Many players of The Sims 4 have probably been getting ready to help their Sims plan their dream weddings with the newest Game Pack, My Wedding Stories. However, on February 16th, the day before the pack was due to be released, The Sims team at EA published a statement regarding the pack’s release. To sum it up, My Wedding Stories has been pushed back from its original release date of February 17th. It will now be coming out on February 23rd, delaying the pack’s release by about a week.
This decision comes after The Sims team recently decided to not release My Wedding Stories in Russia, due to the game having a same-sex couple and not wanting to compromise the content of the game. This announcement was originally made on February 9th. However, a week later, after receiving feedback, they’ve changed their minds, deciding to release the game in Russia after all. This means that the Game Pack’s release has been delayed, but only by a week, so it won’t be too long a wait. The Sims team also noted that the game won’t be altered or changed for its release in Russia.
My Wedding Stories will not be changed for its release in Russia, including the same-sex couple Dom and Cam.
The Sims are very supportive of diversity and equality, being inclusive of all races, ethnicities, and sexualities. In achieving these goals, The Sims have worked with organizations such as the It Gets Better project, as well as members of the LGBT community, to create new content and make sure that everything and everyone is portrayed accurately in the games.
My Wedding Stories is the 11th Game Pack to be released for The Sims 4. As the title suggests, this DLC is centered around weddings, allowing you to control and plan every detail of your Sims’ big day. The Game Pack also comes with a brand-new world called Tartosa, a beautiful coastal Italian-inspired town, complete with stores and services for weddings. One of the pre-made families living in Tartosa are Dom and Cam, two elderly female Sims who are married. The couple were featured in the official announcement trailer for My Wedding Stories, as well as appearing on the cover of the DLC. On February 15th, The Sims 4 base game received an update preparing it for My Wedding Stories. The update brought new color swatches to existing Create-A-Sim and Build Mode items, as well as a new lot type and relationship option in Create-A-Sim.
The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack will come out on the new global release date of February 23rd on PC, Mac, Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S, and PS4/5 for your regional pricing.
