The Sims 4 is always evolving with its numerous packs and free content updates, not to mention frequent bug fixes. The latest arrived on May 28th, 2024, where a whole bunch of current issues in The Sims 4 was addressed. These bugs might have affected your saved game, so let’s take a good look at every last thing that this latest patch got sorted.
The Sims 4 Base Game
Let’s start with the bug fixes for the core game of The Sims 4, available to everyone:
- When cleaning up dishes, ones placed in corners will now also be cleaned and not ignored as before.
- Plants will no longer grow weeds when the plant in question is currently Out of Season (or not producing harvestables, so to speak). Additionally, if a plant has weeds and then it goes Out of Season, the weeds will disappear until it goes back into season.
- Campfires won’t produce any fires on Lots anymore, or at least not as many as before. This was a problem that was getting a little out of hand, having a 50% chance of triggering every 10 minutes in-game and causing lots of objects to get burnt.
- You might have tried to throw something away in the trash can, only for the game to tell you that there is no trash can on the Lot, even if there was! This problem has now been rectified.
- When leaving a Lot or editing a household, a Sim’s skills will no longer randomly change or increase.
- The Skills list is now arranged in alphabetical order instead of the random order it’s been in for a while now, making it easier for you to locate skills in the list.
- The packs for The Sims 4 should all be now listed in the correct order when using the Filter option. This specifically addresses For Rent EP, Home Chef Hustle SP, and Crystal Creations SP being in the wrong places, but are now in their correct order.
- The Daily Task tab under Careers will no longer be blank.
- Sims who have the ability to Summon Grilled Cheese should now be able to queue it without it dropping from the interaction list.
- You should no longer have the problem of Sims getting stuck in the ground and continuously Swimming Laps if a pool has been removed in the middle of it.
- The notification light for the Calendar should remain on if you go travelling to another Lot with your Sim(s).
- With customizable pronouns, there were a couple of issues with their appearance in Romantic Relationship phone calls, but they should now appear correctly.
- With merging and moving households, Sims can now do this with Sims currently not in any of the worlds in The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 on Console (PlayStation and Xbox)
There’s been one fix concerning the console ports of The Sims 4:
- When you switch from Build Mode from the world map, a red bar should no longer appear at the top right corner.
Performance Fixes
This section focuses on performance fixes in The Sims 4.
- Some optimizations have been made so that the game uses up less memory. This in turn will reduce the number of crashes, as well as improving frame rates, and make simulation more responsive.
- There have been other adjustments made so that Lots should now load a bit faster.
DirectX 11 Added to The Sims 4
In this latest update, DirectX 11 is now in The Sims 4 as an optional feature. It will be made available fully in a later update for Windows. By choosing to use DirectX 11 to run The Sims 4, you can expect to see enhanced performance and graphics quality. This should improve overall gameplay and performance quality, and the general experience playing The Sims 4. This feature is quite significant in The Sims 4‘s ongoing improvements as it can lead to more immersive and detailed worlds in the future! Get to Work Expansion
There’s a fix for the first Expansion of The Sims 4, Get to Work:
- When aliens age up, they’ll no longer have notable changes facially, regarding placement and size and such.
Cats & Dogs & City Living Expansions
This fix addresses a problem found with both City Living and Cats & Dogs installed:
- Puppies, kittens, and also small dogs can now use the elevator at penthouses to go outside if they need to use the potty. This will save time and energy with your Sims having to carry and place them outside for them to go for a pee.
It seems that puppies, kittens and even little dogs have finally figured out how to use the elevator to go potty.
Seasons Expansion
This fix for Seasons goes back to the weeding issue found with The Sims 4 base game:
- During the winter season, the weeding animation will no longer get stuck on repeat, plus the Sim will actually be able to remove all the offending weeds.
Island Living Expansion
This fix is for The Sims 4 Island Living:
- Conservationists who also happen to be Mermaids can now complete the active work task “Snorkel in Mua Pel’am”.
Eco Lifestyle Expansion
A minor fix for The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle:
- Nose rings will not break anymore when paired with brow piercings that come with this particular pack.
Cottage Living Expansion
This fix for Cottage Living is about chickens and eggs:
- Both hatchable and spoiled eggs will remain visible and not disappear from the chicken coop when Sims travel to the Lot.
High School Years Expansion
There are a couple of fixes for The Sims 4 High School Years:
- Teens active on Social Bunny will no longer be able to send flirty messages to adults or household family members.
- Teens will now get promoted to the next grade up whenever they complete all tasks and ace their exams at school.
Growing Together Expansion
There’s a fix just for Growing Together:
- You can now get the “Had a Baby” Milestone if your Sim has a baby via Science Baby or gives birth at the hospital (not the one from Get to Work, but the rabbithole hospital).
Horse Ranch Expansion
Horse Ranch has a few fixes available with this patch:
- Sims will no longer autonomously want to buy mini goats and sheep. You might have noticed sometimes during gameplay that the purchase mini goats and sheep menu would come up, even if you hadn’t initiated the interaction. This fix stops that from randomly happening unless you direct it.
- If you sell nectar to the mysterious rancher, the nectar will properly increase in value.
- Horses will no longer get stuck if they sleep too near the horse training ball.
For Rent Expansion
To date, the most recent Expansion Pack, For Rent, has some fixes:
- The property ownership of the Tomarang Lot “Tam Nang Sands” will be recognized in the owned rental tab.
- Sims should no longer get the “Unpleasant Surroundings” moodlet when using the pressure cooker and kettle.
- When hovering over Tomarang in the world select menu, the tourist location icons should appear correctly.
Dine Out Game Pack
Finally, there are a few fixes for the Dine Out Game Pack:
- The interaction “Order for Table” should clear in the queue after the order has arrived.
- Something for those who have The Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack installed: you can now add waffles to the restaurant menu!
That covers everything fixed in this latest patch for The Sims 4. If you still have issues with your game that this patch didn’t cover, or you discover any new problems, make sure to report them to EA Answers so they can hopefully be fixed in the future!
