It’s been some time since The Sims 4′s release and now is the perfect time to catch up on this series. Most of the expansion packs, and all of the game and stuff packs, for the Sims 4 are now on sale on Origin until July 28.
The Sims 4 was controversial on release because it was missing basic elements which had been present as far back as the original Sims games, such as pools and toddlers. These features were added in a free patch, and the Sims 4 remains popular.
Crucial Additions
Since its release, the Sims 4 has had a number of expansions, game packs and stuff packs released. These packs have added long-term value to the base game, and some of them are crucial to The Sims 4‘s staying power. These packs bring holidays, seasons, a huge variety of clothes, hairstyles, furniture, and other styling options to your sims’ world. They also bring in valuable new gameplay options, such as new ways of parenting or magic systems.
Expansion Packs
Expansion packs have been a staple of The Sims franchise since the first series, and it’s no different in The Sims 4. There are currently 9 full expansion packs for The Sims 4. While the expansion packs are fairly pricey, they come with a huge range of build-and-buy and create-a-sim items, new interactions, and new features. Most of the expansions have been well-received. Some are old favourites such as Seasons and Discover University. It’s a fandom consensus that expansion packs change the game significantly, and are well worth the investment in the long-term.
Game Packs
Game packs are new in The Sims franchise, and were introduced in The Sims 4. Game packs are in-between expansion and stuff packs. They generally feature a nice range of new items built around a core concept. While they don’t have quite as many items as expansion packs, they’re an attractive option for those looking for a variety of items with less of a price tag. Examples of game packs are Realm of Magic, Vampires, and Dine Out. There are currently 8 game packs for The Sims 4.
Stuff Packs
Stuff packs are the smallest of the lot, and generally have a few dozen items loosely based on a core concept. With their small size, they’re also the cheapest. Some would argue they are not worth the money because of how small they are. To make up for their tiny offerings, there are 17 stuff packs. This number far exceeds both the game and expansion packs. Examples are Laundry Day and Kids Room Stuff.
The latest stuff pack, Nifty Knitting, will be out soon, but be sure to grab what you can on Origin before the sale ends!
