you might expect something more heroic, but Epic, as usual, has set a character with a hilarious taste that actually looks like the iconic Rippley vs Sludge skin.

The name Hades is also familiar among Aloy’s fans as he, in Horizon Zero Dawn, is the main villain she has to battle. The god of the underground, with the golden gas mask and green light in his eyes, has a very cool style in the battle pass of Season 2. There is also a purple version of Hades, called Lethean. The green color loading screen with a carriage glider makes this skin worth unlocking.

The classic snake-haired woman is now in Fortnite. As one of the three Gorgons, capable of turning anyone who gets closer to her into stone, she represents a fashionable skin in the current battle pass with a blue hair as the original skin and a pink-color one as the Gorgon Warrior version. A double knife with a blue-eye shield as the back bling offers a majestic character introduced by Epic.

The three-headed hound of Hades couldn’t obviously have its original skin in the battle royale. Therefore, Epic has brought this single-headed dog-style muscular skin combined with a cool cyan color. Flames coming from his arms make the skin look much more awesome. The Immortal and Blazing Fire Cerberus, respectively in blue and orange colors, are additional styles of this skin.

When it comes to sharing love and beauty, which goddess could be better than Aphrodite? Her short white hair, along with a bright white and gold outfit beautifully marked with a heart symbol, make her even more lovely. A golden sword, also with a heart icon, and an interesting emote featuring a cute fully pink-colored girl taking a selfie, are just a few signs of this marvelous well-designed character. The second style she has is in full pink color with yellow highlights.

In Greek mythology, Artemis is the goddess of the hunt. It can be claimed that she is the most stylish skin in Chapter 5 Season 2 for now. The beautiful blue-colored hair matched with the outfit and gloves, revealing stars of the constellations, and nice white scarf is undoubtedly remarkable. The attractive blue eyes with red lipstick make the face look so gorgeous. As a huntress, she also carries three cyan-colored arrows. She has two more styles: Immortal in red and Elysian Artemis. You can also put on her mask.

The god of the sky, lightning, and thunder, completely familiar among God of War players, is now taking the lead among Greek legends of Fortnite. His face might seem a little younger than expected, but he is still stunning with his golden armor and a belt with shotgun ammo. In his other styles, you can change his armor color and also his hairstyle.

Grim Gate
This area is the house of the dog-style guard, Cerberus. You need to pass this gate to reach The Underworld. It’s located on almost the western side of the map, between The Underworld and Restored Reels. In Greek mythology, this area is also known as Pluto’s Gate.

Could you defeat the dog and pass through Grim Gate? Now, you are about to face Hades’ territory. It’s situated on the west of the island of Helios among the river. The terrifying atmosphere of this POI warns you that there will be a hard battle with a powerful boss awaiting you. It’s worth noting he has no plans to spare you.

Usually, this arena faces a hectic, chaotic welcoming of the players every single match. Many prefer to land on this POI. So, needless to say that you should quickly look for weapons as it might get so intense. Otherwise, you will be sent back to the lobby. This is the home of a god of war, Ares, located all the way to the bottom of the map, below Mount Olympus.

Head to the south-east of the map where the great Zeus resides. It is the most exquisite POI in Season 2. It’s built on top of the mountains and marked with a giant Zeus sculpture. Once you get there, Zeus himself will come for you. Make sure to be well-equipped as he is not an easy boss to take down.

There are 9 new weapon bunkers around the map. They offer decent loot from legendary chests, stacks of gold, and a Mod Bench letting you add your preferred attachments to your weapons. The catch is they don’t open in the first circle, and you have to wait until the third circle forms. So you can conceal a nearby bunker from other players with some builds until it automatically opens.

Huntress DMR
Epic is always interested in adding new DMRs. Regardless of many critics the company receives, even from famous streamers complaining about how useless they are, the new season owns new types of this gun. The Huntress DMR weapon might look pretty fruitful, as its DPS is almost 90. The DMR can also get attachments at the Mod Bench. You can get the mythic version of this gun, named Zeus’ Huntress DMR, by taking down Zeus.

This new SMG is an accurate gun with some restrictions in terms of recoil, as you have to make sure you are shooting at the point of your liking. However, it can’t compete with Thunder Burst SMG, as it is still very solid in Fortnite. A downside of Harbinger SMG, specifically in the mythic version, is the low fire rate at only 9.5. Defeat Hades in The Underworld POI to get Hades’ Harbinger SMG.

