When you play The Sims 4, one of the many questions you ask yourself is where your Sims are going to live. Even without the numerous DLC, you have a choice of three worlds to live in, and choosing between them can be difficult. Where you move your Sims into is based on many factors; what properties are available, your Sim’s budget, whether you want to build your own Lot from scratch or move into a pre-built home, the type of world, what’s there to do in the neighborhood, how many bedrooms and bathrooms there are, Lot Traits… on and on. At times, selecting a new home can be overwhelming, and living in the right place makes a difference. That’s why I’ve decided to do a ranking of all the available worlds in The Sims 4 to date.
As of now, there are 21 residential worlds in The Sims 4. I should note that I have yet to play The Sims 4 Strangerville Game Pack or The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack, but I will include the worlds Strangerville and Glimmerbrook in this list based on what I know about them (if I do get the packs and play them, I’ll update this listicle accordingly). I will rank the worlds from worst to best.
Forgotten Hollow
Came With: The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack
There’s a few reasons why I’ve put Forgotten Hollow last. This world was specifically catered to the Vampires gameplay. It’s gloomy and gothic, ideal living conditions for vampires, or if you like spooky or gothic worlds. There’s really not much in Forgotten Hollow, namely a few residential lots home to pre-made vampires. The downside is that because vampires never age up, it’s unlikely that any of the residents will move out, even with neighborhood stories set up. There are a few vacant pre-made Lots. However, there are no commercial Lots at all. If you’re looking for vampire cures, this place also has the ingredients needed to procure the potion.
Forgotten Hollow is similar to Moonwood Mill, which is more-or-less home to werewolves. However, Moonwood Mill is bigger and has more there than Forgotten Hollow, which is why that world is ranked higher.
Generally speaking, unless you play vampire Sims or are a fan of spooky worlds, Forgotten Hollow is likely a world you won’t visit very much.
Magnolia Promenade
Came With: The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack
This is another single-neighborhood world, and another you’re unlikely to travel to often. Magnolia Promenade only has four Lots, three of them occupied with pre-built businesses, and the other Lot being empty. This doesn’t make Magnolia Promenade an ideal place to reside in. In my opinion, it feels like an extension of Willow Creek, with a similar design to the world. It even has a steamboat docked up.
Saying this, Magnolia Promenade does have its uses. I like to plonk down a restaurant in the vacant Lot. Plus, there’s nothing to stop you from replacing the businesses with other Lots. If you like running a business in The Sims 4, this world was built for that.
Glimmerbrook
Came With: The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack
This is one of the two residential worlds in The Sims 4 that I haven’t played in yet. This makes it a little trickier for me to evaluate for this ranking, but nevertheless, I feel I should still include it.
Every world that comes with a pack is designed with the pack’s gameplay in mind. It’s like a new playground for that particular DLC. Glimmerbrook is no exception, a home for the Realm of Magic gameplay. This world caters to spellcasters, so naturally there’s a Lot where you can buy potions, wands and flying broomsticks. There’s also a portal that takes you to the titular Realm of Magic, a secret world where all the magic really is.
If you play as a spellcaster Sim, moving them into this world is pretty much a no-brainer. Everything they need is right here. However, in terms of practicality, Glimmerbrook may not necessarily be the best place to live, unless you are a spellcaster. There’s only three residential Lots, two of which are already occupied, and only one empty Lot. Plus, there’s only one commercial Lot, and that is specifically for spellcasters. The bottom line is, unless your Sim is a spellcaster or planning to become one, you’re not likely to come here often.
Moonwood Mill
Came With: The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack
In many ways, Moonwood Mill is similar to Forgotten Hollow. In that sense, it is a world that caters to a specific type of supernatural being: in this case, werewolves. Moonwood Mill really is the hub of werewolves, home to two werewolf packs: the Moonwood Collective and the Wildfangs. You can even transform into a werewolf here. To be honest, if your Sim is a werewolf, this really is the best place to live, and it might be difficult them living elsewhere.
There are a few reasons why I ranked Moonwood Mill higher than Forgotten Hollow (and a few other worlds). It has one neighborhood like Forgotten Hollow, but it feels much bigger. It has commercial Lots as well, such as a library and an outdoor bar. There’s an affordable starter home as well, which is a big thumbs-up for any world in The Sims.
While this world is better than Forgotten Hollow in my opinion, there are a few reasons why I ranked it quite low in the list. There are only 5 Lots; one vacant home, one occupied home, a library, bar, and an empty Lot; making it quite sparse. Also, if your Sim isn’t a werewolf or not planning to be one, they might feel very out of place here.
Del Sol Valley
Came With: The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack
I quite like The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack. The Actor career is good fun, as is the Media Production skill and the whole set up of being a celebrity. The Build Mode content is pretty good too, and the Create-A-Sim selection is decent. As for the world that comes with Get Famous, Del Sol Valley, it’s one of those that isn’t bad, but could be better.
Del Sol Valley is designed for both celebrity and non-celebrity Sims. There’s a neighborhood with big fancy mansions, and then another for more modest and cheaper dwellings. The third neighborhood is all commercial Lots, such as a park, museum, gym, and lounges. Del Sol Valley is also home to the Actor active career, where the movie studios are, although unfortunately you cannot go there unless your Sim is an actor, and only when they’re at work.
Del Sol Valley is quite a unique world in The Sims 4. The commercial neighborhood has its own Walk of Fame, which can be interacted with. Once your Sim reaches level 5 Celebrity status, they can place down their own star, which is pretty cool. Also, while The Sims 4 base game has lounges, these ones are different as you have to be a celebrity before you’re even allowed in.
While Del Sol Valley isn’t a bad world, it does have some setbacks that stops it from ranking higher on this list. The world map makes Del Sol Valley seem quite big, but it feels like only a portion of it is used, which is disappointing when you compare it to other worlds. Also, the modest suburban neighborhood only hosts three Lots, one of which is for building your own Lot. This isn’t exactly uncommon in The Sims 4, but when this particular neighborhood is populated with houses with the sole purpose of aesthetic, it feels like another wasted potential. The other issue is with the celebrity neighborhood. Two of the three mansions are already occupied, and while they are ideal for celebrities, you’d have to be at least a level 4 celebrity and have pots of money before you can even think about living there.
- Del Sol Valley as seen in world map view.

