Sulani is a beautiful tropical paradise that comes with The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Pack. In this world, your Sims can escape their cares and throw themselves into the lifestyle and culture that this unique place has to offer. They can relax on the beach, swim in the gorgeous seas, go snorkeling and diving, go fishing, race around on a jetski, sail along on a catamaran, and just enjoy the lush scenery. It’s hard not to fall in love with Sulani. If you want to make the most out of this world, you’ll want to know what’s there, where you can visit, and the locals. This guide will give you a tour of Sulani so you don’t miss anything.

An Overview of Sulani
Sulani is a unique world compared to the other worlds in The Sims 4. Not only does it have a purely tropical style, but there are activities and events there that aren’t available in other worlds. Sulani isn’t just a tropical getaway destination, but it can be a permanent home too. One thing about Sulani is that it’s one of those places that takes you back to nature, embracing the local culture.
Sulani is made up of a series of islands clustered together to make one world, altogether broken up into 3 distinctive neighborhoods. It has several homes you can live in, but no vacation homes, as Island Living was released before these became a thing in The Sims 4. You can, however, change that simply by changing the Lot Type from Residential to Vacation Rental. It also has limited community lots, mainly consisting of a bar and beaches, but these add to the flavor and community drive that Sulani thrives on. If you want additional community services such as spas, restaurants, bowling alleys, libraries, etc., you’ll need to add these in yourself. However, there is a big call for these kinds of lots, and these lots would work perfectly in a world such as Sulani, so feel free to add these in!
Climate of Sulani (Seasons Expansion)
If you’ve come to Sulani looking for snow, the chances of finding it are zero to none. Snow simply does not exist in Sulani, neither does really cold weather, so your Sims won’t be changing into their Cold Weather attire. If it’s sun and warmth that you want, you are in the right place! You’ll get this all year round.
However, Sulani is not an arid world. It doesn’t rain all the time, but those lush jungles need some rain. It will rain now and again, so make sure you have an umbrella on your Sim so they don’t get caught out and wet. You will also occasionally get thunderstorms, especially in the cooler seasons, so watch out for these. Remember that you can disable weather such as Rain and Thunderstorms in the game’s settings if they start to annoy you too much.
Lots in Sulani
Sulani features a generous offering of lots to visit or even live in. There are more residential lots than community, and about half of these are affordable to starter Sims as well, which is a big plus. Some of these may be on the smaller side, especially for households consisting of families, but these lots are flexible for expansion if you need to add extra rooms or floors.
There are only a few community lots already available, but don’t be afraid to add more, either by building your own or via the Gallery. Sulani would be the perfect setting for a beachside restaurant, or a tranquil spa overlooking the beautiful blue sea.
Altogether, Sulani has the following Lots available:
- 4 occupied Residential Lots
- 5 unoccupied Residential Lots
- 2 empty lots
- 3 community lots
This makes up a total of 14 Lots, which on paper doesn’t sound like much, but it’s surprisingly plentiful. We’ll now take you through every Lot you can find in Sulani and break them down in detail.
Lani St. Taz
Description: “An idyllic tropical paradise where the beaches are filled with white sand, and the waters are warm and vibrant. The lush jungle environment here is a perfect place for getting lost in the timeless island spirit.”
Of the two more “bustling” neighborhoods, Lani St. Taz is the quieter one in Sulani. It also feels much more open and less claustrophobic, if you prefer to go somewhere touristy yet still fairly quiet. Lani St. Taz has its own Beach Lot, as well as a few Residential Lots, although some of these are already occupied. This is a good place to visit as well as live in, as there are some easels waiting to be painted on, as well as a set of swings to play on. Although generally quieter, there’s still a lot to see and do in Lani St. Taz.
Journey’s End
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | Yes (Kahananui Household) |
| Cost | §72,240 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | 3 |
| Bathrooms | 2 |
This is the biggest home situated in Lani St. Taz, and it is beautiful. It’s nicely landscaped with a pool out back, plenty of deck space and grass, an open living area, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom, then upstairs there are 3 bedrooms (a double then two smaller ones) and another bathroom.
This is a good home for a family to live in. The Kahananui’s already reside there, but you can move them out if you want another household to move in. It is the most expensive home in Sulani, and too expensive for starter Sims. However, at just over 72,000 Simoleons, homes have been much more expensive in The Sims 4, so it’s not completely out of reach if your Sims grind enough money and save up – or you can just use money cheats.

