Destiny 2: 10 Best Auto Rifles for Crucible

Whether you like it or not, Destiny 2 Crucible is currently being owned by Auto Rifles. Due to their insane flinch and high damage output, many amazing crucible players have been utilizing them, even after the release of Into The Light

With over 90 Auto Rifles in the game, it can be hard to find the best. You can save time by reviewing the best Auto Rifles in this quick article. In addition, discover how they’re obtained, and the best rolls to use. While some of the mentioned weapons may be acquired through raid content or seasonal activities, others are easier to come across.

The Summoner

The Summoner is an adaptive frame Auto Rifle and can be easily by playing Trials of Osiris. In addition, the Summoner can be focused at Saint-14 using Trials Engrams. Some players may even have old Summoners that feature rolls that are no longer achievable. For example, Zen Moment used to be available in the first perk column.

The Summoner features an Adept variant, capable of slightly higher statistics all-around. Due to its higher rate of fire, the Summoner is fantastic at defeating close-range guardians. With the addition of Target Lock in recent loot pools, the Summoner has grown in strength.

  • Where to Acquire: Trials of Osiris, Saint-14
  • Desired Perks: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Target Lock

Centrifuse

Originally coming from a Season Pass reward in Season 21, the Centrifuse is an Exotic Auto Rifle now available from the Exotic Kiosk. Centrifuse is one of the best Auto Rifles in Destiny 2 due to its powerful Exotic Perk. Sprinting, sliding, and firing the weapon temporarily increases your ‘Electrostatic Charge’ and the range and reload speed.

When your Electrostatic Charge is high, eliminating an enemy causes them to explode. In addition, if the Electrostatic Charge is full, the explosion will also blind nearby enemies. After completing the catalyst quest obtained from Banshee-44, players will also gain Electrostatic Charge when Amplified.

  • Where to Acquire: Exotic Kiosk
  • Desired Perks: N/A

Ammit AR2

Originally from the Season of Plunder, the Ammit AR2 is an easily obtainable Crucible monster! This precision-frame auto rifle is sure to melt opponents from a distance. The Ammit AR2 has justifiably spent multiple weeks within Trials of Osiris’s most used weapons. With the ability to craft the Ammit AR2, players can combine enhanced versions of Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap the Trigger. This makes for one of the most accurate, easy-to-use, Auto Rifles.

Ammit AR2 is also incredibly easy to acquire using the Deepsight Resonance Quest found on the Enclave. The quest also gives players 40% of the required Deepsight Resonance progress to craft and can be completed on multiple characters. By completing the quest on all three characters, players will be able to quickly craft the Ammit AR2.

  • Where to Acquire: Gunsmith, Legendary Engrams, Foundry Resonance Quest, Craftable
  • Desired Perks: Dynamic Sway Reduction (Enhanced), Tap the Trigger (Enhanced)

Gnawing Hunger

Long-time players will remember Gnawing Hunger and when it was originally released in Season of the Drifter. Though it may not be the monster it was in Season of Arrivals, it remains a sound option in Crucible. Due to its higher fire rate, it makes precision shots deadly at medium range. It’s adaptive-frame meaning its high rate of fire isn’t highly affected by recoil either.

While this adaptive-frame Auto Rifle may not drop as commonly as it used to, there are still other ways to acquire it. Occasionally, Gnawing Hunger will be sold by both Banshee-44 and Xur. In addition to that, Gnawing Hunger can still be acquired as a rare drop. So grab those legendary engrams!

  • Where to Acquire: Xur, Banshee-44, Rare World Drop
  • Desired Perks: Tap the Trigger, Multikill Clip

Quicksilver Storm

Originally obtained as the Lightfall pre-order bonus, Quicksilver Storm is an amazing option for players who like to fight at closer ranges. Featuring a rapid-fire frame and tracking missiles, it’s no surprise Quicksilver Storm melts through enemy health. It feels like an upgraded Chroma Rush capable of far more.

While it may not be amazing at longer ranges, the tracking missiles that are spawned when landing consecutive damage still hurt. Though it is no longer available available through a pre-order bonus, the Quicksilver Storm can now be purchased at the Exotic Kiosk found in the tower.

