The Sims 4 Windenburg World Guide

Some worlds in The Sims 4 are so big and have so much to see and do that it’s easy to feel lost or overwhelmed. Windenburg is possibly one of the best worlds in The Sims 4, shipping with The Sims 4 Get Together Expansion Pack, making the pack worth getting just for the world itself. However, with it being such a big place with many places to visit and also being home to several households, not to mention Clubs, we’ve created this guide to give you a complete tour of Windenburg to ensure that you can enjoy this world to its full potential.

An Overview of Windenburg

Windenburg is a huge world that comes packaged with The Sims 4 Get Together Expansion Pack. When you visit this charming and attractive place, you can expect to find old-meets-new architecture, a mixture of quiet and secluded rural countryside and bustling town life, miles of pine forests, snowy mountains in the distance, crumbling ruins, Tudor-style buildings, and an enormous lake where you might spot a mysterious creature.

Not only does Windenburg have a majestic European style to it, but it is also designed with the Expansion’s Club system in mind. Every commercial business in Windenburg seems to cater to a different Club, some even having private access areas exclusive to club members.

Another feature unique to Windenburg are special lots. There are 3 of these in total, which we’ll explore in more detail further into this guide. One important thing to note about these special lots is that they cannot have their Lot Type changed. This option is greyed out and inaccessible when accessed in Build Mode. You can, however, edit the lots by redecorating and rebuilding them. You just cannot repurpose them, so you cannot make the Von Haunt Estate a Residential Lot, for example.

Climate of Windenburg (Seasons Expansion)

If you have The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack installed, you can expect Windenburg to be a lot like Willow Creek. You will get to experience the four seasons in all their glory; spring and fall are milder, summer can be hot and blistering, and winter is bitterly cold and sees snow. You’ll also get extreme weather like heatwaves and freezing temperatures, as well as thunderstorms and blizzards.

Lots in Windenburg

Windenburg is made up of 4 neighborhoods, plus 3 special lots. We’ll explore all 7 of these areas, starting with the different Lots and anything of special interest. We’ll also mention which Lots are associated with club meet-ups.

The Crumbling Isle

Description: “The Crumbling Isle is a bit of a misnomer for this part of town. There’s nothing here but glorious high-end real estate as far as the eye can see.”

The Crumbling Isle is an island separate from the main land of Windenburg. It is secluded, as you might imagine, but it’s a good place to live if you prefer to have some solitude. That is if your Sims can afford these luxurious homes. However, only one of these is vacant, the other being an empty lot waiting to be built on.

Dock Den

Dock Den is a small-yet-stylish home resided by two Sims; Sergio Romeo and Joaquin Le Chien. You can boot them out if you wish for someone else to live here, but be warned that this place doesn’t come cheap.

This house comes with a large living room, kitchen, two large bedrooms, a bathroom, and a walled-in backyard. There’s not a massive amount of outdoor space left over, but you can expand the backyard if you wish, even making room for a small pool. Also, don’t be afraid to go expanding upstairs or down into the basement if you did need more space.

The Lighthouse

Despite the name, this place isn’t actually a lighthouse. It’s a very attractive and luxurious home though. This place is so big it’s almost overwhelming. Space is not an issue here!

• Ground Floor: Large open-plan living area with kitchen and dining facilities, a large bathroom, a double bedroom, and a smaller single bedroom.
• Backyard: Outside on the ground floor, you can find a swimming pool, grill, and play spaceship.
• First Floor: There’s a huge bedroom upstairs, as well as your own private gym! There’s another bathroom up here too, and a study. There’s also a large balcony if you want to take in the views.

Mid-Nowhere

Mid-Nowhere is a completely empty lot at The Crumbling Isle that’s crying out to be built on. It’s not the largest plot of land by any means, only 20 x 20 squares wide, but it’s still big enough to put something down. Another home maybe, or even a community lot?

Pier Palace

This is another luxurious home available at The Crumbling Isle. This one though is vacant, waiting for you to move someone in. It’s way out of reach for a starter family, but those with funds won’t baulk at this well-designed and comfortable home.

• Ground Floor: The entrance hall leads into the dining and kitchen area, with the living room a separate space. There’s also a bathroom just off the kitchen. Down the hallway are two bedrooms the same size.
• Backyard: Apart from being nicely-landscaped, there’s not a great deal outside, except for a barbeque area around the back. There’s probably not enough room to put a swimming pool, but a hot tub would go great back here.
• First Floor: Upstairs is a big bedroom space with its own bathroom, plus a huge balcony.

Von-Windenburg Estate

This is probably the grandest home on The Crumbling Isle. The Villareal’s are really living it up! This place is simply enormous. It also comes with a price tag to match, if you do decide to move a family in. Can you spare approximately 266,000 Simoleons?

• Basement: This small space underground is ideal for having an extra room, especially a place for Sims to hang out and relax.
• Ground Floor: There’s a huge foyer leading into the living area, which also has a bathroom. There’s also a huge kitchen and dining area with another bathroom. Three bedrooms are situated downstairs as well.
• Backyard: There is plenty of space outdoors, including a huge swimming pool.
• First Floor: Two more bedrooms can be found upstairs, plus another bathroom.