Gatekeeper Shotgun
Gatekeeper shotgun is a gun that was supposed to be a good replacement for the OG tactical shotgun. Its design almost reminds of that popular weapon. Although it can’t compete with the Tactical, it’s still very advantageous in close-ranged battles. The only strange feature about this gun is the magazine size, which only covers 3 bullets, unlike other shotguns that have at least 5. Even the mythic version, obtainable when you eliminate Cerberus, can only hold 3 bullets. So, maybe you would rather have an epic style of the gun to be able to use the attachments to increase the ammo slots. But if you couldn’t upgrade it, you have to be cautious about its small magazine size as you will then need to reload more times. Moreover, it reloads all shells at once, instead of one by one.

This is the most unique item added to Chapter 5 Season 2. Fortnite now brings flying ability to the game, allowing players to soar through the skies and watch the entire scenic map from above. You can fly in the sky and once you spot an enemy, activate the diving ability to crash down them. You can use the dash button every few seconds to boost your mobility, and you can infinitely dodge roll to left and right to avoid taking damage. However, make sure not to fly permanently as the wings will start burning, and you will then take fall damage. The only catch about this item is that you become an easy target in the sky, as the sound effect also spoils your location in the sky. This flying skill, regardless of the drawbacks, brings a satisfying feeling to Fortnite players who are accustomed to gliding over the map.

The most powerful weapon currently in the game is this gun. It’s very simple to find, as you only need to look for new golden god chests located in the new POIs. Once activated, you throw three bolts, dealing 40 damage for the first two and 80 for the final shot, all while being in the air. The stack size is 3. The bolts can go through the builds, so make sure to find a safe place if someone is attacking you. It’s extremely powerful, especially in third parties, as you can hit the enemies with a massive amount of damage. Probably, there is one big disadvantage with this gun: you can’t cancel the triple firing animation once you pull the trigger. You get suspended in the air for a couple of seconds, making you an easy target for snipers. Since sniper rifles are still in the battle royale, you have to be careful not to get headshot sniped.

Chains of Hades
Aside from the mythic SMG, Hades will give you another new weapon. Chains of Hades is gun that will be released later this season as it’s currently unavailable in the game. According to the trailer, it seems you can pull enemies towards yourselves and take them down with the chain itself, or maybe in an OG shotgun way. The concept is almost similar to the Harpoon gun.
Quick note: You can’t use any weapon attachments on any of these mythic weapons in the Mod Bench.

Fortnite C5S2: New Medallions
There are 4 Medallion items achievable from eliminating the bosses:
Zeus’ Medallion, Aspect of Speed, gives you a speed boost. Now, you can run even faster while dashing, allowing you to find a safe place when it gets hot, and also to run from the storm. This Medallion brings the fastest possible running ability in Fortnite.
Aspect of Combat from Ares increases the damage you deal to your opponents.
Cerberus’ Medallion, known as Aspect of Agility, grants you a quick burst of movement.
The last and probably the most effective, available from Hades, is called Aspect of Siphon. This Medallion heals you once you knock down an enemy. In intense small-zone fights where it’s impossible to restore health, this Medallion can come in handy.

Fortnite C5S2: Underworld Dash
In The Underworld POI and its entrance, Grim Gate, there is a shiny green-colored river covering the whole biome. This river does not contain natural water as it gives you a new mobility item, called Underworld Dash. When you dive into the river, you get connected with the spirit world and three spirit skulls appear behind your character. The three indicates the maximum dash charges you can own. Pressing the jump button twice will push you quickly a few meters towards the direction you are going to. Every dive into the river recharges the dash, however if you carry the Aspect of Agility medallion, it will automatically recharge your dash and you don’t need to dive into the river again. Using the dash also skips fall damage, so if you are about to fall to your death, dash and save yourself. This mobility is very effective in open areas when you are run out of build and have to evade enemies’ shots.

Fortnite C5S2: All Items From Previous Seasons
The following items coming back from the past are now existent in Season 2: Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Reaper Sniper Rifle, Ranger Pistol, Hammer Pump Shotgun, Thunder Burst SMG, Nemesis AR, and Supply Drops. These guns are all from Season 1. On top of that, Chug Splash has made a return to this season as the Medallions don’t give you any shields.