- Just look at this amazing view of Del Sol Valley from the hills of the celebrity mansions!

- The boulevard is home of high-end celebrity hangouts, plus the Walk of Fame.

- For more humble dwellings, look to Mirage Park.

Britechester
Came With: The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack
Britechester is home to not one, but two universities: University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute. They both function the same way, but have a few differences. U-Brite (as it’s called in the game) is a more traditional old-fashioned university (think Oxford) while Foxbury is more modern. Each university has their own Distinguished Degrees, meaning that if your Sims enrol in these degrees and complete them, when they enrol in a career in line with the degree they studied, they’ll receive boosts in their career such as starting at a higher level and getting a bigger salary and bonus.
There are other differences as well, such as U-Brite’s colors being green and yellow and Foxbury’s being red and blue; U-Brite’s mascot being a green dragon called Darby and Foxbury’s a red lobster called Larry; and having different organizations, for example, U-Brite having an art society and debate club, while Foxbury has the Brainiacs and the Robot Savants. You can see how each university is different, and in truthfulness, it’s difficult choosing which university to send my Sims to because they’re both so good (I usually go with the one that has the Distinguished Degree I want my Sim to do).
There’s a third neighborhood in Britechester that either university Sims can visit, which includes a bar and library. The library is especially good if your Sim wants to study somewhere quiet, and the bar is a good place to have a drink, mingle with their fellow classmates, and let off some steam after all their hard work studying.
Britechester serves as an excellent place for your Sims to live and study in while at university. Each of the university neighborhoods are great to live in, attractive and immersing you in that university life. However, it can be hard to live in Britechester if your Sim isn’t a student enrolled there. There are just three non-university Lots, designed as townhouses, and even if they weren’t occupied, Britechester doesn’t offer much if you’re not a student. That’s why even though I love Britechester as a university setting, it’s not very practical otherwise and why I’ve ranked it in the lower half of this list.
- The world map view of Britechester.

