Season of the Wish has just begun in Destiny 2 and already it’s giving us secrets to chase down. Aside from unravelling the new Coil rouge-lite activity, there is a new type of collectable to find in Season of the Wish called the Starcats. Veteran Guardians will recognise these celestial felines as emissaries of the Dreaming City. Back in Forsaken, these cats could be bribed with fishy offerings for additional Dreaming City loot and the Ennead Emblem. Now, over 5 years later, a new litter of Starcats have wandered into the Awoken’s (and Riven’s) territory.
These new Starcats are similar to the aquarium plants from Season of the Deep or the secret Savathun’s Spire chests in Season of the Witch, with new cats becoming accessible each week for 7 weeks. As cats want to do, these Starcats are hiding all across the Dreaming City and beyond. Find them all and not only will you get to pet some cute kittens but you’ll also score some sweet additional Dreaming City loot and special Season of the Wish triumphs, including the Familiar Felines triumph which will get the Wyrmguard Ghost Shell.
Here’s where to find all of the Starcats in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish.

What Are Season of the Wish Starcats in Destiny 2?
Starcats are a new collectible in Destiny 2’s latest season, Season of the Wish. Not to be confused with the original Starcats, which can still be found across the Dreaming City, this new cluster of Starcats are secrets, triumphs and rewards related to Season of the Wish.
In total, there are 14 Starcats hidden around the world. Finding all of the Starcats is part of the Wishbearer Seal this season, as you’ll need to complete the Familiar Felines triumph. Each week, two new Starcats will make themselves known, similar to how the weekly hidden chests in Savathun’s Spire worked. You can track your progress in the Secrets tab under the Season of the Wish Triumph list, where also notice that each Starcat triumph has a hint at where you’ll find them.
Once you’ve found one, you can “offer it a gift” and, in return, the Starcat will give you a random Dreaming City weapon and Lair Key before vanishing into the mist. Unlike the previous incarnation of the Starcats, you don’t actually need any sort of offering as simply finding and interacting with the Starcats will net you the rewards. After that, the Starcats you’ve found will go to dwell in various spots around the HELM, including in the lap of Queen Mara herself.
Week 1 Season of the Wish Starcat Locations
Garden of Plenty Starcat Location
The first Starcat on your list will be in the new Riven’s Lair activity. To be more specific, it’s in the Garden of Plenty arena, which also shows up during the Polysemy mission in week 1 of Season of the Wish. There are several different possible encounters in Riven’s Lair and there are only four segments per run, meaning that you may have to repeat the activity a few times before the Garden of Plenty pops up.
The clue for the Garden of Plenty Starcat is:
“Within the Garden of Plenty in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to peer down from a place of power.”
Garden of Plenty Starcat Descripton, Destiny 2
Once you do get the Garden as an encounter, we recommend clearing out all the enemies in the area: you can technically find the Starcat with them still active, but they’ll make life much harder and the Starcat is near the end of the area, anyway.
After you’ve dealt with the Vex, head to the large circular podium at the opposite end of the Gardens, near the exit portal. From there, turn back towards where you started and then look right: hidden beneath the lip of the rocky edge of the cliff will be the first Starcat, enjoying a nice clean by a secretive pool of water.
Blind Well Starcat Location
The second Starcat for week 1 of Season of the Wish can be found in the Blind Well. Compared to the first one, this Starcat is way easier to find.
The clue for the Blind Well Starcat reads as follows:
“Within the Blind Well, this Starcat likes to wait by the door.”
Blind Well Starcat Description, Destiny 2
As soon as you enter the Blind Well arena (either on foot or via the node on the Dreaming City map), make your way to the back of the room where the Tier 4 boss usually spawns. Sat in front of that giant set of doors is the second Starcat and offering it a gift will net you some Dreaming City loot as well as the Blind Well Starcat Triumph.
Week 2 Season of the Wish Starcat Locations
Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcat Location
The first new Starcat in the second week of Season of the Wish can be found within the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath. Similar to the Garden of Plenty from week 1, this location is inside of the Riven’s Lair activity, meaning that you may have to repeat the activity multiple times until the Temple becomes one of the randomly assigned rooms (it will appear from the central portal). However, you can also access the temple from the Tautology Mission, which will take you straight there are part of the seasonal story.
The clue for the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcat reads:
“Within the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to hide in nooks.”
Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
Once you’ve teleported inside the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath, immediately turn right and head into the long corridor that awaits you. On either end of this hallway are two of the iconic Awoken statues which decorate the Dreaming City and, if you check behind the one closest to where you spawned, you’ll find the tiny form of a Starcat huddled behind the statue. Give it its offering, claim your Triumph, and make it out of Riven’s Lair alive.
Chamber of Starlight Starcat Location
Week 2 of Season of the Wish actually introduced a total of four new Starcats to find, doubling the predicted amount from last week. Aside from the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcat, the other three can all be found within the various Lost Sectors in the Dreaming City. The first one you’ll want to visit is the Chamber of Starlight, the Lost Sector in the Rheasilvia portion of the Dreaming City.
The Starcat clue for the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector goes as follows:
“Within the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, this Starcat likes to calculate gravity.”
