1) Marshal
Marshal was the most popular Villager for July, and it seems as though he’s firmly overtaken Raymond now as one of the most popular Villagers for August 2020. This guy seems to be more of a fan favourite rather than a brand new Villager. While some Villagers aren’t available through Amiibo cards, Marshal definitely is. It may simply be the fact that everyone now has a Raymond on their islands, and they want someone different to come along and spice things up a bit. Marshal does get on with other Villagers a lot better, so it’s not hard to see why you’d want him.
2) Raymond
Raymond is very much second best this month, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. His eyes are generally the reason that most people want him on their island. However, he also has an incredible fashion sense. It’s really quite something seeing him walking around your island in progressively more fabulous outfits.
3) Sherb
Sherb is our third non-mover for the month. He’s probably the laziest Villager you’ll ever come across. Most of the time, he’ll just be sitting around and annoying other Villagers, or talking about what he’s going to eat. I tend to find him a bit weird, because he likes asking others how he smells, and it never ends well.
4) Zucker
Zucker is sticking around in fourth for another month. He’s one of the tastiest looking Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That’s because he’s actually based on a Japanese snack. Everything from the way his hair looks, his green freckles, the fact that he’s an octopus, down to the chopsticks in his hair are all based on real life food.
5) Judy
Judy is one of the most desirable Villagers because of her eyes. Unlike Raymond, both of her eyes are the same. But also like Raymond, no one else has eyes like hers. If you look at her, you’ll notice that it appears as though stars are shining out of her face. These eyes make her extremely attractive to Villager collectors. Unfortunately, Judy knows this, and is pretty bloody obnoxious as a result.
6) Marina
Marina is pretty dull as far as Villagers go. She doesn’t have much to her, apart from the colour pink. She’s pink, her house is pink, and she generally loves pink things. With that said, the interior of her house is quite nice, and she’s great to have around if you have at least one other octopus Villager as well.
7) Stitches
I’m surprised that Stitches hasn’t moved so far this month. It seemed as though players really wanted to have him on their islands, but maybe they all came to their senses. He’s a terrifying amalgamation of various abandoned bears that have been stitched together. At least that’s what it looks like. He seems harmless enough. I’d still sleep with one eye open if he was on my island.
8) Dom
I had a theory that Dom was rising up in July due to Pride Month. His tie-dye shirt and multi-colored horns make him the perfect Pride Month Villager. He’s sitting in eighth for now, but I suspect he’ll soon drop down in the chart as people try to get other Villagers on their islands. Of all the most popular Villagers for August 2020, I think Dom stands the best chance of driving up the list.
9) Roald
Roald is actually up from the top position in Tier 2 last month. He’s easily seen the most movement over the last fifteen days or so, and why not? This guy is based on a real world explorer who visited the most remote locations on Earth. Having him on your island must be an absolute dream, at least for someone who is into human exploration and history. As you can see, he dresses up very well when the occasion calls for it, and he’s always up for a friendly chat.
10) Ankha
Ankha has been in tenth place for the last month or so now. Clearly she’s rather popular, but not quite popular enough to move up the chart. She’s based entirely on Egyptian history, and her name is actually a reference to the hieroglyph of the same name. Anyone who is into their Egyptology will find her an essential addition to their island.
11) Audie
Audie is another Villager who hasn’t moved at all this month. Whilst her appearance isn’t based on anyone real, her name is likely a reference to an incredible fan of the series. Many players want her on their island because that reference, but I think that popularity is starting to wane as time goes by. This may be Audie’s last month in the top tier.
12) Bob
Bob is a very nasty Villager, at least in my opinion. I really hate the guy, but he’s a purple cat, and clearly players love that. He’s actually fallen down from ninth place last month. It seems as though his time is limited on this list, and soon he’ll be relegated out of it altogether. I think that’s best based on some of the absolutely insane things that he says.
13) Beau
Poor Beau has fallen down from twelfth last time this list was updated. He’s great to have around, but I think people are starting to realise just how annoying he can be. I suspect that he’ll see a rise to the top tier over Christmas, but only time will tell. Regardless, he’ll always come out with these stupid sounding statements, my advice is to try and ignore him.
14) Fauna
Beau hasn’t moved at all this last vote, and that’s a great thing! She’s so lovely and nice to have around. She’ll always say something nice to cheer you up. The thing I love best about her is the fact that she’ll actively water your plants for you, which I struggle with a lot on my island. This is the Villager to have if you want to open up the game and always be greeted with something nice.
15) Coco
Finally, once again we have Coco rounding off the top tier of most popular Villagers for August 2020. Coco is based on a clay model that was once buried with people in ancient Japan. Last month, I speculated that the release of Ghost of Tsushima had somehow influenced this. With that game’s popularity still not waning, I’m almost certain that I’m right.
That is the current list for the most popular Villagers in August 2020 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Be sure to check back in later, because we’ll be updating the list with the most accurate vote then.
