Recently, inZOI’s producer and director announced that The Sims competitor has been delayed. Now, inZOI‘s early access release date is on March 28, 2025 instead of late 2024 release. The announcement was sent as a letter to the game’s community on inZOI’s official Discord server. The letter included an explanation made by inZOI’s producer and director, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim. Along with the announcement, Kjun made sure to apologize to the fans for inZOI‘s delay.
Kjun discussed how players’ feedback to inZOI: Character Studio contributed to Krafton’s decision to delay the game. “Your response and feedback made us realize the responsibility we have to provide players with the most complete experience possible,” Kjun said. In search of “the most complete experience possible,” it became clear that inZOI‘s delay was necessary.
Explaining the decision to delay inZOI, Kjun continued by saying, “After reviewing your feedback from inZOI: Character Studio and analyzing a wealth of data from our various play tests, we have made our decision to release inZOI in Early Access on March 28, 2025. We apologize that we could not bring you the game sooner, but this decision reflects our commitment to giving inZOI the best possible start.”
Kjun Compares the Decision to Delay inZOI to Raising a Child
After announcing the news, Kjun went on to compare inZOI to raising a child:
It Is said that among primates, raising a human child to adulthood takes the longest time because humans must be prepared to endure and adapt to their ever-changing surroundings. The extra love and care that is required to properly nurture a child is how I see our journey with inZOI—a game that we will be nurturing together from its Early Access birth. This change in our release date represents our dedication to giving inZOI a stronger foundation, so we can embark on this journey together in the best way possible.

inZOI‘s delay will give the developers a chance to “continue to improve areas that need attention.” Kjun described how the team hopes inZOI would turn out as “a game that truly captures the essence of life simulation.” There is some worry that Krafton might cancel inZOI. This is because the news comes after Life By You‘s cancelation. However, Krafton wants to create a game players “can enjoy for years to come.” As a Sims competitor, inZOI being delayed puts any new competition on hold. If inZOI gets its release in 2025 as planned, a new competition between life simulators will start.
