It’s the big heavy monster. The Incredible Hulk of bashing blades. The Final Fantasy sword. Claymores are here to do big damage in a few good swings, and you need to know the biggest and baddest swing sticks of them all. You’ve come to the right place. I’ll start with the weapons you can get reliably and work our way around the board to let you in on all my secrets. Here are Genshin Impact’s best claymores:

Blacksmith
The Blacksmith is the easiest place to get 4-star swords. If you don’t have any 4-stars, come here and find out what you need so you can start forging. It is the single greatest use of resources.
Prototype Aminus (Yes, that is how it’s spelled)
LVL 1 Base Stats:
44 Base ATK and 6% ATK Bonus
“Crush: On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240% ATK DMG to enemies within a small AoE. Can only occur once every 15s.”

Whiteblind
To craft a claymore, you need 1 Northlander Claymore Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks, and 50 White Iron Chunks
LVL 1 Base Stats:
42 Base ATK and 11.3% DEF Bonus
“Infusion Blade: On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks increase ATK and DEF by 6% for 6s. Max 4 stacks (24% total). Can only occur once every 0.5s.”
Prototype Aminus is the easy winner here. With claymores, you attack slowly, and you want every hit to count. Your claymore user needs to get in there, throw their sword 3 or 4 times, and swap out until their ability recharges. I run Prototype on Diluc and combo his elemental ability, sprinkling a regular attack between each Searing Onslaught hit. Then I switch out, using my other characters until 15s passes, and then I go again. This is especially effective if you can position yourself to hit more than one enemy at once, maximizing the AOE damage with the additional.
5-Star Claymores
It may not be that 5-star character you were looking for, but a 5-star weapon is still pretty sweet.
Skyward Pride
LVL 1 Base Stats:
48 Base ATK and 8% Energy Recharge
“Sky-ripping Dragon Spine: Increases all DMG by 8%. After using an Elemental Burst, Normal or Charged Attack, on hit, creates a vacuum blade that does 80% of ATK as DMG to enemies along its path. Lasts for 20s or 8 vacuum blades.”
I’m not a huge fan of any weapon that requires you to use your elemental burst for the bulk of its usefulness. That said, an 8% straight damage increase on the already hulking 48 base power is a good plus. The damage applies to your elemental skills too, so this is better for those who do extra elemental damage.
Wolf’s Gravestone (Best Claymore)
LVL 1 Base Stats:
46 Base ATK and 10.8% ATK Bonus
“Wolfish Tracker: Increases Base ATK by 20%. On hit, attacks against enemies with less than 30% HP increase all party members’ Base ATK by 40% for 12s. Can only occur once every 30s.”
This is the better of the two 5-star weapons, hands down. The physical damage boost is huge for any weapon, and the claymore is no exception. I might even run an unrefined version of this blade over a fully refined Prototype Aminus. The attack boosts are just too good, and this is excellent when you go up against big bosses that get tougher to beat when their health is low.
Notable 4-Star Claymores
When wishes for Wolf’s Gravestone don’t come true, you’ll need a good 4-star weapon to hold you until your prayers are answered. In general, that weapon will be the Aminus, but there are some exceptions.
Rainslasher
LVL 1 Base Stats:
42 Base ATK and 36 Elemental Mastery
“Bane of Storm and Tide: Increases DMG against enemies affected by Hydro or Electro by 20%.”
This blade is very situational, but it can help you out in tricky Hydro domains, provided you have Razor. With the increased damage, it could even be a great non-situational claymore for Razor. 20% of extra damage is enormous.
The Bell
LVL 1 Base Stats:
42 Base ATK and 9% HP Bonus
“Rebellious Guardian: Taking DMG generates a shield that absorbs DMG up to 20% of max HP. This shield lasts for 10s or until broken and can only be triggered once every 45s. While protected by the shield, the character gains 12% increased DMG.”
Noelle needs a special mention due to her playstyle. You can grow to really like Noelle if you know how to use her and also add this weapon. You know when the big boss has that damage phase that makes you curse the game because you can’t figure out how to avoid it? That’s what Noelle is for. Switch to her at these high damage points, let the sword’s shield pop, and then pop her elemental shield when that one breaks. The storm of damage won’t team-wipe you this way.
“I will protect this windmill. I will protect this house. I will protect this wall. I will protect…”
Wrap Up
Honestly, Prototype Aminus is the best overall 4-star claymore. I wouldn’t push for any other blade when you can craft the best one. Crafting materials are hard to come by, but not harder than 4-star wish weapons. If you manage to pull a 5-star Wolf’s Gravestone, I hate you, and we are never speaking ever again.
Eunice
I did get Wolf’s Gravestone from a roll on Wish. Equipped it to Diluc. 😊
