Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry patch notes and developer update

EA has published the Apex Legends patch notes and developer updates for Season 16: Revelry, which includes more in-depth descriptions of the highly anticipated Legend Classes, Limited Time Modes and balance changes. The 4th Anniversary of the game is set to be jampacked with content that both newcomers and loyal fans can enjoy.

Legend Class Breakdown

The new 5 Legend Classes will feature unique abilities and will be sorted by their new categories in the Legends screen. The classes including the perks are:

  • Assault (Bangalore, Ash, Fuse, Mad Maggie and Revenant) – Access the Secret Compartment of Weapon Supply Bins and stack more ammunition per item slot.
  • Skirmisher (Wraith, Valkyrie, Octane, Horizon, Mirage and Pathfinder) – Can spot incoming Care Packages to see the highest value items in them and can see when these items are taken by others.
  • Recon (Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer and Vantage) – Can Use Modified Survey Beacons that reveal all enemy positions on the Map/Mini-Map for 30 seconds but enemies in pulse range are alerted to beacon use.
  • Controller (Caustic, Wattson, Rampart and Catalyst) – Can use Ring Consoles to find the next ring location.
  • Support (Lifeline, Loba, Gibraltar and Newcastle) – Craft ally banners in the crafting station even if they have expired and access Secret Compartments on Blue Bins which have increased the chance for large health kits.

While the remodelled Legend class fits the increase in the Apex Legends roster, developers expect to modify and tweak these passives as they see how this new change affects the gameplay experience.

LTMs and Mixtape

The 6v6 Team Deathmatch is set to debut for the first three weeks of the season as a permanent fixture. The developers want a low-stakes, fast-paced gun mode similar to Control, where players pick their Legends and load-outs before racing to 30 kills to win the round. Shields regen automatically and you can swap load-outs and legends in between respawning to adjust to the battlefield, with the team that gets 2 rounds on the board winning the match. TDM is set to be a good warmup and a way for players of all levels to improve their gunplay and take many fights in a short period of time.

Following the three weeks of TDM, the Mixtape playlist will rotate between highly requested LTMs which include Control, Team Deathmatch, and Gun Run. These fast-paced modes can serve as a good warmup playlist or a way for players to fine-tune their combat capabilities. The mode is set to rotate through game modes and maps every fifteen minutes so players can enjoy a variety of modes in the playlist. The game mode is an avenue for the developers to spotlight experimental game modes with the feedback of the gameplay experience giving them information on how to support these new modes moving forward.

New Weapons and Firing Range Improvement

The Nemesis is a new four-round burst assault rifle that the developers view as an alternative to the R-301 and Flatline. Simulating a full-auto weapon, the AR contains a ramping burst delay that decreases the time between bursts likely giving it high damage and recoil at the end of the clip. Burst guns with medium to close-range consistency might sound like the Hemlock but with more damage potential later in its magazine.

The firing range dummies can now strafe and crouch with the player being able to control their speed and shield level. Another huge win is the unlimited ammo and the dynamic stats that track your performance in the range. These changes will help both solos, as well as squads, warm up in an environment that mimics real combat situations.
