The Sims 4 Reaper’s Rewards Event Week 2 Guide

The Sims 4's Reaper's Rewards Event continues on into Week 2, where we will take you through the tasks of the two quests. This week, you'll be busy befriending the Grim Reaper, as well as continuing to work on your Sim's Cooking, Gardening, and also Fishing skills.

The Sims 4 Reaper's Rewards Event Week 2 Guide

The Reaper’s Rewards Event kickstarted in The Sims 4 on September 24th with Week 1. The event continues with Week 2, which started on October 1st. This week continues on from the first week, with the two new quests having your Sims working on three vital skills for making Ambrosia: Cooking, Gardening, and Fishing. Your Sims are also instructed to befriend the Grim Reaper, which makes sense as this event is all about him. Week 2 of the Reaper’s Rewards Event is fairly straightforward, but if you do find yourself needing a little guidance, then look no further than this guide.

If you missed Week 1, we’ve got you covered with a guide to the first week. Also, if you have missed the first week, don’t panic as you can easily catch up on previous weeks in this event. The Reaper’s Rewards Event lasts for eight weeks altogether, consisting of two new quests releasing over six weeks, then an extra two weeks if you need more time. The event officially ends on November 19th 2024. If you want to learn more about The Reaper’s Rewards Event and how it works, you can read our overview, or we give a brief explanation at the start of the Week 1 guide. You can also check out the event explanation at The Sims 4‘s official website.

Without further ado, let’s take you through Week 2 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event!

Digging Holes Quest Walkthrough

Total Quest Event Points: 250

Let’s get started with the first of the two quests: Digging Holes. As you might have guessed, this particular quest focuses on Gardening. Gardening is a key skill to making Ambrosia in The Sims 4, along with three other skills: Cooking, Gourmet Cooking, and Fishing. This quest covers some of these other skills as well, but the main focus is on Gardening. Don’t worry too much about the Gourmet Cooking skill right now; that’ll come later in the event.

Order a Starter Fruit Seed Packet

Event Points: +25

If you recall Week 1 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event, one of the first tasks was to purchase a Starter Flower Seed Packet. This week, you need to get yourself another starter seed packet, this time for fruit. There are a few ways to get one of these. You can buy a Starter Fruit Seed Packet via your Sim’s phone by looking under Shopping > Purchase Gift Items. If you use the Gardening filter, you’ll quickly find the starter seeds. Another way is through any computer, under Order > Purchase Seeds, and the starter fruit will be there too. Finally, you can buy these seeds by entering Buy/Build Mode and looking under Activities & Skills > Outdoor Activities – or you can enter the name into the search bar. Starter Fruit Seed Packets cost 35 Simoleons each.

Whichever method you choose, get yourself a packet of starter fruit seeds to fulfil this task and unlock the following task.

You can buy starter seeds in Buy Mode, through purchasing gifts, or ordering on the computer.

Plant an Apple/Plant a Cherry

Event Points: +25 Each

Also just like the first week, after you’ve bought the Starter Fruit Seed Packet, you’ll be required to plant two plants: an apple and a cherry. These actually appear as two separate tasks listed in The Reaper’s Rewards Event tab, but for the purpose of this guide, we’ll talk about it in one section.

If you don’t have The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack installed, this task is very easy. Open up the Starter Fruit Seed Packet and it should contain some apples and cherries, which will appear in your Sim’s Inventory. Just place the plants on the ground and select Plant. Note that these are fruit trees, and take up a whole planter, so keep this in mind when deciding whether to plant freely on the ground or in their own planter.

Things are a tad complicated with Seasons involved. For one, you cannot plant plants when it is freezing, which you’re likely to experience in the winter – although this does depend on which world your Sim lives in. It probably won’t be an issue in worlds with warmer climates like Ciudad Enamorada or Oasis Springs. The second thing to watch out for is that apples and cherries are in season at different times of year. Apples only produce harvest in the fall, while cherries provide harvest in the summer.

Having Seasons does complicate things slightly.

Having Seasons does complicate things slightly.

