This list has been updated with the latest votes from July 15.
Every single month, Animal Crossing Portal holds a poll to see which are the most popular Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is the most popular Villagers list for July 2020. We start from the beginning of the month, and update the article once the month’s second poll has been completed, around the 15th. Here you can see the fifteen most valuable Villagers in the game, which are currently worth around 15 to 20 million Bells, or a few thousand Nook Miles Tickets, each.

Marshal is exactly where he was after the second poll for June 2020. Somehow, he has managed to hold onto this spot through two polls now, and given just how popular he is, there’s every chance that he’ll remain in the top spot throughout July as well. Marshal is so sought after because of how damn cute he is. You can find him chilling out with most other Villagers, whom he gets on with very well, or chattering away to himself in a corner.
Raymond is another non-mover since the last poll. His dual coloured eyes are definitely the biggest draw for having him on your island, because his personality sucks. However, he does wear some of the best outfits in the game, and can be found cleaning away in a maid’s outfit in his house, or out and about with a book and an extremely smart waistcoat. He’s incredibly popular with other Villagers as well, so you’ll see them hanging out with him whenever they get the chance.
Sherb is one of one of the most relaxed Villagers you’ll come across in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He loves talking about food and relaxing, which makes him the perfect companion for players who just want to tend to their gardens and let their island do its own thing. If nothing else, Sherb’s natural colouring makes him calming to look at after a stressful day of worrying about Turnip prices.
Zucker is yet another non-mover in the top four of this week’s chart. He’s a lazy Octopus Villager that looks like food, and that’s nothing if not a winning combination in my book. Last month we covered exactly why he looks like the food known as takoyaki, a popular snack in Japan, so this month I think we’ll leave that out because it started to sound a little cannibalistic. Zucker is a great Villager to have around outside of looking like a snack, but it might just be hard to remember that because he looks so damn tasty.
Judy is the first mover this month, having shot up one place from sixth in the last poll. Her eyes are what makes her so special, since no other Villager has eyes that literally shine out of their skulls like stars. She’s an adorable Villager to have on your island, always out to brighten someone’s day no matter how awful they might feel. She really is a breath of fresh air.
Marina is all about pink, from the colour of her skin, to her clothes, and even the interior of her house. I find it a bit too much, but clearly a lot of people out there must love it, because she’s moved up from eighth place in the last poll. Marina isn’t anything special, but she is always fun to see around your island, since she’ll pop up in some really unexpected places. It’s also quite fun to just follow her footprints along the sandy beaches.
Since the July 15 vote, Stitches has moved all the way up from eleventh place! See what we wrote about him at the start of the month below.
Stitches has actually moved up from twelfth place in the last poll, showing that for some reason there are players who still like him out there. Personally, I think that Stitches is super creepy, which is hammered home even more by the fact that the interior of his house is packed with children’s play furniture. One positive thing about Stitches is that he’ll always be out and about with something nice to say, and positivity is really important for every island’s infrastructure.
With the July 15 update, Dom is up from thirteenth place at the start of the month. check out what we think of him below.
Dom is up from fifteenth in the last poll. In June, we thought that part of the reason he’d become so popular was his tie-die shirt, and his fabulous pink horns. Some even thought that players wanted him on their island as part of pride month, because it really does look like he’s wearing a rainbow. Whatever the reason, Dom is becoming more desirable by the day, and you should be trying to get him on your island for that reason alone. The interior of his house also looks a bit like a farm, which is very nice when you need a small relaxing place to chill.
In a shocking turn of events, the July 15 update saw Bob rise up from fifteenth place at the start of the month! See what we thought of him originally below.
Bob has dropped from fourteenth place in the last poll. At this point, I think he’s just happy to be here. He’s a purple cat, and has eyes that look like he’s planning how to kill you. He really is an unsettling character, and I could do without him on my island.
Not much changed for Ankha with the July 15 update. She moved down a little from ninth. See what we think of her below.
Ankha is a sphynx Villager inspired by the Egyptian heiroglyph of the same name. If you’re into ancient Egypt, then she’s an essential Villager for your island. Not only does she look the part, but the interior of her house is decked out like a mummy’s tomb. She’s been a consistent face in the most popular Villagers list since the game launched, which is cemented by the fact that she hasn’t moved since the last poll.
After the July 15 update, Audie dropped from eighth place. See her description from us below.
Audie has fallen one place this month, but she’s still a firm favourite among Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans. Her name was likely changed to honour the name of town mayor in one diehard Animal Crossing; New Leaf player’s game, which they’d packed more than 2,000 hours into. Now that player is piling on the hours in the latest game in the series, and Audie is probably on their island, unless they’ve sold her for 20 million Bells, that is.
The July 15 update saw Beau drop from tenth. Maybe this Villager won’t be around in the top 15 chart much longer. See what we think of them below.
Beau is quite a lovely Villager to have on your island, but they will rub others the wrong way. Clearly enough players still like Beau, because they haven’t shifted since the last poll, but I think that they’re a little smug. Beau might not bring much to your island’s exterior, but the interior of their house is really quite nice, if you like visiting your Villagers, that is.
Merengue rose up from fourteenth with the July 15 update. See what we think of her below.
Merengue is down from eleventh in the last poll. She’s been near the top of this list since the game launched, but now it finally seems like people are getting sick of seeing a rhino with a head that looks like a piece of strawberry shortcake. Merengue decorates the interior of her house with retro goodies, and it can be a great place to go if you’re into that sort of thing. Even if you aren’t, she’s great to have around as just one of the many Villagers who look like food.
I have no idea why, but players are dropping Fauna this month. The July 15 update sees her fall from eleventh place. Check out how lovely she is below.
Fauna is a being of pure light, a widely known fact among the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community. She’s the most lovely Villager you could hope to get on your island, and gets on with almost everyone. To top off how wonderful she is, you can even find her watering your flowers when they need it, so you’ll never have to water them by yourself again.
Coco is one of the creepiest Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As such, I have no idea how she managed to get back into the top 15 chart with the July 15 update. She is the only new Villager to be seen thanks to the new votes, so she must be something special. Previously she was in the top position of the second most popular Villagers list tier. Given that she resembles a statue that used to be buried with Japanese people in the past, she may now be seeing a rise in popularity due to the launch of Ghost of Tsushima.
Those are the most popular Villagers for July 2020 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. If you have any of these on your island right now, then you could get yourself a significant amount of Bells or Nook Miles Tickets. Just be careful with whoever you sell them to, and get your payment before they can enter the island.