The Bluffs

The Bluffs is a tranquil spot. The Crumbling Isle in itself is secluded and peaceful, but this area is even more so. It’s a good place to come if you want to go somewhere quiet and isolated, away from the hustle-and-bustle. There’s not a great deal here, except for a pool you can swim in (with a diving board), some collectibles, and a bonfire.

Lykke Centre

Description: “Fresh, new, and arrestingly shiny. Lykke Centre is where new commercial enterprise in Windenburg thrives.”

The Lykke Centre is easily the most modern neighborhood of Windenburg. The Lykke Centre is modern, clean, and beautifully landscaped, complete with planted trees and flower beds, as well as attractive fountains. The Lykke Centre is home to several appealing community lots, including a public pool, gym, nightclub, and café.

Bathe de Rill

If you fancy a swim, Bathe de Rill is the place to go. Their pool is huge and a cool hangout for Sims. There’s plenty of seating areas if you want to stop and have a chat and catch up with some Sims as well. This community lot is also home to two clubs: the Paragons and Renegades. The Paragons even have a private room upstairs.

Discotheque Pan Europa

This nightclub is the place to go to if you’re looking for a fun night out of dancing, drinking, and hanging out with other Sims. The dance floor allows your Sims to have a dance battle.

Harbor Quarter Gym

Although this neighborhood includes a public swimming pool, Harbor Quarter Gym is perfect for a workout section. Not only do they have all the usual gym equipment, but in the basement, there’s a swimming pool! It’s not as big as the Bathe de Rill’s though, so if you’re just interested in swimming, you should think about going there instead.

Hare and Hedgehog

The Hare and Hedgehog is a cozy café where Sims can meet up over a coffee and some delicious pastries. It can sometimes get a bit chaotic at the espresso bar, so pick your moment when you put your order in so the server doesn’t forget!

Hare Square

This small park is the perfect place for younger Sims or families to go to. There are monkey bars and a play spaceship, but also chess tables. There’s also a restroom stall if your Sim needs it.

Olde Platz

Description: “What Olde Platz lacks in greenery it makes up for in charming cobblestone. Live, work and play in the rich, cultural history of the oldest part of Windenburg.”

The Olde Platz really is full of old buildings and architecture, but it’s an attractive neighborhood that is great to hang out in. There are a few homes here, occupied and vacant, as well as a few community lots. Make sure you take a look at the cleverly-designed giant chess board with the topiaries that look like chess pieces!

Factory One

Factory One is home to 4 roommates who are not related to each other. This converted home is urban, stylish, but also cozy.

• Ground Floor: There’s a huge living area with a kitchen and dining area. Objects of interest include a treadmill, workout machine, mini bar, foosball table, and DJ. Downstairs, there’s also a back porch with a grill, a bathroom, and two decent-sized bedrooms.
• First Floor: Upstairs are two more bedrooms, but on the landing is a giant arcade machine for multiple Sims to play together.

Havisham House

Havisham House is an ideal starter home, either for a single Sim or a couple. It is possible, however, to squeeze in an extra bedroom if you don’t mind building some walls upstairs. There’s a lot of space to play around with for expansion, so don’t be afraid to take advantage and add some extra rooms if it feels a bit squashed. Otherwise, the large outdoor space is ideal for doing some remodelling, including adding a swimming pool.

Old Quarter Inn

For a drink, a catch up, and a cozy night in, the Old Quarter Inn is an ideal hangout spot. It’s a good place to mingle and enquire about joining new clubs with visiting members.

The Narwhal Arms

The Narwhal Arms sounds like another bar. It isn’t. Instead, it’s a nightclub. The Lykke Centre has one, but this has a more rustic charm to it.

Proprietor’s Square

Proprietor’s Square is another home appealing to starter Sims. This one is similar to its neighboring property, Havisham House, but the upstairs space is a little smaller. There’s lots of room though for expansion, if you feel like being creative.

Quad Manor

Quad Manor sounds like another Residential Lot. It’s actually Windenburg’s library. It’s a great study space, with lots of bookcases, as well as digital pads. There’s also a chess table downstairs. There’s only one computer upstairs, but if you want, you can jump into Build Mode and add in some more, since Sims do love using computers.

South Square Coffee

This café is interesting, as it looks bigger than it is. Only the ground floor is in use. It’s a charming enough café, but if you have The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion, this place might work as a Small Business Residential Lot, converting the upper floors into a living space for your Sim, turning the café into a business.

Waterlock Redoubt

This small house is a cozy place to live, although a little beyond budget for a starter household. Inside it is very bright and vibrant, mainly because of the Sims who live there, but feel free to redecorate it to match the rustic exterior.

Ancient Ruins

The Ancient Ruins is a private lot off Olde Platz. Like The Bluffs, it’s very quiet and secluded. There’s not a terrible lot going on here – well, not during the day anyway. Check your Sim’s phones in the evening and they might just get a tip-off about a wild party happening at the old ruins. It’s worth checking out if your Sim is up for a rave!

