The Sims 4 How to Complete the Master Mentor Aspiration

The Master Mentor Aspiration in The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion challenges players to mentor other Sims, host Hobby Classes, and max out three 10-level skills. This guide explains how to prepare, complete each milestone, and unlock the Motivational Speaker reward trait.

How to Prepare for the Master Mentor Aspiration

Before starting the Aspiration, your Sim needs three things: skills with full level ranges, a business lot with a classroom, and an understanding of the mentoring system. Preparation is essential to progress through the milestones efficiently.

Best Skills to Max Out for Master Mentor

Choose your Sim’s focus carefully. You’ll be required to reach level 10 in three skills, so pick ones that are efficient and compatible with your Sim’s traits and likes.

  • Check if your Sim already has progress in any 10-level skills. Even a small head start saves a lot of time.
  • Avoid short skills like Dancing, Bowling, and Photography — these cap at level 5 and won’t count.
  • Use traits to your advantage. For example:
    • Foodie Sims improve Cooking and Gourmet Cooking faster.
    • Creative Sims excel at Painting and Writing.
    • Geek Sims benefit from Video Gaming, Programming, and Rocket Science.
  • Focus on skills that match your Sim’s likes. Disliked skills slow down progress and cause tense moods.

Completing the Master Mentor Aspiration is a lot easier when you work on skills your Sim enjoys.

How to Set Up a Classroom for Teaching Hobby Classes

You’ll need a fully functional classroom inside a Small Business to complete multiple objectives. This allows your Sim to host Hobby Classes later in the Aspiration.

  1. Start a Small Business using the phone or computer.
  2. Designate a large room as a classroom on your home lot or separate venue.
  3. Purchase a whiteboard — this is required to run Hobby Classes.
  4. Add at least three skill-specific objects for students. Examples:
    • Painting: 3 easels
    • Pottery: 3 pottery wheels + 3 kilns
    • Writing: 3 computers
  5. Ensure all objects are placed within range of the whiteboard.

To complete the Master Mentor Aspiration, you will be required to have your own small business.

Milestone 1: Fledgling Mentee

In the first stage of the Master Mentor Aspiration, your Sim is the student. You’ll need to gain a mentor, attend Hobby Classes, and raise three skills to level 3.

How to Get a Mentor

Your Sim must find a more experienced Sim and ask to become their mentee for the Aspiration’s first task.

  1. Visit Small Businesses in Nordhaven like:
    • Terra-Potta (Pottery)
    • Koffieboon (Writing)
    • Spilled Neon (Tattooing)
    • Hobby Meetups are another good place to meet potential mentors.
  2. Use Friendly interactions to build rapport with skilled Sims.
  3. Confirm that the Sim teaches a skill you plan to level up later.
  4. Once the relationship is high enough, use the interaction Ask to Be [Sim]’s Mentee.

How to Attend Hobby Classes and Earn Bronze

Hobby Classes are goaled events where Sims build skills and socialize. You need to attend 3 classes and earn at least a Bronze rating in each.

  1. Find a classroom with a whiteboard (e.g., Koffieboon or Konst Modern in Nordhaven).
  2. Click the whiteboard and select Ask to Start Class.
  3. Choose the available skill and assign a teacher from the list.
  4. During class, complete tasks like:
    • Listen to lecture for 30 minutes
    • Practice skill activity for 45 minutes
    • Discuss interests with classmates
  5. Complete the tasks within the 5 hour time limit.
  6. Finish the class with a Bronze rating or higher. Repeat this process 3 times.

Hobby Classes are a great new ways of developing skills, no matter your Sim’s level.

How to Reach Level 3 in 3 Different Skills

This task builds naturally from the previous one. Focus on the same skills from your Hobby Classes to progress efficiently.

  • Classes provide large skill gains, especially when your Sim is Focused or being mentored.
  • Choose skills your Sim likes to avoid negative moodlets and slower progress.
  • You can also practice skills outside class using the relevant objects at home or your business lot.

Milestone 2: Aspiring Student

This stage deepens your Sim’s experience as a learner. You must make a friend during a Hobby Class, earn a Gold rating in one class, get mentored for 3 hours, and raise 3 skills to level 5.

How to Make a New Friend During a Hobby Class

Friendship can be built during any active class session. You must complete this interaction before the class ends.

  1. Start a Hobby Class via a whiteboard.
  2. Use Friendly interactions with other attendees.
  3. Prioritize Sims your Sim already knows slightly, but hasn’t befriended yet.
  4. Continue interactions until the relationship status becomes “Friends.”

How to Earn Gold in a Hobby Class

To earn Gold, you must complete most or all tasks listed during the event.

  • Prioritize the Main Goal — listening to the teacher’s lecture.
  • Complete supporting tasks like skill practice and discussion.
  • If possible, complete the above “Make a Friend” task in the same class session.
  • If you don’t succeed in one class, attend another just for the Gold rating.

Do all, if not most, of the tasks as requested in a Hobby Class to earn Gold.

How to Be Mentored for 3 Hours

Your Sim needs to be mentored for a total of 3 in-game hours. This does not need to be done in a single session or by the same mentor.