However, this isn’t an issue when it comes to planting. If it is freezing, wait for it to warm up, or plant the apple and cherry inside or under a roof, as the tooltip suggests. It doesn’t need to be their season for you to plant them. Also, do make sure that when you initiate the Plant action, the tasks are visible at the top of the screen. What this means is that you don’t necessarily need the Digging Holes tab open, but the list of Reaper’s Rewards tasks should be visible. If done correctly, as you plant each of the apple and cherry, the task will be ticked off the list and the event points added on. If for whatever reason it doesn’t work, try again. You should have some extra apples and cherries.

If for some reason apples and cherries don’t come with the seed packet, or you run out, you can get more via a few ways. You can purchase another Starter Fruit Seed Packet. You can also find apples and cherries growing in the wild in the neighborhoods of Willow Creek (apples) and Oasis Springs (cherries). Be aware that with Seasons, you can only pick the fruits when they’re in season.

Apples and cherries can be planted in planters, but they take up the whole planter.

Fertilize 2 Plants

Event Points: +35

Once you’ve got an apple and cherry planted, a new task appears: fertilizing 2 plants. This is pretty easy, but there is a catch: your Sim needs their Gardening skill at level 3 at least to access the Fertilize interaction on any plants you’re growing. The plant also needs to be in season. If you have Seasons and can’t Fertilize the apple, cherry, lily, or snapdragon you’ve planted, plant some plants that are in season and fertilize those instead. You can only use the Fertilize interaction once every while on a plant. You can use anything to Fertilize your plants, including other harvestables and fish. Go with anything in your Inventory for now to fulfil this task.

Fertilize any available plant with any available fertilizer for now.

Catch 3 Fish

Event Points: +35

It’s time to get fishing! For this task, you just need to catch 3 fish. You can catch them anywhere; any fishing spot, any neighborhood, any world. So long as they’re a fish and there’s 3 of them, you will complete this task.

There's nothing like spending a relaxing day fishing - unless you or your Sim hates fishing.

Digging Holes Quest Conclusion

That’s everything for this quest! Once you’ve fertilized 2 plants and caught 3 fish, you’re done. The pop-up you get after completing the last task in this quest advises you to keep working on your garden and Fishing skills. Who knows what next week’s tasks may bring, so it’s best to be prepared.

Friends With Death Quest Walkthrough

Total Quest Event Points: 300

The second quest of Week 2 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event is a little more involved than the first, with more tasks to complete. However, like the first quest, these aren’t impossible. Just follow this guide and you won’t go wrong.

Wait for the Ambrosia Society Newsletter

Event Points: +15

Again, this week’s second quest starts with your Sim waiting for the next addition of the Ambrosia Society Newsletter. This is worth waiting for, as it contains useful information that’ll help guide you and your Sim to making Ambrosia. You shouldn’t have to wait too long for the newsletter to arrive. Give it a few in-game hours, a day at the very most. The moment it arrives in your post (you’ll get notified), this task will change to the next one.

Keep an eye on your mailbox for the second edition of the Ambrosia Society Newsletter.

Read the Ambrosia Society Newsletter

Event Points: +25

First, retrieve the Ambrosia Society Newsletter in your Sim’s mailbox, if you haven’t yet. It’ll appear in their Inventory. The next step is to read it. Just select it from the Inventory and choose Read, and this task will be marked as done. Be sure to read the information provided in the pop-up messages after initiating the Read action. It’ll give you some useful tips on this week’s quest. It advises you on two things, the first being earning Satisfaction Points through completing Whims and Aspiration Goals. The second bit of advice tells you to work on your Sim’s Gardening skill so they can take cuttings from plants, specifically lilies and snapdragons. We’ll go into this more later in the guide.

Fulfil an Aspiration Goal

Event Points: +35

The difficulty of this task depends on what Aspiration you’ve got selected for your Sim, as well as their available tasks. You just need to complete an Aspiration Goal – any goal – to get this done. If you’ve completed an Aspiration, select a new one if you haven’t already. Ideally, pick one with easy tasks so you can quickly check this task off your list. If you’re still working through an Aspiration but are struggling to complete the tasks due to them being hard and time-consuming, consider changing your Sim’s Aspiration to an easier one for the sake of this task. You can always change it back again afterwards.

Unless you want a challenge, set an easy Aspiration Goal for your Sim.

