The line-up includes Genshin Impact, the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. They will also be bringing Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Gauken, their older mobile titles. This is a very stacked line-up of titles, many of which are rife to receive updates and announcements.

Genshin Impact is currently mid-way through its Version 3.0 patch, which is about 10 days shorter than usual. The start of the next patch coincides with the game’s upcoming 2nd Anniversary. This will likely make up the contents of the Genshin Impact portion. Infamously, both the in-game offerings and community reaction to the Anniversary were particularly poor. As a result, many are hoping for a better showing this year. Version 3.1 may also be shown off, which should bring the Desert biome to Sumeru.
Zenless Zone Zero is perhaps Hoyoverse’s next most anticipated title, with it earning adoration and acclaim since its first reveal. Since then, a round of closed beta tests has been undertaken, with the beta revealing a lot of new information about the game’s rogue-lite elements, character kits and story. More information on the beta can be found in a previous article. At TGS Zenless Zone Zero could show off some new characters or more hints at the story. They could give a release date announcement, however, this seems unlikely based on the Beta to release cadence that Hoyoverse is usually known for. Genshin Impact had its first Beta in June of 2019, releasing later in September 2020, for example.
Honkai: Star Rail is another title that fans are excited about. However, it seems to appeal to a bit more niche audience than Zenless Zone Zero. Set in space, Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based action RPG with a party of up to 4 characters. This title has also had more rounds of Beta testing. Compared to Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail seems more likely of the two to receive a release date announcement soon. They have recently been ramping up advertising for the game, too. A new story trailer was released at Gamescom ONL and character profiles on their Twitter, also hinting at a possible announcement soon.
The Hoyoverse slot at the Tokyo Game Show is on the 17th of September. It begins at 17:00 Japanese Standard Time and will run until 18:50 (UTC +8).
