It has been officially revealed that a brand-new expansion pack is on the way for The Sims 4, titled High School Years. The release date has been set for July 28th. High School Years will be available for PC, Mac, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox consoles and is now available for pre-order. The expansion is being released as part of the Rise & Shine season in The Sims 4, spanning across July until September. The roadmap was only teased a few days ago, and already the first content as part of this season has been revealed.
High School Years is the 12th expansion pack for The Sims 4, the last one being Cottage Living, which came out last year. As the title suggests, this expansion will focus on teens and their high school experiences. Teenagers already go to high school in The Sims 4, but this expansion pack will completely flesh it out, as well as expanding on the teen life stage. Until now, teens have felt rather overlooked, with most DLC focusing on adults, kids, and toddlers. Now, teenagers get an entire expansion dedicated to them.
Teen Sims will live out the complete high school experience; going to classes, going to lunch at the cafeteria, extracurricular activities such as cheerleading and football, taking weekly exams and doing homework, and forging high-school friendships. Teenagers will also be able to attend prom, plus there’s the high school graduation to look out for. Teenagers will also be able to pull off pranks, have pillow fights, and sneak out of the house via the window and trellis.
Coming with The Sims 4 High School Years is a new world: the town of Copperdale, home to Copperdale High. This will be the first time in the entire history of The Sims where you’ll be able to go with your teen Sims to school (not counting the University expansions). As well as the high school, Copperdale is also home to an amusement park, complete with fun attractions such as a ferris wheel, haunted house, tunnel of love, and a photobooth. Seven of the lots featured in Copperdale have been created by community creators. It is common for community creators to put together content for The Sims 4, as seen in past DLC and updates.
Another collaboration comes from Depop, the circular fashion marketplace app. Real-life Depop sellers have designed new outfits for The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion. Sims can become “Simfluencers” by promoting these new fashion items using the new in-game app Trendi. To commemorate the collaboration, artist Monica Ahanonu has created a mural that can be seen in Copperdale.
If you purchase The Sims 4 High School Years before September 8th, you will receive 3 exclusive bonus items from the Vibing Streamer Gear Digital Content. These include the Groove Tube Wireless Speaker, Spine Reticulating Gamer Chair, and Tri Hard LED Panels.
In conjunction with the release of High School Years, The Sims 4 base game will be receiving an update. A new feature will be introduced to help your teen Sims discover their identity, plus body hair will be added to the base game. Additionally, with High School Years, Sims will be able to groom and manage their naturally-growing body hair.
There’s a lot to take in with this big announcement. If you want to find out more about The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Pack and the upcoming base game update, be sure to tune into the livestream on Twitch or YouTube on Friday July 15th at 11am PDT.