Apply the Scare Seeker Lot Challenge to Your Lot

Event Points: +35

This task should be very straightforward. In Week 1 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event, you should have unlocked the Scare Seeker Lot Challenge as one of the rewards for completing event tasks. For this task, you need to add it to the Lot your Sim is living in.

If you’ve never added a Lot Challenge to a Lot in The Sims 4 before, it’s very easy. Just follow these steps. Go into Build Mode, then in the top-left corner of the screen, you should see a tab with the name of the Lot. On the left side of this is an icon of a house with an “i” in it. This is the Venue Info button. Select this to open up options on the Lot. You should now see two options at the top of this new pop-up box. The one that opens up automatically is the Venue Info, but the one next to it, a hexagon with a question mark, contains the Lot’s Traits and Challenges. Select this option to bring this up.

Here, you’ll see the Lot’s currently assigned Lot Traits and Challenges. Some Lots have none, while others may have Traits, Challenges, or both. What you need to do here is select Lot Challenges, which is the trophy icon. You should see a list of all available Lot Challenges, listed in alphabetical order. The one you want is Scare Seeker. This has a picture of a pink Sim with blue lines surrounding them. Select this to assign the Scare Seeker Lot Challenge.

Done! Just return to Live Mode to mark this task as officially completed.

Cook a Recipe While Level 4 or Higher

Event Points: +35

If you remember playing through Week 1’s quests of The Reaper’s Rewards Event, you may recall having to cook a meal with a Cooking skill of at least level 3. This task is more-or-less the same, except this time, your Sim’s Cooking skill needs to be at level 4. Make sure their Cooking skill is at 4 or higher first, then cook any meal you wish to complete this task.

Treat your Sims to a mouthwatering meal only available from Cooking skill level 4.

Treat your Sims to a mouthwatering meal only available from Cooking skill level 4.

Take a Cutting of a Plant

Event Points: +35

This task isn’t necessarily difficult, but it does need a few requirements to complete it. Before you can Take a Cutting from a plant, your Sim needs a Gardening skill of at least level 5. If they aren’t at that level yet, get them busy in the garden or reading their Gardening skill book. However, even with a level 5 Gardening skill, there’s another thing you need to know. In order to Take a Cutting, the plant has to be fully matured. This doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be producing harvestable plants, but it does mean it has to have reached its full size.

Plants usually grow to their full size even when they’re not currently in season. One annoying bug in The Sims 4 (at the moment at least) is that if you have plants growing on your Lot, if you go away to another neighborhood and come back, the plants might revert back to the state they were in when they were first planted, aka not matured. This is of course annoying, but it shouldn’t take long for the plant to regrow back to its original size.

You’ll know the plant is matured and ready for cutting because the interaction is available. The plant in question must also – as always – be in season. You can’t take a cutting from an out-of-season plant. To summarize, in order to get a cutting, you need a Gardening skill level of 5 or higher, the plant needs to be fully grown, and it needs to be in season. With all 3 requirements met, you can just Take a Cutting from the plant and you’re done.

It is a little fiddly unlocking this interaction, but the action itself is very quick and easy.

Become Friends and Socialize With the Grim Reaper

Event Points: +35

Just one final task to do and that’s Week 2 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event done! For this task, you need to befriend and socialize with none other than the Grim Reaper himself. Remember that you can summon the Grim Reaper using The Grimophone reward object, which you unlock through doing Week 1. If you don’t have it on your Lot, get one (and keep it; you’ll be needing it throughout The Reaper’s Rewards Event.)

Get the Grim Reaper over to your Sim’s Lot. He should arrive promptly. Then just use positive interactions on him until you become friends with him. It shouldn’t take too long if you keep working at it.

Who knew the Grim Reaper was such a nice guy?

Friends With Death Quest Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve completed the second quest of the second week of The Reaper’s Rewards Event in The Sims 4. Like the first quest, you do get a concluding pop-up message, but it just tells you to keep working on your Sim’s Aspiration.

Like Week 1, there are plenty of goodies to unlock in Week 2 of The Reaper’s Rewards Event. There are new books, clothing items, and potions this week. Here’s the complete list of rewards:
