With celebrations of The Sims‘ 25th anniversary in full swing, it seems that there’s a sudden influx of announcements and upcoming content. Today is no different, with the arrival of a new season, Motherlode, in The Sims 4 and a roadmap giving us a look at what’s to come from now in February right up until the beginning of May. There’s plenty of stuff coming in the next few months, so let’s look closer at what’s dropping in The Sims 4.

New Expansion Pack

We’ll start with the biggest reveal, and this isn’t a hint or a teaser, but a proper announcement. It’s been rumored and leaked, but now we can officially announce that there’s not only a brand-new Expansion Pack coming to The Sims 4, but we know what it’s called: Businesses & Hobbies.

As of yet, what exactly this Expansion is is still a bit of a mystery, but it can be easy to guess. The 25th anniversary livestream dropped a teaser clip of the upcoming Expansion, showing a Sim getting a tattoo done in a tattoo parlor. This is very reminiscent of The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion Pack, which allowed Sims to pursue active careers and ventures such as being a firefighter, inventor, stylist, and tattoo artist. It also brings to mind The Sims 2 FreeTime Expansion Pack, which enhanced hobbies in the game and gave Sims rewards for indulging in them.

It’s likely that Businesses & Hobbies could introduce businesses run from home, a feature not yet present in The Sims 4. Active careers have been a thing since the very first Expansion, Get to Work, with more being added since, including freelancer careers. Get to Work also allows Sims to run a business, but only from an owned business property and not from home. Businesses & Hobbies might change that though.

This is of course all speculation, but we’ll find out very soon what The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack is really about. On February 6th, the reveal trailer will be dropped, giving us the tell-all we need to know about the 18th Expansion for The Sims 4.

Additionally, on February 18th, there will be a deep dive for Businesses & Hobbies, where gameplay will be showcased.

The final piece of information is that The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack will release on March 6th

Three New Kits

As well as a big new Expansion Pack, The Sims 4 is also getting three new Kits. However, these won’t drop until May 1st, so it’s quite a wait yet. Like Businesses & Hobbies, we know what the titles of these Kits are: Restoration Workshop, Golden Hours, and Kitchen Clutter. As with many Kits, these will release together on the same day. We don’t yet have any further information about these Kits, including screenshots, but these should become available nearer to the release date.

A Mystery Bonus

The final point highlighted in The Sims 4 Motherlode roadmap is a bit of a mystery. In The Sims‘ 25th Birthday roadmap, a pair of eyes were set in place of February 25th. This same date and the very same pair of eyes appeared in the brand-new Motherlode roadmap. However, we’re no closer to knowing exactly what this is. Hopefully soon we should hear more information, unless the surprise is revealed on this date. We already know about The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies. It could possibly have something to do with the new game being developed, Project Rene, but we can’t say for sure until we know more.
