Skull Town Returns to Apex Legends in Genesis Event

Apex Legends is over 2 years old now. A lot has changed in regards to the Battle Royale since its surprise launch in 2019.  With the announcement of the Genesis Collection Event, Respawn is giving players the chance to go back to Season 0 and see how it all started. With the return of classic King’s Canyon, Skull Town returns to Apex Legends. The event runs from June 29 until July 13.

According to the patch notes, Season 0 Kings Canyon and Season 3 World’s Edge maps are coming back to trios and duos mode. These maps will rotate hourly. This update will give many gamers a trip down memory lane, while providing newer players the opportunity to visit some of the original locations found in the game. Notable POIs making a return include Skull Town, Cascades, Capital City, and Thunderdome.

In addition, the developers have added Skull Town to the Arena rotation as a new map. With lots of buildings along with places to take the strategic high ground, it will be interesting to see how this location works in the 3v3 elimination mode

The collection event boasts a bunch of new exclusive skins. Some of the Legends getting a new look include Bangalore, Gibraltar, Crypto, Revenant, and Loba. Besides new skins, Revenant is receiving an heirloom. This scythe-looking item fits the devilish simulacrum’s persona. It looks pretty sharp (pun intended!)

Players that manage to obtain all 24 items from the Genesis Collection Event will unlock the Revenant Heirloom set. After the festivities come to a close, the scythe can still be purchased through heirloom shards.

Respawn has also made changes to some of Revenant’s abilities. He can now climb much higher before falling, while nerfs to the duration of his Silence and Death Totem abilities are meant to make him a more balanced character. Furthermore, his hitbox has been reduced making him more difficult to knock in a fight.

Some of the game’s most popular Legends are receiving balance changes as well. Lifeline will receive a nerf to her hitbox during this update. This decision likely comes in response to her high pick rate and her strength in firefights since the removal of Low Profile. Another popular character getting hit with a nerf is Octane. His Launch Pad now takes 90 seconds instead of 60 seconds to recharge after use. In addition, Bloodhound has received a nerf to his Tactical and Ultimate abilities. The scan from Eye of the Allfather now lasts for 3 seconds instead of 4 seconds, and Beast of the Hunt’s duration has been shortened from 35 seconds to 30 seconds.
