After Over 600 Days, Shenhe is Finally Getting a Rerun in Genshin Impact 5.3

It has been over 600 days since Shenhe got a rerun in Genshin Impact and, after an unbearable wait, she will finally make her return as part of a new Liyue Chronicled Wish in Version 5.3 . Her return coincides with the annual Lantern Rite event and breaks her streak as the character with the longest period of time between reruns.

After Over 600 Days, Shenhe is Finally Getting a Rerun in Genshin Impact 5.3After over 600 days, Genshin Impact’s longest period between banner runs will come to an end in Version 5.3 when Shenhe finally gets her rerun. Her reappearance was announced during the Version 5.3 Special Program which revealed a lot about what players can expect with the conclusion of the Natlan Archon Quest as well as this year’s annual Lantern Rite festival.

Shenhe’s last rerun was all the way back in Version 3.6 in April 2023. Since then, players who were unable to pull her have been incessantly waiting for her return, growing ever more impatient with every new Shenle-less update. To put in perspective how long it has been since Shenhe was last available in Genshin Impact, her last appearance in 3.6 predates the launch of Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star.

Unfortunately, Shenhe must share the spotlight because she isn’t being bought back on a traditional rerun banner. Instead, she’ll be part of a new Liyue Chronicled Wish, beginning in Version 5.3. The Chronicled Wish is a special type of banner in Genshin Impact where players are given a large pool of nation-specific characters and weapons to pull from. Alongside Shenhe, other popular and legacy Liyue characters such as Baizhu, Ganyu (who has also been waiting for a rerun), Xiao, and Childe will be available on the Chronicled Wish alongside their signature weapons. This means that Shenhe’s very powerful signature 5-star Polearm, the Calamity Queller, will also be available to those willing to fork over enough Primogems.

Another downside to Shenhe rerunning in 5.3 is that she’ll be competing with several exciting new characters, including an Archon. As revealed in the Genshin Impact Version 5.3 Special Program, Phase 1 of the update will star both the Pyro Archon Mavuika as well as Granny Itzali Citlali as rate-up 5-star units.

With both Shenhe and Ganyu being featured on the Liyue Chronicled Wish, the mantle of the longest period between banners now falls onto Wriotheseley, yet another Cryo character and someone fans have been sorely missing. He hasn’t even had a rerun yet, with his first appearance being in Version 5.1 alongside Neuvillete (who has, curiously, received two rerun banners).

Genshin Impact Version 5.3 launches on January 1st 2025. Now, we just have to hope that a Wriothsely rerun is on the near horizon.