Pier Perfection
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §19,037 |
| Size | 30 x 20 |
| Bedrooms | 1 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
Pier Perfection is certainly perfection for a single Sim or couple living in Sulani, especially in a quieter-yet-still-thriving neighborhood. It’s probably the smallest available Residential Lot, and expansion is only really possible if you go upwards, but it’s still an ideal place to live, especially if you’re just starting out and want something small and simple.

Reef Finery
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | Yes (Ngata Household) |
| Cost | §52,763 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | 2 |
| Bathrooms | 2 |
The Ngata’s live in a beautiful home by the sea. It’s the perfect tropical home, with an open living area, kitchen, downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and upstairs is another bedroom and bathroom. There’s also plenty of platform space to walk along. It’s a good-sized home that isn’t too big or overwhelming. Your Sims will be guaranteed to be comfortable living here.

Sand Simoleon Beach
| Lot Type | Beach |
| Cost | §17,628 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Lot Trait | Oceanic Paradise |
This beach is probably the nicer of the two Beach Lots in Sulani, and it’s quieter. There are plush lounge chairs to relax on, a bonfire on the beach, and even a small hut where Sims can retreat into the shade and grill up some food. If you want a quieter beach trip, this is the one to head to.
Sapphire Shores
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §9,605 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | None |
| Bathrooms | None |
| Lot Trait | Oceanic Paradise |
This Lot is empty, ready to be built on. You could build a community lot here, but keep in mind that it’s more water than land, meaning than some Gallery pre-built lots may not work. It might be better to build your own, or do some further digging in the Gallery and find some community-built lots.
Mua Pel’am
Description: “Nature rules this island, from the active volcano to the flowing waterfall and down into the depths of the secluded cave. This remote destination in the Sulani island chain is the place for exploring the beauty of nature.”
Although this is the quietest neighborhood of Sulani, it also somewhat feels like the biggest. Perhaps it’s because of the smaller number of Lots available, or because this place is less visited and away from the hustle-and-bustle of both tourists and locals. It also contains some unique features not found in the other two neighborhoods. There’s a cave to explore, a waterfall you can interact with, an active volcano, and places to go diving in the sea.
There is, however, something very special about Mua Pel’am. It is where you can make a real difference to the environment, by cleaning it up and taking care of it. Over time, and with hard work and persistence, you can actually see the environment of Mua Pel’am evolve and improve. If your Sim is in the Conservationist Career, they can make a further impact with the additional interactions available. We have a guide that covers the Conservationist Career, if you’d like to learn more about that specifically.
Apart from these noted features, Mua Pel’am only has three lots, two being uniquely-designed Residential Lots and the other an empty lot waiting to be built on.
Admiral’s Wreckage
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §44,641 |
| Size | 50 x 50 |
| Bedrooms | 1 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
| Lot Challenge | Off-the-Grid |
This Lot is really special, and pretty cool. It’s actually a wrecked ship that’s been converted into a home. The actual home itself is located underground, and quite roomy. It’s got everything you could need in a basic home; living space, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and bedroom. The long-shaped rooms pose an interesting challenge for interior designers. It’s naturally rustic and designed to look like the inside of a ship, but you should have plenty of fun with this Lot. There’s a lot of creativity at play here!
One more thing to note is the Off-the-Grid Lot Challenge, meaning plumbing and electronic items will not work. This makes sense in context, but if you’d rather not get bogged down in this, you can restore plumbing and electricity by simply removing the Lot Challenge.

Caldera Camp
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §18,408 |
| Size | 30 x 20 |
| Bedrooms | 1 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
| Lot Challenge | Volcanic Activity |
This Lot is actually a lot of fun and one of the most unique to Sulani. That’s because it’s situated right next to the volcano! The volcano’s not just there for aesthetics as well. Occasionally, thanks to the Volcanic Activity Lot Challenge, you’ll have rains of volcanic rock fall onto the Lot. If your Sims are unfortunate, the rocks can cause your lot to catch fire, or even the Sims themselves! Earthquakes triggered by these random eruptions can also damage objects, so be aware! If there is an upside, the falling rocks can provide hidden treasures if you leave them to cool long enough and break them open.
As for the Lot itself, it’s moderately sized, with a small kitchen, dining area, and bedroom. The bathroom is in a separate block at the back of the house. If it’s a bit too basic for your liking or you need extra space, feel free to do some DIY work to the place. Also, if you don’t want to face the wrath of the nearby volcano, you can actually remove the Volcanic Activity Lot Challenge. It’s not locked in.

