The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits - Papercrafting Skill Guide

The Papercrafting Skill in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack lets your Sim create colorful papercraft items using the DIY Papercrafting Kit. You can decorate with finished pieces, sell them for profit, or use special interactions tied to specific crafts. This guide explains Skill Levels, where to find kits, leveling-up methods, and every item you can make.

1. Why You Should Learn the Papercrafting Skill in The Sims 4

This section highlights the practical benefits of the Papercrafting Skill for everyday gameplay, from décor to making money. It also shows how the skill connects with collections and social interactions for additional Moodlets and progression.

  • Create for fun: It’s relaxing and creative, with more designs unlocking as you level up.
  • Decorate your home: Place finished papercraft creations around your lot for instant flair.
  • Gift to friends: Give papercrafts via the Gift interaction for a positive Moodlet.
  • Low-cost crafting: The DIY Papercrafting Kit is cheap, and many free kits are found around Gibbi Point. Individual designs are inexpensive, from §1 to §9.
  • Sell for profit: Sell from your Inventory, on Plopsy, or at market stalls, with value influenced by item type and quality.
  • Progress collections: You need Papercrafting Skill Level 2 to make the Magical Origami Butterfly used in the Gibbi Point Butterfly & Moth Collection.

Without the Magical Origami Butterfly, you cannot complete your entomology collection.

2. Where to Find the DIY Papercrafting Kit in The Sims 4

To start the Papercrafting Skill, you need the DIY Papercrafting Kit. You can buy it in Build Mode under Activities & Skills → Creative for §20, or find many free kits scattered around Gibbi Point in every neighborhood. This makes it easy to craft on the go without purchasing one immediately.

3. How to Craft Papercraft Items (DIY Kit & Setup)

Crafting uses the DIY Papercrafting Kit placed on a surface your Sim can sit at, such as a dining table, desk, countertop, or outdoor bench. Interact with the kit to choose a category like Origami or Paper Mache, then pick a set (for example, Funky Animals or Butterfly) and select a color or design.

Most papercrafts complete in moments, and finished items appear in your Inventory. If you cancel midway, choose Resume on the kit to continue later. You can also choose Scrap if you don’t wish to carry on. Each completed item is graded by quality—you’ll commonly see Normal, Excellent, or Epic, with the chance of an occasional botched or Poor result.

You can check the quality of a papercraft by hovering over it.

4. How to Build the Papercrafting Skill

The fastest way to level the Papercrafting Skill is by actively crafting with the DIY Papercrafting Kit. You can speed things up by working while Inspired, or by reading Papercrafting Skill Books to gain additional progress between sessions.

Your skill rises with each creation. Crafting while in an Inspired Mood increases skill gain noticeably, helping you unlock higher-tier designs sooner.

5. How to Sell, Gift, and Display Papercrafts

Completed papercrafts support multiple outcomes. Use these options to monetize, share, or decorate with your creations, depending on your current goals and household needs.

  • Sell: Sell items directly from your Inventory, list them on Plopsy, or use a market stall. Earnings vary by item type and quality.
  • Gift: Give papercrafts to other Sims with the Gift interaction on the item. This provides a positive Moodlet.
  • Decorate: Place origami, paper mache animals, and other crafts around your lot to customize your home.

6. Special Papercraft Interactions

Certain papercrafting items include unique interactions that add flavor and utility to everyday gameplay. These effects range from Playful Moodlets to wearable masks and fortune-telling.

  • Paper Airplane: Use Throw Airplane for a Playful Moodlet.
  • Card: Choose Write in Card to add a message to any card.
  • Origami: Enable Wall Placement to hang origami as décor.
  • ‘Peculiar Plumbird’ Mask: Wear it to change your Sim’s walk style (toggleable) and gain a Playful Moodlet, or Add to Wardrobe to access it in Create-A-Sim under Headwear.
  • Cootie Catcher: Use Tell a Fortune on another Sim, or ask them to tell yours (if they accept). Outcomes can grant positive or negative Moodlets and may influence certain skill gain.