- University of Britechester

- Foxbury Institute

- Gibbs Hill is situated between the two universities.

Strangerville
Came With: The Sims 4 Strangerville Game Pack
Strangerville is one of two residential worlds I have yet to play in, although I have to say, I have been far more tempted to play The Sims 4 Strangerville Game Pack than Realm of Magic. While Strangerville is a story-driven pack, the biggest selling point for me is the titular world it is shipped with, Strangerville.
On the surface, Strangerville is a quiet secluded town set in the desert. However, as you play the story and meet the inhabitants, you realize there’s more to Strangerville than meets the eye. You don’t have to play the story if you don’t want to, but it certainly brings some unique character to the world. If you just want to live in Strangerville without getting into the story, that’s fine.
Apart from the strange goings on, it’s a good place to live if you like desert settings, particularly for starter Sims. There are plenty of Lots to choose from, including a crashed airplane converted into a home, and a trailer park, both unique in The Sims 4. There are only two commercial Lots, a library and a bar, but in such a quiet quaint town, that’s to be expected. There’s also the one-of-a-kind science lab Lot, but that’s part of Strangerville‘s story.
I would love to play in Strangerville one day, and I’m sure I will get to.
Newcrest
Came With: The Sims 4
Newcrest is one of three worlds that comes packaged with the base game of The Sims 4. Newcrest hasn’t been there from the very start of The Sims 4, having been added in later for free in a patch (among many other things).
Newcrest is not only different from the other base game worlds, but all worlds that come with The Sims 4 and its numerous DLC. What’s special is that Newcrest has three neighborhoods, a bunch of Lots varying in size – but they are all totally blank. The idea is to either place down a pre-built Lot from the Gallery, or build your own! You can make this world whatever you want, filling it with your own home and commercial Lots. I personally use Newcrest to place down some restaurants and spas, as well as trying out new Build Mode content that comes with the latest pack.
I have pros and cons for Newcrest. It’s great if you want a clean empty world (lot-wise, that is) and want to make everything from scratch and place whatever you like. However, the fact that it’s empty might put some off living there. One advantage of a world populated with pre-built Lots is that pretty much everything is there for you when you move your Sims in. Also, Newcrest is modelled after Willow Creek, and while I love that world, I wish Newcrest had been more unique and had its own style. Another thing is that apart from the freedom to build and place whatever you like, there’s nothing really special about Newcrest. It hasn’t got any remarkable features like some of the other worlds.
- Newcrest, as seen in the world map view.

- The picturesque neighborhood of Bridgeview.

- A blank row of lots in Ridgeline Drive.

- An overview of Llama Lagoon.

Chestnut Ridge
Came With: The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack
Chestnut Ridge was created for horses, horse riders, ranchers, and nectar makers in mind with the Horse Ranch Expansion. This is quite an impressive world, and the sheer size of it is almost overwhelming. It is the perfect place to own horses. Having a horse in any other world in The Sims 4 could be difficult. As a horse owner, you’ve got everything you need here; vast open spaces for riding around, free training facilities, access to horse community jobs, and horse competitions. The Equestrian Center is the heart of all things horses in Chestnut Ridge, where you can purchase horses and enter competitions. You honestly couldn’t ask for a better world for your horses and your horse-riding Sims, and it is gorgeous to look at, with its scenic prairies and canyons.
The great thing about Chestnut Ridge is that while not every Lot is huge, they feel much bigger thanks to the clever design and layout of the world. For example, my Sims lived on a smallish Lot that had a small house and stables and paddock, but next door was another bigger paddock that had lots of space for my horses to roam around in. A lot of the homes are affordable for starter Sims as well, and there are some good commercial Lots such as a nightclub set in a barn and a huge bar. The neighborhood that hosts the Equestrian Center perfectly resembles an old western house. Generally, the whole theme of the world and the Expansion Pack as a whole fits the horse and rancher gameplay beautifully.
You don’t necessarily have to be a horse rider, rancher or nectar maker to live in and appreciate Chestnut Ridge, but you’ll be very tempted by what it has to offer. Before you know it, you’ll be owning a horse.
- Chestnut Ridge in world map view.

