The latest update for The Sims 4 (March 17, 2026) has arrived, along with the brand-new Marketplace feature. This will change the way that players purchase content for The Sims 4, including Kits, and purchase and download new Maker Packs from creators.
Not only this, but the update also comes with a list of bug fixes, as well as addressing issues regarding obsessive Sim behavior, which should stop Sims making a beeline for the computer, among many other things.
Here’s everything that’s been included and addressed in the March 17, 2026 update for The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 Marketplace (PC and Mac Only)
The most significant change with this update is the arrival of The Sims 4 Marketplace. Currently, this is only available for PC and Mac players, but it should be coming to consoles soon.
With The Sims 4 Marketplace, you’ll be able to locate all curated creators and creations for your game to buy new Maker Packs, as well as purchase Expansions, Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and Kits using the new Moola in-game currency.
The Pack Select that was originally in the Game Options Menu now appears in the Marketplace under My Collection. You’ll be able to manage as normal the games you have active in your saved game, with the addition of managing Marketplace downloaded content.
Additionally, new filters have been added to the Gallery to make it easier to find the content you’re looking for.

All Bug Fixes in March 17 Update
There wouldn’t be an update for The Sims 4 without a host of bug fixes, and with the March 17 edition, a lot has been covered. Among many things, this includes Prom being brought back (High School Years) and addressing issues with Sims’ obsessive behavior.
Top 5 Most Voted Fixes
The following is the top 5 fixes as voted for by The Sims community. These are the bugs that have been flagged up the most and taken priority with being addressed.
- When Sims blink, their eyes should now properly close.
- Prom is back! If you have The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion, this event returns to your Calendar. This fixes both old and new saves. Additionally, you can now complete Prom goals.
- Fixed the issue with Pet (Cats & Dogs) and Horse (Horse Ranch) data being lost in Premade Households. Only fixes new saves, not old ones.
- Sims should now feel more inclined to talk with Sims they are already familiar with instead of automatically striking up conversations with strangers.
- Cows and Llamas (Cottage Living) previously stuck in Sim’s Inventories can now be moved back into Animal Sheds upon relocating to a new home lot.
Prom is back in The Sims 4 High School Years thanks to this update.
List of Improvements With Sim Autonomy
This particular issue has been flagged up a lot by players, and now, it has been fixed not just in The Sims 4 base game, but across several packs that were affected. When in autonomy mode, Sims should no longer behave obsessively towards certain objects or act inappropriately towards other Sims without direct control from the player.
The Sims 4 Base Game
- Sims should no longer flirt excessively with each other, which could create serious issues with unwanted Jealousy and Cheating.
- If you’re fed up of your Sims constantly using computers and phones, you need to turn to the Likes/Dislikes panel in Create-A-Sim. You can now assign whether your Sims like or dislike using the computer and phone, which should reduce how often they use either device.
- A Sim autonomously using the phone will have a cooldown of 6 hours, unless they are an NPC, Teen, or Likes Phones.
- A Sim autonomously using a computer will not use it again for 12 hours, unless they are an NPC, Geek, or Likes Computers. They’ll also use computers if it’s an assigned activity in a Getaway, Club, Small Business, or Dynasty.
- A Sim who automatically “Trolls teh Forums” on a computer will not do so again for 12 hours, and will also need to have at least Level 6 Mischief Skill, unless they are Evil, Childish, a Geek, Erratic, Hot-Headed, or Mean.
- A Sim who destroys a Dollshouse won’t do so again for a while, and only if they’re Angry and have the traits Evil, Hot-Headed, Mean, or Hates Children.
- A Sim who automatically mixes a drink won’t want to do so again for a whole day.
- If a Sim goes swimming, they won’t do so again unless they are an NPC, at a Pool Venue, during Pool and Birthday Parties, and if their assigned activity is from a Club, Getaway, Small Business, or Dynasty. Also doesn’t count for Merfolk and PlantSims.
- A Sim who plays a Violin or Guitar will refrain from doing so again unless they are an NPC, Music Lover, Likes Violin/Guitar, or is an assigned activity in a Social Organization.
- A Sim who autonomously plays chess will not play again for another day. Only for active Sims. Doesn’t apply to Clubs or Getaways.
- A cooldown is now available for Sims dancing at a lot, unless they Like Dancing, have the Dance Machine trait, and other circumstances. Doesn’t apply to NPCs. Cooldown disappears when going to another lot.
- Unless a Sim is a Music Lover, they shouldn’t turn on the radio, at least as often.
- Sims should refrain from floor exercises (Push-Ups, Stretches, Sit-Ups) unless they are Energized at a Gym Venue or have the Active trait.
- Foodies who watch the Culinary Training Video on TV will have a cooldown of 2 days.
- Child Sims who use the Jungle Gym (specifically the Spaceship one) will get a one-day cooldown period, unless they are an NPC or it’s part of a Social Organization activity. Disappears upon leaving lot.
- Sims should stop frequently using the Lump of Clay, unless they Like Pottery or are Creative.
