It’s been four months since Animal Crossing: New Horizons became available to the world, and whilst it’s certainly keeping people entertained during troubled times, it’s also been the subject of criticism for its lack of key features that still haven’t been added. We mentioned in our Animal Crossing: New Horizons Review that the game tries to be familiar and play it safe, yet it still misses out features of old. However, Nintendo have tried to fix this by adding some necessary fixes to enhance the Animal Crossing experience with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update. Namely, the introduction of ‘Island Backup’ – which is essentially cloud saving.

Users will now be able to backup their island instead of having to start over and lose everything they’ve built, but it will require Nintendo Switch Online to access. Players will also be able to visit other islands, or let other people visit their island, in a dream. Meaning that there’s no need to worry about their island being vandalized. In addition to this, the Summer month of August will see weekly firework spectaculars, with the ability to make custom fireworks to make the party feel a bit more personable.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update is set to drop on July 30th.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available to buy now on Nintendo Switch.
