The next major Natlan version update is looming on the near horizon, which means a new round of drip marketing has been released for the upcoming Genshin Impact Version 5.2. Two new characters from the Nation of War have been revealed in this recent batch of new promotional material, with the first being the newest 5-star character to join the hit gacha title, Chasca.
After much speculation and debate following some contradictory marketing pieces, Chasca’s official drip marketing has revealed her to be a new 5-star Anemo unit. She first appeared in the “A Name Forged in Fire” teaser trailer and has played a rather integral role in the first two Acts of the Natlan Archon Quest, serving as the most skilled warrior (and suspected Champion) in the Flower-Feather Clan tribe.
When it comes to Chasca’s weapon choice, she is seen wielding a Bow as part of the main story. This means that she’ll be our second 5-star Anemo Bow unit, a combination not seen since Venti’s release all the way back in Version 1.0 of Genshin Impact.
Chasca’s most defining trait (and something which could point to some potential gameplay details) is the strange illness she is afflicted with, one which led her birth parents to abandon her in the wilds of Natlan. After being raised by Saurians, Chasca is an extremely capable hunter who has earned the right to enter the Night Kingdom five times. She is also Natlan’s Peacekeeper, a figurehead responsible for settling disputes among the six tribes of the Nation of War.
If the term drip marketing has caught you by surprise, it is a piece of terminology used predominately in gacha game circles to refer to promotional material released before a character or unit’s official reveal. Hoyoverse titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero tend to release their batches of new drip marketing a full version before the characters officially join the game, giving players time to save or adjust their spending plans.
Chasca, along with 5.2’s other new character Ororon, will join Genshin Impact when Version 5.2 launches in late November or early December. Meanwhile, Version 5.1 featuring the highly anticipated Xilonen launches on October 9th.