Windslar

Description: “Wide open spaces and a chateau or two. Visit or live in Windslar for a delectable taste of countryside living.”

Windenburg is a very attractive world, but Windslar is especially pretty. It’s set in the rural countryside, which means peace and tranquility. There are fishing spots here, a cozy bar, and the entrance to the regal and majestic Von Haunt Estate.

Cooringberg Cottage

Coorinberg Cottage is an interesting home. It’s actually made up of two buildings, with a smaller extra one at the back. It might not look that big at first sight, but this home is pretty grand. Although this lot already has 3 bedrooms, you could convert the back building into a bedroom, or even an extra house!

Cottage Am See

This home is small but very cozy. It’s also a little pricey for starter Sims, but not by much, so they can buy it if they save up a little. Note that the living room is quite small, so you’ll need to be creative in how you utilize the space.

Dresden House

Dresden House, the fancy manor home of Windslar. This huge lot consists of an enormous mansion and tons of outdoor space. Although it is way beyond budget for a starter household, it is surprisingly not as ridiculously expensive as you might think, so comfortably well-off Sims should be easily able to afford this place.

• Ground Floor: A long hallway, leading off to the kitchen and dining room, a bedroom, big bathroom, and living room at the back.
• Backyard: That’s not a pool you can see, but actually a pond with a fountain. There is, however, a lot of space if you wanted to build a pool.
• First Floor: Two more bedrooms are upstairs, plus a bathroom and private gym. The gym could be made into an extra bedroom though. There’s a lot of space up here! You could also add in an extra bathroom with the space available.

Rustic Residence

If you want to live in Windslar, good news: this is a great starter home! Better still, it’s probably the best one, with two bedrooms instead of just one. There’s also plenty of outdoor space, even for a pool! The fact that it’s near the pond, where you can go fishing, gives it extra points, and it’s just down the road from The Shrieking Llama bar.

The Shrieking Llama

The Shrieking Llama is a great meet-up place for Sims, very homely and lively. Only the basement and ground floor are available to Sims – and the basement is private to The Good Timers club. The upstairs portion is just for aesthetics.

The Summer House

The Summer House is an odd name, given there is no house of any sort here at all, being an empty lot. You can build a house though, or something else. It’s bigger than the other blank lots in Windenburg, making it more ideal for setting down a community lot like a spa, bowling alley, or restaurant.

Von Haunt Estate

The Von Haunt Estate is huge! Not only size-wise, but also in how much is packed into this area. The Von Haunt Estate is actually made up of two parts; the mansion itself, and the surrounding grounds. This place is well worth a visit if you come to Windenburg. Late-night parties are also occasionally hosted just outside the Estate.

• The Von Haunt Estate, aka the mansion, is actually a living museum your Sims can wander around and explore. Be aware though that a lot of the rooms are roped off and inaccessible, but it’s still interesting to explore. Also, the bathroom is located here if you need it, and it’s the only one in this particular area.
• Maze: Make sure to check out the maze in the grounds. Your Sim can have a go at exploring it by selecting the two snail statues at both entrances and selecting Wander Maze. You can then watch as your Sim makes their way through. If your Sim becomes hopelessly lost or tired, they can rest on the benches scattered throughout the maze.
• Wedding Arch and Piano: At the top end of the formal gardens, where you can look out to the flowing waterfall, you’ll find a wedding arch and piano. Technically, you could throw weddings here. However, you won’t have access to wedding objects or activities such as a place for the wedding cake, or a dance floor. There’s also no seating for guests. This set-up might work better for private weddings for Sims who want to marry in a romantic setting but more quickly and less ceremoniously.
• Community Garden: If you look to where the pools are by the maze, you’ll find the gardens, where harvestables are growing. Feel free to pick these and take them home with you. There are plenty of plants to find!
• Chess Pavilion: If you fancy a game of chess, make your way to the pavilion near the formal gardens, where you’ll find some chess tables. There’s a grill here too, if you get hungry.
• Information Plaques: When you explore the Estate and the Gardens, you may come across plaques. Your Sim can read these so you can learn more about the estate and its history. 
• Ghosts: If you keep your eyes open, you might find the late-departed former residents of the estate wandering the grounds. Keep this in mind if your Sim is afraid of seeing a ghost – or if not, don’t be shy in saying hello!

Collectibles in Windenburg

There are plenty of neighborhoods in Windenburg that have collectibles to find. Harvestables seem to be the key find, but Windenburg is also a hotspot for fishing. Candy, modelled after the famous character from MySims, is naturally an aspiring DJ. This Sim is all about the party!

The main focus of the Bjergsen household is the oldest daughter Sofia, with big dreams to become a successful professional musician. You can make that happen – or not. You also have to manage the gloomy dad, perfectionist mom, and mischievous genius little sister, which will make her dream-seeking an interesting one.

Bjorn Bjergsen

Bjorn isn’t a bad Sim by any means, but his slobby and gloomy ways might be off-putting. Still, focus on the positives of his good-naturedness and you’ll be fine. He’s already got a good head start in several skills, so focusing on his career might perk him up a bit.