Key Point
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §7,000 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | None |
| Bathrooms | None |
| Lot Traits | Oceanic Paradise |
| Lot Challenge | Off-the-Grid |
This Lot is completely empty and free to build on. It’s situated on its own island separate from the rest of Mua Pel’am. There’s plenty of room to build, and you can even build on the water if you want to create a pier or platform. You could build a community lot here, although it might feel too quiet and cut-off in this neighborhood. Saying that, the peace and quiet might make it an ideal setting for a spa, or another quiet-based community lot like a library or museum.
Cave
Apart from the few Lots and the environmental evolution caused by conservation efforts, there are two more key things to talk about in Mua Pel’am. One of these is the cave, which is located close to Admiral’s Wreckage. Any Sim can Explore this cave as many times as they like and have off-screen adventures. They may leave with nothing, a positive or negative moodlet, or even some treasure. It’s worth checking out.
Waterfall
Another interesting feature of Mua Pel’am is the waterfall. It’s situated around the corner from the cave. A few waterfalls can be seen around Sulani, but this one is different as it has a few interactions available. Your Sim can:
- Have a shower (your Sim can even shower nude!)
- Attract Frogs (for frog collectors)
- Play In (to boost Fun)
There may also be some extra options if your Sim is in the Conservationist Career.
Ohan’ali Town
Description: “Once a tiny fishing camp that was nestled between tropic jungles and calm lagoon waters, Ohan’ali Town has become one of the most bustling areas of Sulani. Developing into the main town of the region has not changed the deeply routed sense of community and their strong connection to the island traditions.”
Ohan’ali Town’s description of being the most bustling of Sulani is pretty accurate. It is generally the busier of the 3 neighborhoods, with more activity, but it does feel more closely-packed together. This does make traveling across the neighborhood easier and quicker, but might be less desirable to those who don’t like busy places or places that feel a bit more claustrophobic. Nevertheless, Ohan’ali Town is an ideal place to visit.
Here, there are a few Residential Lots available, some occupied, some free to move into – and these are affordable starter homes too! Unless you prefer somewhere quieter, being able to live in effectively the hub of Sulani makes it an ideal place to settle and center your Sims. Sims can fully embrace Sulani life here, with a Beach Lot to visit as well as a bar, a place to buy supplies, food stalls, a spot for snorkeling, and a good spot for fishing.
One final thing to mention is the market square at the top of Ohan’ali Town. Normally, this is a big empty space with not much going on except a fire pit and restrooms. However, some days, you’ll find the place set up for an event. These events don’t appear as pop-up notifications, neither can you read up on them. If one is going on, it’s worth checking out to grab some food and chat up with some Sims who have gathered here.
Chieftain’s Villa
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | Yes (Hoapili Household) |
| Cost | §65,487 |
| Size | 40 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | 2 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
| Lot Trait | Island Spirits |
This beautifully-designed and traditional-style house is home to the Hoapili household. Naturally, it includes the Island Spirits Lot Trait, meaning any Sims living here will have to share their home with long-departed island spirits. If you want to completely banish these visitors, just get rid of the Lot Trait.
Ignoring the phantom residents, you can find here a luxurious home consisting of one main building plus two extra smaller huts. The bigger building has a living room, kitchen and dining room, and a double bedroom. One of the huts makes up an extra bedroom, while the other is home to the only bathroom at this Lot. It’s an unusually-designed home lot, but Sims should appreciate living here.

Kin-Ship
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | Yes (Kealoha Household) |
| Cost | §41,538 |
| Size | 30 x 30 |
| Bedrooms | 3 |
| Bathrooms | 2 |
The Kealoha’s live in Kin-Ship, a modest house in Ohan’ali Town. This is a small-yet-idyllic home close to the center of the town. It’s also situated right next to the water, complete with two boats and a fire pit. There’s not a lot of space for outdoor landscaping, as it’s more water than land, but you could expand the house by first expanding the deck – or you can expand upwards.
Inside is a cozy set-up, with an open living area, kitchen, and dining space, with a double bedroom and two smaller bedrooms going off. There are technically two bathrooms, although one is a proper bathroom with a toilet, sink, and bathtub, while the other is technically a shower room with just a shower stall. It’s a small-yet-cozy home perfect for a family.