  1. Select a skill-building object your Sim is using (e.g., computer, easel).
  2. Click the object and choose Ask for [Skill] Mentoring if a qualified Sim is nearby.
  3. Repeat this with different skills or mentors until you reach 3 hours total mentoring.

How to Reach Level 5 in 3 Skills

This requirement builds on your earlier progress. All three skills must reach level 5, and previously earned levels count toward this goal.

  • Continue attending Hobby Classes in your focus skills.
  • Use the Focused emotion where possible to boost learning speed.
  • Mentoring sessions provide faster gain and fulfill multiple objectives.

Milestone 3: Passionate Teacher

Now that your Sim has grown as a learner, it’s time to start teaching. This milestone requires you to become a mentor to another Sim, teach 5 Hobby Classes, and reach level 8 in 3 skills.

How to Become Another Sim’s Mentor

Your Sim must now provide guidance instead of receiving it. They must find a Sim and become their mentor.

  1. Your Sim can approach another Sim and Offer to Be Mentor.
  2. Another Sim may also ask your Sim to become their mentor, presented as a pop-up message.
  3. The student Sim must have a lower skill level than your Sim in that skill.

You might get lucky and be asked to be another Sim’s mentor. Or you can just approach them yourself.

How to Mentor Another Sim for 3 Hours

Mentoring is done during another Sim’s skill-building activity. Your Sim needs to mentor other Sims for a total of 3 hours.

  1. Find a Sim currently using a skill object (e.g., easel, computer, treadmill).
  2. Click the Sim or the object and choose Offer Mentoring.
  3. Alternatively, select an idle object and invite a Sim to use it, then start mentoring.
  4. Your Sim can mentor different Sims in different skills to meet the 3 hour requirement.

How to Teach 5 Hobby Classes

At this stage, your Sim must teach classes using their own Small Business classroom.

  1. Open your Small Business during the day to allow customers in.
  2. Click your classroom whiteboard and select Start Class.
  3. Choose a skill you have at least level 5 in and ensure the equipment is in place.
  4. Lead the session and complete class tasks. Repeat until 5 separate classes are completed.

Classes will be unavailable if you don’t meet the required skill level, don’t have the right equipment, or the business isn’t yours.

How to Reach Level 8 in 3 Skills

You’re nearing the skill cap now. Level 8 unlocks the potential for Mastery Perks and is the final step before full mastery.

  • Continue working on the same three 10-level skills you’ve focused on from earlier stages.
  • Utilize Hobby Classes and mentoring to speed up learning.
  • Make sure your Sim is in the optimal emotion state for each skill (e.g., Focused for logic-related, Inspired for creative).

Milestone 4: Master Mentor

This final milestone is all about completing your Sim’s journey. You’ll need to earn Gold ratings while teaching, gain a Mastery Perk, and reach level 10 in 3 skills. It’s demanding but unlocks powerful rewards.

How to Earn Gold From Teaching Hobby Classes

Just like as a student, your Sim now needs to hit the top rank—but this time as a teacher. For this task, your Sim needs to earn Gold in teaching 2 separate Hobby Classes.

  1. Open your Small Business and start a class from your whiteboard.
  2. Ensure the classroom has all required objects and your Sim is at least level 5 in the selected skill.
  3. Complete every class task, especially:
    • Deliver the lecture (main task)
    • Mentor a student
    • Discuss the skill with students
  4. Earn a Gold rating twice across separate classes.

Successful classes will leave your Sim’s customers feel not only satisfied, but inspired.

How to Gain a Skill Mastery Perk

Mastery Perks are powerful buffs available once your Sim reaches level 8 in a skill. You only need one perk to complete this objective, and there are three ways to get it:

  1. Random Unlock: Continue using a skill at level 8+ and wait for a popup granting a perk. Accept it when offered.
  2. Ask a Resident: Befriend specific Nordhaven residents and use Ask to Bestow Mastery Perk. Eligible Sims include:
    • Jolanda Koopman (Final Touch)
    • Gert Koopman (Creative Aura)
    • Gramma Hattie Loden (Secret Spice)
    • Nora Loden (In The Zone)
    • Cannonball Coleman (Powerful Performer)
  3. Purchase from Reward Store: Costs 8,000 Satisfaction Points, available for any eligible skill.

How to Reach Level 10 in 3 Skills

This is the final task for the Master Mentor Aspiration. Max out the same three ten-level skills you’ve built throughout.

  • Use the most efficient skill-building method for each: solo practice, classes, or mentoring.
  • Ensure your Sim’s emotion boosts align with the skill.
  • You may gain a Mastery Perk naturally while leveling to 10 if not already earned.
Reaching Skill Level 10.

Getting to level 10 in a skill is an amazing achievement. Even more so if it’s the first time in your game.

Reward for Completing the Master Mentor Aspiration

Once you complete all tasks, your Sim receives the Motivational Speaker trait. This reward has strong benefits for teaching and social support:

  • Gives a happiness boost to nearby Sims when delivering speeches.
  • Temporarily increases skill gain for the audience.
  • Boosts Mastery Perk chances for other Sims being inspired by your Sim’s story.

Once you have finished the Master Mentor Aspiration, your Sim will have mastered many skills.
