7 Ways to Fix the Fortnite “Login Failed” Error on a Windows PC

The Fortnite “Login Failed” error is a relatively common issue for that Windows game. When that issue arises, players see a “Login Failed” error message after they’re prompted to log in to Epic as the game starts. Even when players enter the right login details, the game still displays a “Login Failed” message. Players can’t play Fortnite because of the “Login Failed” issue.

The “Login Failed” error is usually a network issue. This error often arises due to corrupted network settings, outdated drivers, and proxy servers among other things. This is how you can fix the Fortnite “Login Failed” error with alternative network (internet) resolutions in Windows 10.

Reboot Your Router

This simple resolution can sometimes resolve the Fortnite “Login Failed” error. Unplug your internet router for a few minutes. Then plug the router back in, wait for about five minutes, and try playing Fortnite.

Flush the DNS and Renew Your PC’s IP Address

Your PC’s DNS cache contains a record of recent DNS lookups. Flushing (or clearing) a corrupted DNS cache and renewing a PC’s IP address might fix the “Login Failed” error for some Fortnite players. You can clear the DNS cache and renew the IP address as follows.

1. Press the Windows key + R hotkey to open the Run accessory.
2. Type cmd in the Open box, and press the Ctrl + Shift + Enter keyboard hotkey.

Reset Winsock

The Winsock catalog includes numerous network settings and entries. Resetting Winsock will restore it to a default configuration and can fix a corrupted catalog. Follow the steps below to reset Winsock.

1. Open the Command Prompt as administrator as outlined within steps one and two of the first resolution.
2. Enter this command within the Command Prompt’s window: netsh winsock reset.

Update Network Drivers on Your PC

Run Fortnite With a Command-Line Argument

1. Open the settings in Epic Games, as instructed for the first two steps of the preceding potential fix.
2. Click Fortnite to expand the settings for that game.
3. Select Fortnite’s Additional Command Line Arguments option.