- The Galloping Gulch is vast. You definitely need a horse to get from A to B here!

- New Appaloosa serves as Chestnut Ridge’s town.

- Riders’ Glen is the perfect place to ride around on a horse.

Mt. Komorebi
Came With: The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack
If you’re looking for a world inspired by Japan and with a mountain, then Mt. Komorebi ticks both those boxes. This world’s original style and theme is what makes it so special.
There are lots of things that make Mt. Komorebi stand out. There’s the titular mountain itself, which you can actually climb right to the summit. This is no easy challenge, as your Sims will need good Rock Climbing skill, plenty of bug repellents on hand, and camping in tents to rest. It’s an incredible achievement reaching the top though. There’s also skiing and snowboarding that you can do on the snowy slopes. Mt. Komorebi has its own festivals, each celebrating something different: Light, Snow and Youth. These are good fun and memorable to attend. You also have to check out the baths and go hiking to the shrine and through the bamboo forest.
Mt. Komorebi is a place where your Sims can vacation to or live in, with the world accommodating both options. It’s a place I like to visit now and again, either to send my Sims skiing or snowboarding, send them for a hike, or check out the festivals.
- The world map view of Mt. Komorebi.

- Wakaba, a tranquil suburban area.

- Senbamachi, where the Festival of Light takes place.

- The slopes of Yukimatsu are always covered in snow, even without Seasons installed.

Henford-on-Bagley
Came With: The Sims 4 Cottage Living Expansion Pack
Looking for a peaceful rural place to live? The Sims 4 Cottage Living and its beautiful world, British-inspired Henford-on-Bagley, is just what you need. The neighborhoods surrounding the village of Finchwick are enormous. It’s a great place to explore and run around in (and ride around, if you’re looking for a place to raise horses beyond Chestnut Ridge).
Unique features of Henford-on-Bagley include wild animals such as rabbits, foxes and birds that you can befriend, and in return, they’ll give you special gifts. You can also complete special tasks given out by NPCs such as the Creature Keeper, Village Mayor, Grocer, and Garden Shop Owner in order to unlock rewards. There are fairs that you can take part in as well not found in other worlds. The bar, or pub as they’re called in the UK, offers platters that can’t be found at other bars in The Sims 4.
This world is simply impressive and a must visit for any player. If you want an escape to the country, go to Henford-on-Bagley.
- The Bramblewoods in the summer season.

- I love how The Bramblewoods look in the fall.

- Finchwick, the village in Henford-on-Bagley, is worth dropping in.

- Henford-on-Bagley is a good place to keep livestock or grow crops, very peaceful and quiet.

Evergreen Harbor
Came With: The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack
I love the world that comes bundled with the Eco Lifestyle Expansion. Evergreen Harbor is a special world in many ways. One of my favorite features is that thanks to community projects, you can beautify each of the three neighborhoods to make them look more attractive and give them a good tidy up. I also like the apartments that come with Evergreen Harbor, and when I have Sims living in this world, I usually have them move into one of them.
- A map of Evergreen Harbor.

- Port Promise isn’t very attractive-looking, unless you do something about it.

- Grims Quarry, the greener area of Evergreen Harbor.

- Conifer Station is another neighborhood that can change in appearance thanks to the player’s actions.

Brindleton Bay
Came With: The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack
New England is a beautiful part of North America, and thanks to The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack, you get to play in a world heavily inspired by it. This coastal US world features docks, marshland, and a lighthouse that you can actually go up. Plus, Brindleton Bay has trees in autumn colors, even if you don’t have the Seasons Expansion installed, to make the world even more stunning than it already is.
Brindleton Bay comes with affordable housing and some empty plots of land. It’s the best world to keep pets as well, specifically cats and dogs, as there’s a park for them to play in, and you have the vet surgery Lot.
- The marshy Cavalier Cove.