  • Where to Acquire: Exotic Kiosk
  • Desired Perks: N/A

Firefright

The Firefright was added to Destiny 2 in Witch Queen’s ‘Season of the Haunted’. This precision-frame auto rifle provides more than adequate damage. Gameplay feels similar, if not better, than its fellow prediction-frame, Braytech Werewolf.

Players who acquire the desired PVP role will find Adagio gives a significant buff to damage at the cost of fire rate. This makes Firefright even more dangerous at long ranges after eliminating an enemy. Additionally, Enhanced Fragile Focus will ensure you’re ready to start a fight from any range.

  • Where to Acquire: Xur, Presage Mission, Craftable
  • Desired Perks: Fragile Focus (Enhanced), Adagio (Enhanced)

Rufus’s Fury

Coming from the Root of Nightmares raid, Rufus’s Fury is the hardest to acquire on this list. Players can receive this Auto Rifle by defeating Zo’ Aurc or Nezarec, The Final God of Pain. As usual, those who are looking to craft Rufus’s Fury will first have to collect 5 red borders.

The incredibly high rate of fire paired with the Enhanced Target Lock perk makes for an incredibly powerful weapon. By landing headshots, enemies will have few options to counter is high damage output. Rufus’s Fury is a fantastic example of great raid content that can be utilized within the Crucible game mode.

  • Where to Acquire: Root of Nightmare Raid (3rd Encounter and Final Encounter), Craftable
  • Desired Perks: Perpetual Motion (Enhanced), Target Lock (Enhanced)

Seventh Seraph Carbine

Aesthetically, the Seventh Seraph is a dream to use. It doesn’t stop there as its traditional looks pack a punch within Crucible. Originally from Season 10, it’s amazing that Seventh Seraph still remains an incredibly strong choice for medium range maps.

Its scope makes it incredibly easy to track enemies and land precision shots. With the addition of Dynamic Sway Reduction and Void Elemental Capacitor, the Seventh Seraph Carbine is one of the most stable Auto Rifles I have ever used. It is incredibly good paired with a special weapon such as a Fusion Rifle or Shotgun for close range damage.

  • Where to Acquire: Spire of the Watcher, Rare World Drop, Banshee-44
  • Desired Perks: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Elemental Capacitor (Void Recommended)

Braytech Werewolf

Excelling in medium to long-range, the Braytech Werewolf is a weapon that can only be acquired during the Festival of the Lost event. The good news is that most players who enjoyed the original Festival of the Lost received the PVP god roll and can even reclaim it from collections.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Braytech Werewolf is its long-range capabilities. It felt more than capable of handling maps like Midtown with minimal recoil and a lack of damage drop-off. This is likely due to its precision frame. The bad news is that Braytech Werewolf was removed in the 2023 Festival of Light, so new players currently have no way to acquire it.

  • Where to Acquire: Festival of the Lost (Removed in 2023)
  • Desired Perks: Zen Moment, Multikill Clip (Currated Roll)

The Last Breath

Fly into the Prophecy dungeon located in Legends for a chance at acquiring the Last Breath Auto Rifle. Those looking to maximize their chances of receiving The Last Breath should farm the second encounter of Prophecy. Also, be sure to open every secret chest found within the dungeon for a larger chance.

The Last Breath is an adaptive-frame Auto Rifle. For those not looking to enter Trials of Osiris in search of The Summoner, The Last Breath offers very similar base stats. Offering a minimal scope and pleasant design, The Last Breath was originally a Trials of the Nine weapon itself!

  • Where to Acquire: Propechy Second Encounter and Secret Chests
  • Desired Perks: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Adagio

Honorable Mention – Vex Mythoclast

Though it may not be an Auto Rifle, it sure feels like one. This Exotic is classified as a Fusion Rifle but it shoots in the style of an Auto Rifle. The exotic perk also allows the Vex Mythoclast to be fired in a Linear Fusion Rifle without needing special ammo. Players should note this is more useful in 6-player game modes such as Control as it requires 3 Kills to charge.

While the Vex Mythclast may not be the strongest choice in this list, its Exotic Perk comes in handy with the changes made to special ammo. Also, since Vex Mythoclast is actually a Fusion Rifle, players can stack Fusion Rifle mods and pair it with a special Fusion Rifle!

  • Where to Acquire: Vault of Glass Final Encounter (Rare Drop)
  • Desired Perks: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Adagio