Chamber of Starlight Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
Upon reaching the Lost Sector, begin clearing it like normal until you reach the massive central chamber where both the boss and the Lost Sector chest can be found. We recommend taking out whatever enemies remain before finding the Starcat but you can just pick up normally. You’ll find the Starcat perched on a table with a bunch of navigational equipment a short distance from the chest, on the other end of a hallway connected to the balcony where you’ll exit the Lost Sector from.
Bay of Drowned Wishes Starcat Location
The next Dreaming City Lost Sector to visit is the Bay of Drowned Wishes. This is the easiest Lost Sector to find and visit, seeing as it’s the Divalian Mists, the only location in the Dreaming City with a transmat point.
The clue for the Starcat’s whereabouts in the Bay of Drowned Wishes reads:
“Within the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector, this Starcat likes pondering orbs.”
Bay of Drowned Wishes Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
Like with the Chamber of Starlight, you’ll want to battle all the way through the Bay of Drowned Wishes until you come across the final Lost Sector Chest. On a narrow ledge, just a few steps away from the chest will be the Bay of Drowned Wishes Starcat, pondering a collection of broken Servitors which the Guardian (or your foes) can use as bombs.
Aphelion’s Rest Starcat Location
The last Starcat for week 2 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish will be in the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector. You’ll find this one in The Strand, the southeasternmost area in the Dreaming City, underneath the gazebo where Petra used to hang out in Forsaken.
The Starcat hint for Aphleion’s Rest is:
“Within the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector, this Starcat likes to sit in the bowl.”
Aphelion’s Rest Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
Repeat what you did in the last two Dreaming City Lost Sectors by battling your way through to the end of Aphelion’s Rest. Once the Taken Knight at the end falls and you are allowed to open the final chest, stop and take a look above the chest. There, you’ll find a large ceramic bowl and the sixth Starcat to add to your collection.
Week 3 Season of the Wish Starcat Locations
Gnashing Chamber
In week 3 of Season of the Wish, only one new Starcat has made themselves known. You’ll find them within the Gnashing Chamber, one of the areas within Riven’s Lair which looks remarkably like the Vault from the Last Wish Raid. Just a note that you can also reach this area by getting lucky with path spawns in The Coil or in the Enthymem mission.
As for the Gnashing Chamber Starcat clue, it reads as follows:
“Within the Gnashing Chamber in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat appreciates fine art.”
Gnashing Chamber Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
Make your way into either Riven’s Lair or The Coil and fight your way through until you reach the Gnashing Chamber. From where you spawn, head to the left side of the chamber to where the rocky room (usually just nicknamed Rock) and the room you use to exit to the next area (usually nicknamed Stairs) are: between these two rooms will be the Gnashing Chamber Starcat, admiring a ceramic model of itself on a table.
Week 4 Season of Wish Starcat Location
Reaver’s Orison Starcat Location
Week 4 is another week where only one new Starcat has come out of hiding. This one can be found within the Reaver’s Orison room within Riven’s Lair Like most other Riven’s Lair Starcats, you can also find this one while in The Coil or during the week 4 mission, Apophasis.
The clue for the location of the Reaver’s Orison Starcat in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish is:
“Within the Reaver’s Orison in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to root around.”
Reaver’s Orison Starcat Descriptor, Destiny 2
After spawning into the Reaver’s Orison (which is a copy of the room used in the Morgeth encounter from Last Wish), head to the right-hand side of the arena where you’ll find a large knotted tree. At the base of this tree will be the next Starcat to add to your collection.

Week 5 Season of the Wish Starcat Location
Spine of Keres Starcat Location (Not Cell of the Sycophant)
Week 5 should have been an ordinary visit to Riven’s Lair if you wanted to adopt another galactic cat but, thanks to a glitch or a bug, things aren’t so simple. If you checked the Secrets tab at the start of week 5 and saw that this week’s Starcat was supposedly in the Cell of the Sycophant, another possible location in the Coil or Riven’s Lair, you’ve essentially been lied to.
Instead, the Starcat for week 5 of Season of the Wish is actually located in the Spine of Keres, one of the major regions of the Dreaming City. Additionally, while it doesn’t appear under the Secrets tab, finding the Starcat in the Spine of Keres will give you the correct triumph, revealing what the clue for this Starcat was supposed to be:
“This Starcat keeps Techeuns company.”
Spine of Keres Starcat Descriptor
To find this buggy Starcat, head to the Dreaming City on Patrol and make your way to the Spine of Keres, which is the large area to the west of the Divalian Mists. Once you’re there, head into the observatory which stretches high into the sky. Veteran Guardians who have been around since Forsaken should remember this as the place where we met Queen Mara every three weeks.
Well, this Starcat seems to remember as well. Climb the circular stairs in the Observatory until you come across one of Mara’s Techeuns – she’s who you would speak to if you want to revisit Mara’s secret room where the Pyramids were first revealed – who will be accompanied by the Spine of Keres Starcat.
That was where to find all of the Season of the Wish Starcat collectables in Destiny 2. More Starcats will become available each week so make sure to check back here for each Starcat’s location until all 14 are available.
