4. Best Ways to Level Up the Baking Skill Fast
The two main ways to increase the Baking Skill are by actively baking recipes or reading Baking Skill Books. Actively baking is far more effective. Baking every available recipe at least once in both the kitchen and cupcake factory can max the skill before running out of recipes.
To speed up progress, ensure your Sim is Inspired before starting. Use an Easel to paint, take a thoughtful shower, or use creative interactions to boost mood before baking.
Inspired Sims gain the Baking Skill faster.
5. How to Bake Food
To bake in the kitchen, you’ll need a refrigerator, a free countertop, and an oven. For cupcake recipes, purchase the cupcake factory from Build Mode for §1,200.
Using both the kitchen and cupcake factory ensures you unlock every recipe type. With The Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle Stuff, you can also sell baked goods at a food stall.
The cupcake factory may be on the pricey side, but it’s well worth having for the Baking Skill.
How to Use the Cupcake Factory
Select the machine, choose Bake Pastries, and pick your recipe. The baked goods will be placed on the nearest surface when complete, so have a clear table nearby.
It’s Bake Pastries you want, not Cook Cupcakes.
Where to Place the Cupcake Factory
The factory is large, so set aside a dedicated indoor or outdoor space. If indoors is crowded, build a basement to house it.
Refilling and Cleaning
After multiple uses, the cupcake factory will need refilling or cleaning. Refilling costs §20.
Cupcake Factory vs Kitchen Baking
The cupcake factory is faster and allows instant sales with the Sell to Local Bakery interaction, which pays immediately. Kitchen baking takes longer but includes recipes exclusive to the oven.
Unlike kitchen creations, you can immediately sell cupcake factory items.
Decorating Baked Goods
Unlocked at Level 3, Decorate improves the appearance, quality, and value of most baked goods. It costs §10 per item and can only be applied once per bake.
Decorating baked creations changes its appearance, as well as its original selling price and quality.
Eating Baked Goods
Baked goods restore less Hunger than Cooking Skill meals. Eating removes the option to sell them, so decide before serving.

With The Sims 4 Get to Work, you can run a retail store and sell baked goods directly to customers. With Home Chef Hustle Stuff, use a food stall to sell anywhere. The cupcake factory also allows instant sales to a local bakery for quick payouts.
7. How to Get Baking Ingredients
Ingredients are optional for most recipes, but using them reduces cost and can improve quality. Only three recipes require specific ingredients. Below are ways to get them based on the packs you own.
Growing, Harvesting, and Purchasing Plants
Grow produce at home, harvest in the wild, or purchase from world-specific shops such as the Grocery or Garden Shop in Henford-on-Bagley (Cottage Living).
Look for stalls selling produce to get baking ingredients.
Where to Get Milk, Flour, and Sugar
Buy from the Grocery Shop in Henford-on-Bagley. Milk can also be collected from cows (Cottage Living) or goats (Horse Ranch).
If you don’t have access to a cow, you can buy milk and other ingredients at the shop in the village.
Where to Get Fish
Some pies require specific fish like Bass, Trout, Salmon, or Perch. These can be caught in fishing spots, bought from grocery shops, or sourced from fishing vendors in worlds like Brindleton Bay (Cats & Dogs).
You can buy fish, or catch your own.
Where to Get Berry Jam and Chocolate Syrup
These are canned goods made at any stove with the Cooking Skill or purchased from the Garden Shop in Henford-on-Bagley (Cottage Living).
Canned goods are available at the Garden Shop.
Where to Get Batter, Dough, and Cookie Dough
With Home Chef Hustle Stuff, use the stand mixer to prepare these ingredients for baking.

Where to Get Alien Fruit
Required for Alien Fruit Tarts, found in Sixam (Get to Work) by rocket travel with Wormhole Generator upgrade, Scientist career Electroflux Wormhole Generator build and upgrade, or using Fairy Dust on the Starseed Teleporter in Innisgreen (Enchanted by Nature).
In Sixam, look specifically for the purple spiky plant called Wild Quill Plant.
Quill Plant is used for Alien Fruit Tarts.
Where to Get Madame Zoe’s Voodoo Doll
Needed for Voodoo Doll Doughnuts, obtained through Mischief Skill, Thanatology, fishing, rock digging, the Flea Market (City Living), or Humor & Hijinks Festival prizes.
The voodoo doll is an expensive ingredient.
Where to Get Cowplant Essence
Used for Cowplant Essence Meringue Pie. Harvest from a Cowplant after it eats a Sim or acquire via Debug in Build Mode for §900.
No access to a Cowplant? Use the Debug cheat to get Essence. It’s very expensive though.
