How to get the Lament
To bag this Exotic sword in Destiny 2, you must first journey to the Tower and pick up the “Lost Lament” quest from Banshee-44. Once collected, you will be challenged with 11 steps to complete.
Step 1: Locate and scan 3 Dead Exos on Europa.
The first step requires you to locate and scan three dead Exos on Europa. The dead Exos can be found on the surface of Europa and within its lost sectors. To optimize your time, this guide will provide three locations which, if followed in order, will lead you to the next step.
The first dead Exo can be found on Europa in the Cadmus Ridge area on a small plateau. After entering the region from the south, turn left and head to the first plateau. On top and at the northernmost edge, you will find the dead Exo laying on the ground. A vex structure is visible in the background to guide you.
The second dead Exo can be found in the Bray Exoscience facility west of Cadmus Ridge. Upon entering a large reception room, head to your right and up two flights of stairs, which will lead you to a red room. There will be a statue of Banshee-44 on a desk in this room. In the right corner of the room is where you will find the dead Exo. The dead Exo is lent against a wall with a mechanical operation table opposite.
For the final dead Exo, you need to head into an area called Creation. A part of the Bray Exoscience facility. You can enter this area by starting in the red room. Head into the next red room ahead, where there will be a door to the right. Take this exit and follow the corridors downwards into the facility. You will be met with a stasis seal barrier that will let you know you are on the right path. Stasis a new element introduced in Destiny 2: Beyond light. You can gain the seal to unlock the barrier by playing the Beyond Light campaign. Continue down the staircase with red paint accents on the walls.
This will lead you into a large and open room with flying transports carrying Exos. Proceed to the elevator shaft at the other side of the area and descend. Now, continue on through corridors with yellow paint accents on the walls.
At the end of the corridor, you will reach a large and open area of platforms with multiple descending levels. Green paint accents will be on the walls here, and Exo transports also fly through space. The final dead Exo can be found in the area. Start making your way down until you reach the bottom level of platforms. You now want to find a small wall on a U shaped platform on the left, the wall cast in shadow. The dead Exo will be leaned up against the wall.
You can locate the giant Exo at the end of Creation within Bray ExoScience.
If you have followed the step above to locate the dead Exos, you are not far away. At the end of the platforms, there is a path to the left that will take you to the prize. You will know when you are in the right area as you will be greeted with a giant Exo head. Once you catch its glare, head up and interact with the head to complete the step and discover who the Exo is…
Step 3: Prove yourself to the Clovis AI by using Swords against Vex across Europa.
It’s time to flex your sword hand. Equip a blade of your choice and head to Europa to defeat 100 Vex and inflict 20 final blows on Minotaurs, Hydras and Cyclops’.
The Asterion Abyss area of Europa contains a high amount of Vex enemy types that roam the area. The Vex public event here is also quite handy for grinding the kills.
Another option is the Perdition Lost sector in Cadmus Ridge that contains the Vex enemies you need. However, you will need to run the lost sector multiply times.
Step 4: Unlock Empire Hunts
To unlock Empire Hunts, you must complete Variks’ Beyond Light epilogue campaign, containing three missions titled; “Reclaiming Europa”, “Empires Fall” and “Dark Priestess Empire Hunt”. Once the missions are completed, the next step will unlock.
If you have completed the above missions already, you will automatically be on the next stage of the quest.
Step 5: Prove your worth to the Clovis AI by completing an Exo Challenge
To finish this step, you need to complete an Exo Challenge on Europa. A new and rotational activity added with Beyond Light that functions similar to the Ascendant Challenges found in the Dreaming City.
If you have not unlocked the Exo Challenge activity, you need to complete the quest “Old Secrets, New Challenge”. The quest is available from Banshe-44. When grabbed, go to the Exo Challenge marker and complete the activity.
If you have already done the quest, you need to complete the current Exo Challenge activity to progress.
Step 6: Defeat Vex with Finishers
Back to the grind. Defeat Vex with finishers to complete this step. Powerful Vex will grant the most efficient progress. Once again, the Asterion Abyss region will become your best friend. The public event coming in clutch.
Step 7: Access the strike “The Glassway” and locate the blade pieces within
To complete this stage, you need to run the “Glassway” strike on Europa. During the final boss encounter, you need to defeat the Transcendent Harpy, a yellow-bar enemy that will spawn with the boss, which will drop the blade pieces on death.
Step 8: Visit Banshee-44 in the Tower
Not much to say here; simply deliver the blade pieces to Banshee-44 in the tower and listen to what he has to say.
Step 9: Search Eventide Ruins for an abandoned bunker and explore inside.
Once more, return to Europa and complete the lost sector Bunker E-15 in the Eventide Ruins. The lost sector chest will drop blueprints for the Lament. Now, it is time to forge the blade.
Step 10: Complete the mission “Reforging the Past” to save the Clovis AI from being destroyed.
You will now have to complete a new mission found outside Bunker E-15.
The mission starts by gifting you a tank. Then requesting that you head back to Braytech Exoscience and save the Clovis AI that is under attack by the Vex. Once you have crushed your way to the facility, you must then battle to the giant Exo in Creation.
The Clovis AI will aid you in the climax of the battle by forging the Lament. It is now time to wield the exotic sword and smite the Vex. Be mindful to keep a heavy weapon slot free if you want to test it out during the encounter.
Once you have saved the Clovis AI, it is time for the final step and a surprising reveal.
Step 11: Head back to the Tower and report your discoveries to Banshee-44
Return to Banshee-44 with your new Exotic. Banshee will disclose his secret origin, which until now had been lost in the deepest depths of his memories.
And that’s it with our guide, the quest is complete, and the Exotic Lament is now yours to rip and tear.