- Whiskerman’s Wharf, probably my favorite Brindleton Bay neighborhood.

- Sable Square, where the pre-built vet clinic is.

- Deadgrass Isle has a lighthouse which you can actually go up.

Tartosa
Came With: The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack
It might seem odd, having a world that comes packaged with a wedding-themed pack, but honestly, Tartosa is one of the most visually stunning worlds in The Sims 4. It’s the perfect setting to get married, and it’s a great place to live as well, with a decent selection of affordable starter homes to choose from. Tartosa may not have a lot of practical commercial Lots such as a library or gym, but it makes up for that in many ways.
Apart from being a beautiful place, Tartosa has a stand where you can buy and sample wedding cakes, and a stall that sells flowers. Tartosa also has not one, but three beaches. One of them is in the second neighborhood, situated by a lagoon with an incredible waterfall that you can actually walk across. Also, if you look closely on the horizon, you’ll see hot air balloons rising up and down in the distance. Tartosa really is a must-visit place, and the world alone will easily sell My Wedding Stories to you.
- Tartosa, probably one of the prettiest worlds in The Sims 4.

- Porto Luminoso and its beaches.

- In Tartosa, you feel like you’re permanently on vacation whether or not you live there.

- Tartosa is ideal not just for hosting weddings, but moving in starter Sims as well.

Sulani
Came With: The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Pack
As a world that came with a tropical island themed Expansion, Sulani is brilliant in many ways. In The Sims 3 Island Paradise Expansion, I really liked Isla Paradiso, but it was plagued with routing problems that would freeze the game frequently after a certain point. Sulani is similar to Isla Paradiso, but flawless.
It’s the perfect home if you’re looking for a tropical setting. There are beaches galore, a beachside bar, tropical homes on land and by the sea, lots of water to swim around in, and there’s even an active volcano that spews lava! You’ll have a lot of fun at Sulani; your Sims riding around the waters on a jet ski or catamaran, snorkelling and scuba diving, relaxing on the beach, and exploring the cave.
One thing I love about Sulani is the ability to do conservation work around the island, cleaning it up of any rubbish and pollution. Over time, you’ll see the results as the island looks more beautiful, and you get to witness special events such as baby turtles being released into the water. It’s so precious. The new Lifeguard career is good fun too (in fact, it was probably my favorite all-time career from The Sims 3), as is the odd jobs, some of which requires you to travel to Sulani to do work such as diving for treasure or combing the beach.
- A full view of Sulani via the world map.

- Lani St. Taz, full of beaches, ocean, and homes.

- The town of Ohan’ali.

- Mua Pel’am, home to an active volcano and a cave!

Oasis Springs
Came With: The Sims 4
Oasis Springs is one of two of the original worlds that came with The Sims 4. Many more worlds have been introduced to the game since thanks to DLC, but I think Oasis Springs still holds up as one of the better worlds.
This world has a good mixture of starter homes as well as more elaborate and expensive homes for your Sims to live in. It’s pretty big as well, and it feels like there’s a lot to explore in Oasis Springs. I think my only real criticism with Oasis Springs is that some of the commercial lots could be better, namely the art gallery. However, I remedy this by replacing it with one of the pre-made bowling alleys that comes with The Sims 4 Bowling Night Stuff.
- One of the wealthier districts of Oasis Springs, Skyward Palms.

- Parched Prospect, an attractive neighborhood with affordable homes.

- Mirage Canyon, a gorgeous setting for a day at the bar or museum.

- Bedrock Strait is probably where your starter Sims will move into at first.

- Acquisition Butte, featuring bigger, plusher homes.

- The Desert Bloom Park is an attractive and popular place to visit.