Lagoon Look
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §17,016 |
| Size | 30 x 20 |
| Bedrooms | 1 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
This is one of two vacant home lots in Ohan’ali Town. Although this one can only realistically accommodate a single Sim or couple, it’s slightly more luxurious than the other one. It’s also right by the water and the beach! There’s not a lot of room for expansion, but inside it’s quite spacious. There’s also more land than water, and there’s a deck out back for outdoor use.
- Lagoon Look.

Ohan’ali Beach
| Lot Type | Beach |
| Cost | §15,478 |
| Size | 30 x 30 |
This beach is better suited for families, including children, compared to the other beach in Lani St. Taz. It’s a little more down-market, but it has more to do here, plus it’s in the hub of Sulani, so your Sims could spend all day here. There’s even an on-site restroom so you don’t have to walk miles to use the facilities. There are also a few float loungers on the water if you want to relax on these. One final feature worth mentioning is the grill, should your Sim ever get hungry.
Tangled Flat
| Lot Type | Residential |
| Occupied | No |
| Cost | §15,625 |
| Size | 20 x 20 |
| Bedrooms | 2 |
| Bathrooms | 1 |
Tangled Flat is probably one of the most desirable homes in Sulani for a starter family. It’s affordable and big enough for a small family, and it’s right on the doorstep of Ohan’ali Town’s activities, such as the beach, bar, and square. It might be a little barebones when you first move in, but you can easily spruce it up and put your own homely touches onto it.
If you’re playing as a new family in Sulani, this is definitely a place to consider moving into.
- Tangled Flat.

The Sand Bar
| Lot Type | Bar |
| Cost | §29,043 |
| Size | 30 x 20 |
The bar is a great place to chill out on the beach and by the water, relax, listen to some good music, and enjoy a few drinks. This is a perfect beach bar where Sims can meet up and make new friends. It’s not really a place for kids, as there isn’t much to keep kids entertained, but it’s a good hangout spot for Sulani’s older visitors.

Collectibles in Sulani
Sulani has some unique collectibles you can find. These include treasures you can find whilst diving, snorkeling, cave exploring, and beachcombing, but there are also some exclusive harvestables such as coconuts, pineapples, and taro roots. As well as this are the usual rocks to dig for fossils, and Sulani is a great place for fishing. Let’s pinpoint every collectible location in Sulani.

Residents of Sulani
If you want to jump into a pre-made household in Sulani, there are 4 different families to choose from. You have two married women and her son, a wealthy middle-aged couple, a family with a Teen and Toddler, and a grandmother and her granddaughter of a traditional Sulani family. Each of these Sims live in different beautiful homes, and individually play different roles. We’ll dive into each household and share details of each individual Sim you can play as.
Hoapili Household
Residence: Chieftain’s Villa, Ohan’ali Town
Funds: §22,000
The Hoapili household is quite special. It’s only made up of two Sims, an older Sim and her granddaughter, but they serve as traditional locals of Sulani, continuing with their unique culture and way of life. When playing as these Sims, it’s hard to ignore this, especially with the Island Spirits Lot Challenge and their beautiful home.
Keala Hoapili
Keala is the head of her family, keen to continue their traditions and pass them down to her granddaughter. However, be mindful of two of her traits: Hot-Headed and Erratic. Keep an eye on her so she doesn’t do something rash to upset the other Sims, but she should be fine. Perhaps she could channel her energy into Gardening, which appears to be her passion.

Lia Hoapili
Lia is the youngest in her surviving family, but she does have a more modern way of living. She’s already a Level 4 Writer, so make sure you have a computer at hand so she can hone her skills. Her Guitar Skill at Level 3 also suggests this is something she enjoys when she’s not working.

Kahananui Household
Residence: Journey’s End, Lani St. Taz
Funds: §30,000
Alika and Mele are long-time residents of Sulani, even self-appointing themselves as “ambassadors” for Sulani. They used to live in the busy Ohan’ali Town, but moved to the quieter Lani St. Taz. They live in a big beautiful house that’s secluded yet not too far from the more bustling part of the neighborhood. Despite their official description stating that they’re living in their “golden years”, they’re not quite retired yet. This couple have a lot left to give before that option comes up.
Alika Kahananui
Alika, working in Business, maybe a little snooty, but all-round not a bad Sim for company. There’s probably room and time left for expansion in his career. If you really help him to reach the top, or at least near the top, he can also work on his Fabulously Wealthy Aspiration.

