Destiny 2: Quickest Way To Get the Last Word Hand Cannon

The quickest way to get the Last Word which is one of the best exotic hand cannons in Destiny 2 is right here! Get it done in one sitting and become the gun-wielding space cowboy you were meant to.

Destiny 2: Quickest Way To Obtain the Last Word Hand Cannon

We simply love hand cannons in Destiny 2. They look awesome, pack a ton of punch and make us into literal space cowboy daredevils like the beloved Cade-6. They are also in a very good place when it comes to Destiny 2: Shadowkeep PvP with many players skillfully using them to one-shot unfortunate opponents. The Last Word is one such hand cannon and is not only a fan favorite but it also made our list of the top 20 best Crucible weapons.

To even be able to get the Last Word you need to own and finish the Forsaken expansion so make sure to get it over on Steam. It’s part of Destiny 2 Black Armory content and getting it involves a multi-stage quest that tasks you with the following:

  1. Visit the Drifter in the Tower
  2. Defeat Hive with Solar damage, collect 75 Hive Tablets and defeat three Hive bosses
  3. Kill other players in the Crucible
  4. Complete The Damnation mission on Titan
  5. Get 15 Etched Crystals from Lost Sector bosses, Earn 25 revenge medals in the Crucible, defeat 50 Hive with precision damage and complete three Witches’ Ritual Heroic Public Events
  6. Complete The Conversation mission on the Tangled Shore
  7. Visit the Drifter

Now while that might seem like a lot, it’s completely doable in a single play session. Just follow our most optimal way for the more time-consuming steps and you’ll get the Last Word in no time.

This one is self-explanatory. To get the quest, visit the Drifter in the Tower. He’ll give you a Hive artifact to cleanse and you can begin the real work.

Escalation protocol is Hive killing made easy

The second step of the quest is called “The Cleansing” and will have you killing Hive. Sure, killing them is a no brainer, but it can be done quick, fast and in a hurry by going to Mars. Simply get involved with the escalation protocol while having solar weapons equipped. Alternatively, you can do the Mars Core Terminus lost sector a few times. That’s it. You’re one step closer to getting the Last Word.

Destiny 2: Easy Exotic Guide

Play Mayhem if available

Before jumping into the Crucible check out our list of best PvP weapons. Once you grab your favorite, jump into any activity in the Crucible and start killing. For the fastest results, we recommend Mayhem or any other playlist where the matches are finished fast simply by the kill enemy guardians.

The Damnation quest will have you going to Titan’s Cargo Bay 3 lost sector. It’s a very straightforward mission with a mini-boss at the end. This time, it’s going to be a Hive acolyte surrounded by some wizards. You won’t be able to harm the acolyte until you kill them first so get to shooting.

Witches Ritual is very easy to solo

Step five is known for being the lengthiest one in the quest to get the Last Word. We argue that it doesn’t have to be. While you can kill any lost sector boss to get etched crystals, why not kill three birds with one stone? Go to Titan and find the DS Quarters-2 lost sector. Run it normally once to quickly accumulate 50 precision Hive kills. After that, you’ll have to run it 14 more times but this time just run past all the enemies until you get to the end boss. In this case, it will be a large knight that you can dispatch in a minute with no issues to get the etched crystal. While you are doing that, pay attention to the map and the nearby Witches Ritual public event. You need to finish the heroic variant of this public event three times.

Destiny 2: Easy Guide

It takes a minute to finish this lost sector

Since you’ll be running the nearby lost sector for 20 minutes or so, this event is bound to occur a couple of times. Stand in the circles, kill the wizards, and shoot the crystals above the portal to initiate the heroic event. Don’t worry if you are playing solo since many players often frequent this locale and will gladly jump in to help. All in all, you can finish step 5 of the quest in 35 minutes of fairly repetitive gameplay, and even faster with a fireteam.

As far as the Crucible medals go, Best Served Cold is gained by killing the player who last killed you. Blood for Blood medal, on the other hand, requires you to kill a player who recently killed your teammate. Again, Mayhem and other playlists with a lot of fast killing are your best friends. Suffice it to say that you’ll be swimming in these after just a few rounds.

Dueling made easy

The Conversation quest on the Tangled Shore is pretty straightforward. Until you get to the pistol duel part against Enkaar The Anointed. You’ll encounter him three times during the mission and each time you need to stand on a plate, draw the Last Word and wait for him to draw. Once he does this, you have a very brief window of opportunity to shoot him in his gun. Yes, you read that right. You need to shoot the gun out of his hand. The area where you need to shoot is pretty small and you’ll probably have to try it several times before succeeding.

This is simple enough the first time around as only one Enkaar will spawn in front of you. Second and the third time is where it gets tricky since more Enkaars will spawn and you need to hit all their guns to successfully complete the mission. However, there is a catch here that makes this task incredibly easy. When dueling against multiple Enkaars, pay attention to the order they spawn in as they will also try and shoot you in the same order.

There you have it. Simply return to the Drifter to get the Last Word and one of the best hand cannons in the game. Be sure to take it with you when playing Crucible and enjoy the multi-kills.
