It’s been more than a week since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Repairing tools in the game is extremely useful to know. Most of the time you’ll find yourself frustrated as you’re farming wood or even fishing and have your tool break on you. This can thankfully be prevented by using a method that allows for them to be fixed and have durability set back as if it was brand new. So let’s get into how you can use a specific item to repair tools in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
Step 1: Purchase Customization Kits
Early in the game, you are given 50 customization kits from Tom Nook. If you don’t have any left or if you sold them by accident, no need to worry! You can purchase more from Nook’s Cranny for 600 bells. We recommend you just get a stack of 50 if you can afford it, as you’ll want to have a lot on you. This can also help in the long run of getting Nook Miles for spending bells. The customization kits are normally used for furniture and can also be used to customize your phone, but we’ll be using it to repair our tools.
Step 2: Head to a DIY Table
Now you just have to head to a DIY table and select the customize something option. We recommend that you just carry a DIY table or workbench with you at all times so you don’t have to return to a set spot when doing this. It makes things a lot easier and by at least a week or so, you should have the upgrades for more inventory space. Once you’re on the menu, select the tool that you want to repair. An unfortunate thing is that there is no durability meter, so you’ll have to just keep track of roughly how many times you’ve used the tool. Good tools get about 30 uses before breaking.
Step 3: Color!
Now the last thing to do is to select a color for your tool. Any time you customize your tool, it’ll reset its durability back as if it was brand new. Just be sure to try to ballpark how many uses you’ve gotten. This works with most of the tools in the game. Hopefully, sometime in the future, an update is released that adds a durability meter to keep track of uses. For now, this is the best method for not having to constantly craft or buy new tools. Congratulations! You’re now able to repair tools in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