Kealoha Household
Residence: Kin-Ship, Ohan’ali Town
Funds: §24,000
The Kealoha’s are a picture-perfect family living in the most bustling neighborhood of Sulani. There’s happily married couple Makoa and Lilliana, and their young daughter Nani. There’s also Duane, a Teen Sim who lives with them, but he’s not related to them. He could be adopted, or perhaps he’s just staying with them.
Duane Talla
As mentioned, Duane is not related to the Kealoha’s. He just lives with them. He’s still treated as part of the family though, although his relationship statuses with all of them is set to Acquaintances, so maybe there’s room for blossoming friendships?
Keep in mind that as well as attending school, Duane also works as a Lifeguard, so make sure he gets to work and can juggle everything he needs to do. His best skill is in Fitness (presumably because of his part-time job), but his real passion seems to lie in fishing, so that might give you something to do with him when he’s not at work or school.

Makoa Kealoha
Makoa is the only pre-made Sim in Sulani who is in the Conservationist Career, which is exclusive to The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Pack. This career is very rewarding and fun to do, so I would definitely recommend you check that out. Playing as Makoa is a good character to go with if you want to try it out at least. Strangely, he has 5 traits instead of 4 (Young Adult Sims normally have 3 set ones, plus a bonus with their Aspiration). Not sure where the extra trait came from, but it’s a bonus, so you might as well take it and use it.

Nani Kealoha
Nani is a cute toddler and the youngest playable pre-made Sim in Sulani. With the beaches as her playground, she will surely thrive. Her Charmer trait will make social interactions easier. She also already has a head start in her Communication Skill, and her Thinking and Movement are set to 2, so maybe you could work on improving her skills before she ages up?

Ngata Household
Residence: Reef Finery, Lani St. Taz
Funds: §20,000
The backstory for the Ngata household is pretty straightforward. You have Leila, who traveled to Sulani and fell in love with the place – and also Oliana and her son Tane. Now Leila and Oliana are married and living together. That’s it. It’s simple enough, but it’s still a sweet love story that provides a warm setting for this household of 3 Sims.
They live a very comfortable and happy life in Lani St. Taz in their house by the sea, so you should enjoy playing this household.
Leila Illes
If you enjoy your Sims dabbling in the art of… well, art, then Leila is a good Sim to play as. Not only that, she’s living in one of the most beautiful worlds in The Sims 4. Imagine spending your days with her painting outside with the sea, sand, and jungle for views. What’s not to love? She’s really into painting, both in her career, traits, aspiration, and skill, so have fun indulging her.

Oliana Ngata
Oliana is really into keeping fit. Her career, traits, aspiration, and high Fitness Skill make it obvious what her favorite interest is. Sulani is the perfect setting for a good workout, jogging along the sands or swimming in the sea. You could build her a home gym as well, or just build a gym offsite at the empty lot in Lani St. Taz.

Tane Ngata
Young Tane’s already doing well at school, having reached the top with a grade A. He’s also somewhat geeky, so Video Gaming, Programming and Logic are probably going to be his favorite skills to work on when he ages up into a Teen. You should work on completing his Whiz Kid Aspiration so you can maximize his growth in these skills later in life.

Final Tips for Sulani
Before we wrap up this guide for Sulani, let’s end with a few final tips so you can get the most out of this world.
- Since The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion and its world Sulani were released before the arrival of Vacation Rentals, Sulani doesn’t contain any of these types of lots. However, Sulani is the perfect destination world, so if you’re not planning to move loads of Sims there, consider turning one or even two of the pre-built Residential Lots into a Vacation Rental.
- If you want to live in Sulani, Ohan’ali Town is the busiest neighborhood but has the most going on and more affordable homes, Lani St. Taz is quieter and more luxurious, and Mua Pel’am is the most secluded and contains the most unique Residential Lots.
- If you have a Sim in the Conservationist Career, you’ll see a visual environmental improvement in Mua Pel’am.
- Sulani is a good place to live if you plan to do lots of Odd Jobs, as some of these jobs are based in Sulani.
- Sulani doesn’t have many community lots aside from two beaches and a bar. Feel free to add in a museum, library, restaurant, spa, or bowling alley. A Small Business could be ideal here as well. However, keep in mind that there are only two empty Lots, both of which are partially in water.