Sims’ behaviors should be corrected so it’s less obsessive.
Autonomous Behavior in The Sims 4 Packs
- Discover University: Cooldown applies to Soccer Ball, unless Sim is NPC or Likes Fitness.
- Cottage Living: Cross-Stitch has cooldown period, unless Sim Likes Cross-Stitch or is Social Organization activity.
- Lovestruck: Sim should no longer automatically want to play Who’s Up Party Games if currently writing a book on a computer.
- Adventure Awaits: Play with Paper Airplane has cooldown, except for Likes Papercrafting Sims.
- Spa Day: Cooldown for Yoga Mat, except High Maintenance and Likes Wellness Sims (Level 2 Wellness). Disappears when leaving lot and for assigned activity.
- Movie Hangout: Sims shouldn’t want to use Popcorn Popper so frequently.
Animals Multiplying (Cottage Living and Horse Ranch)
A major issue that has been addressed in the March 17 update for The Sims 4 involves animals multiplying in Animal Sheds, Chicken Coops, and Mini Goats and Sheep. This should no longer occur.
Animals should stop multiplying now.
General Fixes (The Sims 4 Base Game and Packs)
- Base Game: Unflirty Sims no longer get the ick from being hugged.
- Base Game #2: Fixed issue with Simulation error occurring when hanging painting on wall and then putting in Inventory.
- Seasons: Flowers shouldn’t get stuck when Flower Arranging.
- For Rent: Landlord can once again “Do Inspection and Maintenance” on both broken and functioning objects in Tenant Lots, either during events or otherwise.
- Life & Death: Design adjusted to Ornate Mystery Rug.
- Royalty & Legacy: Family Tree fixed issues with overlapping and connections.
- Royalty & Legacy #2: Crash should no longer occur when returning to game after deleting Capp Household from Ondarion.
- Royalty & Legacy #3: Verdemar lot in Ondarion no longer reversed.
- Parenthood: Addressed issue with unrelated Child and Teen Sims growing up in same household getting Super Sibling status and later having relationship. Renamed to Childhood Besties and Childhood Frenemy.
- StrangerVille: Should no longer be a Script Call Error when Plant Containment Cell is on site and trying to place other objects.
A few fixes have been made to Royalty & Legacy, the latest Expansion Pack.
Updated Create-A-Sim and Build Mode Tags
The final stage of the March 17 update for The Sims 4 makes a few changes to some of the tags assigned to the CAS and Build Mode items, to make for easier navigation and locating of these items.
Base Game Tags
- All Makeup under Everyday is now available in Hot and Cold Weather.
- 43 items sorted under Kids’ Decorations.
- Various lights under Wall Lights now appear in Outdoor Lights.
- Cute Critter Basket now under Objects by Function > Kids > Kids’ Decorations.
- Swatch color for (yfMakeupLipstick_EF28GlossyLips_RedRuby) appears more accurate.
- (yfBottom_SDX040CCHSkirtPleated) no longer appears for Masculine Sims.
- The Pencil Holder object now sorted into Clutter.
- Wicker-Work Diaper Storage now under Objects by Function > Kids > Kids’ Furniture.
- Bow, Bow, Bow! now under Objects by Function > Activities and Skills > Life Event Activities.
- Martian Soil wall pattern now under Misc rather than Paneling.
- Sweetpea and Firehouse Brick wall patterns now in Masonry and Siding.
- Sycee of the Prosperous Moon, Right Side Up Gnome, and Bob the Butler Fancy Sculpture now under Decorations > Sculptures.
Several items have been added to the Kids’ Decoration category.

- Multiple: Several loveseats and benches now register as benches for lot requirements.
- Lovestruck: Lovestruck Beard swatches now display in correct order.
- Lovestruck #2: (ymBottom_EP16Jeans) now appear as a Masculine Fashion Choice in CAS filters.
- Life & Death: Perilous Paneling and Patterned & Perilous Paneling now appear under Paneling, and Lunar Reverie in Wallpaper.
- Enchanted by Nature: Wild Uncanny Cane plant now under Roof Sculptures and Outdoor Plants.
- Backyard Stuff: (yfTop_SP08TeeBoatNeck_GradientPink) no longer sorts as Yellow in CAS filters.
- Moschino Stuff: Libearian bookshelf and I’m So Shiny! surface removed from Sculptures.
- Holiday Celebration: Kinara and Menorah lights now under Lighting > Table Lamps.
- Holiday Celebration #2: Holiday Snowman and Pre-strung Tree of Lights now under Lighting > Outdoor Lights.
- Kitchen Clutter: All clutter items from Kitchen Clutter now visible when sorting by pack filter and under Misc Decorations in Build Mode’s room view.
- Forever Friends Event: (ymTop_EV0641TankTwistBack_SolidBlackCyan) no longer appears for Masculine Frame Sims.
- Nature’s Calling Event: Cove Stone – Round, Cove Stone – Flat, and Cove Stone Cluster now under Outdoor Plants > Rocks.