Copperdale
Came With: The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Pack
Copperdale is home to the unique high school commercial Lot, a one-of-a-kind Lot not available anywhere else in The Sims 4. This is where, if you have the High School Years Expansion installed, your teenagers go to high school five days a week. When I first played this Expansion, I was very impressed with how accurately the high school is depicted, in terms of appearance and functionality. It has two classrooms, long hallways with lockers, lots of restrooms, a huge cafeteria, the principal’s office, and in the basement, there’s a computer suite, room to play chess, and even its own gym! Upstairs, you can find a place to practice some painting and music. Plus, outside, there’s a huge and realistic-looking playing field, complete with football posts and spectator stands (and a cheerleading mat).
Nearby is the separate school gymnasium Lot, which hosts school events such as Career Day, the graduation ceremony, and of course, the prom!
There’s much more to Copperdale than just the school. Any Sims can live there, whether they’re still at school or not. A really cool place to visit is the amusement park at the pier, which even has rides you can go on, including the ghost train, love tunnel, and big wheel. You can buy ice cream here as well, or play some chess. I find the pier a great place for a date, whatever age my Sims are. Another place to check out is the bubble tea and thrift store in town.
I personally think that High School Years is one of the best Expansions that’s come out of The Sims 4, and we have the world of Copperdale to thank for that.
- Copperdale’s world map.

- The high school is probably the highlight of Copperdale.

- Prescott Square hosts the thrift and bubble tea store, plus more.

- Plumbite Cove, aka the amusement pier where teens go for the prom’s after-party.

San Myshuno
Came With: The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack
San Myshuno is one of my favorite worlds in The Sims 4, which is why I’ve ranked it number four in this list. It’s not entirely perfect; I wish there were more non-apartment Lots, for example, but otherwise it’s a great world to visit and live in.
This world has a LOT of apartments for your Sims to live in, whether they’re cheap or expensive, rundown or upmarket. There’s certainly a lot of choice. There are a few downsides to apartments, such as the lack of a backyard, and you can experience noisy neighbors, but that applies to real life as well. You’ve got incredible views to make up for it.
For me, it’s not really the apartments that sells San Myshuno, but what you can do there. I adore the various festivals that takes place. The Humors and Hijinks Festival is good fun, and I love GeekCon. The Spice Festival is good to take part in as well, as is the Romance Festival. Plus, you can grab some original objects not normally available in Build Mode at the Flea Market.
The other thing I like about San Myshuno is the community Lots. There’s a bar set at the top of one tower building, complete with an outdoor pool. There’s also a gym with a Bracing Breezes Lot Trait, which will give your Sims a boost with working out and getting fit. My favorite lots though are the enormous park and the arts center. The park has plenty to do and is a beautiful place to visit in an urban setting (in fact, all of San Myshuno is an attractive place). The arts center is also a favorite of mine to visit, with lots of creative stuff to do such as painting on easels, spray painting, woodwork, musical instruments, and there’s even a bar downstairs if you fancy a drink or a bite to eat. This place caters to kids as well, with the drawing table and kids’ violin.
Even if my Sims don’t live in San Myshuno, it’s certainly a place that is frequently visited.
- San Myshuno stands out among other worlds for its urban setting.

- Uptown is home to the best gym of all The Sims 4 worlds.

- The Spice Market is worth checking out.

- Even with this gloomy weather, the giant park is a beautiful place.

- The Fashion District hosts the GeekCon festival, my favorite!

- The Arts Quarter is home to my favorite San Myshuno Lot, the art center.

San Sequoia
Came With: The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack
San Sequoia is one of the newer worlds to join the roster of worlds in The Sims 4, and it’s probably one of the best. It’s an excellent place to raise a family and to really embrace the new gameplay that came with The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack.
First up, as with many worlds in The Sims 4, it’s attractive to look at and explore. Especially the neighborhood that contains the glasshouse and water park. The neighborhood with the giant pond deserves a mention as well. The third neighborhood has Lots with seafront views, and there’s even a movie theater you can visit and watch movies in. One of my favorite Lots in San Sequoia is the recreation center. It’s a brilliant place for Sims to visit, whether alone or with family and friends. There’s a lot to do there.
The other thing that puts San Sequoia high on this list is the selection of residential Lots available, particular for starter Sims. There are bigger houses as well that aren’t ridiculously expensive that you’ll want to live in.
- The Rec Center, a must visit when you’re in San Sequoia.

- The harbor in one of the neighborhoods.

- San Sequoia’s Downtown has a movie theater where you can actually go and watch movies.

- Two of San Sequoia’s neighborhoods features big parks with a large pond.

Windenburg
Came With: The Sims 4 Get Together Expansion Pack
Windenburg is one of my all-time favorite worlds in The Sims 4. The Get Together Expansion came out years ago, only being the second Expansion Pack released for The Sims 4, but none of the many newer worlds after has beaten it.
There are many reasons why I love Windenburg. The place has a real charm about it, with its old architecture and mixture of old-time feel with some modern-day influence.
I love every neighborhood in Windenburg. The old seafront has a café where you can grab a hot drink and a pastry, a modern gymnasium, a pool, and a nightclub. There’s also the old town, with the giant chess set, another café, another nightclub, and an old library. The third area is set more in the countryside, with sheep roaming the distant fields, a river with an old still-functioning water wheel, and a classic rural bar. In addition, there’s a fourth neighborhood, set on an island just off the mainland, complete with huge luxurious homes, plus the Island Bluffs, where you can go for a dip in an ancient pool.
What makes Windenburg unique from other worlds in The Sims 4 there are special Lots you can visit, just like the Bluffs. These include the enormous Von Haunt Estate, which is a big old house with huge gardens, including a maze you can actually run around. I like to send my Sims to this Lot for romantic dates, or days out as a family to get away from the stresses of work and school. Other Lots include the ancient ruins, which is exactly what it says it is. There’s not that much to do here compared to the Von Haunt Estate, but it’s still interesting to go to.
Another thing I love about Windenburg is the amount of properties available. One irksome issue with many worlds in The Sims 4 is the lack of residential Lots, whether they’re cheap starter homes, more luxurious properties, or just empty plots of land waiting to be built on. Windenburg does not have that issue. With this world, you will be spoiled for choice on where to move your Sims into.
- A full look at Windenburg via the world map.

- The Lykke Centre is Windenburg’s modern part of town.

- Windslar is very picturesque.

- The Von Haunt Estate is a stunning part of Windenburg.

- The Crumbling Isle is a quiet area with lavish homes.

- You can go swimming in a special pool at The Bluffs.

- The Old Platz has a lovely old-time look and feel to it.

- The Ancient Ruins is normally a quiet place, except when there are parties.

Willow Creek
Came With: The Sims 4
The number one spot for the best world to live in The Sims 4 goes to one of the originals: Willow Creek! With The Sims 4 having been out since 2014, you would have thought by now another world might have overtaken as the best. While some of the worlds come very close, I say that this classic still stands strong above the rest.
There are lots of reasons why I put Willow Creek first on this list. It’s big, but not overwhelmingly so that you get lost exploring, or it takes forever to get from A to B, which to me is a problem with some of the other bigger worlds. Willow Creek has six neighborhoods, if you count the large Magnolia Blossom Park. Four of these areas are residential, and there are plenty of homes to choose from, plus empty Lots to build on. While Willow Creek has a New Orleans style to it, there are some more modern-looking properties as well. Willow Creek is also good in that it has a mixture of homes with varying numbers of bedrooms and bathrooms, and a mix of starter homes and more expensive houses, so it caters to any household looking to move in. There’s also an area dedicated to commercial Lots, including a nightclub, library, gym, and museum.
Each of the six areas have their own features and attractions. One has a steamboat that chunters along the river near the houses. The commercial neighborhood is a bustling hub, with good places to visit and meet other Sims. I love the big park, where you can play chess or play on the play equipment. Every neighborhood in Willow Creek has something; spots to go fishing, frogs to find, rocks to dig, plants to harvest, a place to just sit and rest, or a grill to rustle up some hearty food. Willow Creek is a relatively quiet world, but still bustling with activity and Sims. It’s a good place to settle down and live in, whether alone or with friends and family.
- Willow Creek, a world divided up into 6 areas.
