The Sims 4 Blast From the Past Event Week 1 Guide

A brand-new event begins in The Sims 4: Blast From the Past, and this guide covers the first two quests of week 1. This 4-week event has your Sims helping out a time traveler, while looking back to the past themselves with brand-new items to unlock.

The Sims 4 Blast From the Past Event Week 1 Guide

Celebrations for The Sims‘ grand 25th anniversary is underway, and one way to mark this extraordinary occasion is with a brand-new event taking place in The Sims 4, fittingly titled Blast From the Past. Every week for the next month or so, new quests will become available for you to do, involving completing tasks in order to unlock exclusive reward items. With week 1 kicking off, let’s guide you through everything you need to do to complete the first two quests of this event and unlock all the new items.

Blast From the Past is available to complete for the base game of The Sims 4

Our guide to Week 2 of the Blast From the Past Event is also now available.

How Blast From the Past Event Works

The Sims 4 has had two events so far: Reaper’s Rewards and Cozy Celebrations. This is the third such event to take place in The Sims 4, at least in this format. If you’re unfamiliar with how these events work, here’s the lowdown of how Blast From the Past will unfold.

  • Every week, two quests will be available to complete. These involve performing different tasks.
  • Once you complete the first quest, the next one will automatically begin.
  • By completing tasks, you earn event points. These in turn are used to unlock bonus items from the event tab. You’ll be able to earn a certain amount of points in each quest.
  • Blast From the Past lasts for four weeks, with an extra two weeks to give you enough time to complete the event. The event will officially end on March 18th.
  • After completing the event, you get to keep all the items you unlocked.
  • Rewards include new clothing, objects, books, potions, traits, Simoleons, satisfaction points, and collectibles (milk cartons in this case).
  • Rewards must be claimed in the event menu to unlock them for use.
  • The list of tasks will appear in the top corner of the screen. The event tab can be accessed next to this list.
  • Interactions specifically tied to the tasks will have an icon of Emit the time traveler next to them.

Now you know more about how the event works, let’s get started with the first week and first set of quests for Blast From the Past!

A Strange Visitor Quest Walkthrough

Total Quest Event Points: 50

It all starts here! The very first quest of Blast From the Past introduces you to the event, and a very interesting visitor. Let’s find out how you can meet them!

Tune in to the News for 15 Minutes

Event Points: 25

The first task gets your Sims to watch the news on TV. Get your Sims sat in front of the TV and watching the news channel to find out what’s going on.

  • Find a television, either at home or on a community lot.
  • Select Watch Channel.
  • Choose Watch News.
  • Have your Sim watch the news channel for 15 minutes.

When the task says 15 minutes, it means 15 minutes in-game time, which is actually 15 seconds in real time. It shouldn’t take long for your Sims to find out what they need to know, and to cross the first task off the list.

Something big has just happened in town, and it's being reported on the news.

Check Emit’s Social Media Profile

Event Points: 15

So, what is the big news? It turns out that a time traveler has been spotted in town. All that’s known is this Sim has distinctive blue hair and goes by the name of Emit Relevart. It’s time to do some investigating.

  • Find a computer. You can either buy one or go to another lot with a computer to use it. Libraries tend to have lots of computers.
  • Select Social Networking.
  • Choose Check Emit’s Profile.

Ask Other Sims About Emit

Event Points: 25

It seems that Emit’s description matches that on the news, but your Sim still wants to do some digging. To do that, you need to ask Sims around town about Emit. You need to do this 3 times to check the task off.

If you try to do this with a stranger, you’ll need to introduce yourself first to unlock all the interactions. After that, Ask About Emit should appear on the initial list of interactions.

"Hey, do you know anything about this Emit?"

Travel to Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek

Event Points: 15

One of the Sims you speak to mentions that someone saw something down by the park. More specifically, this is referring to Magnolia Blossom Park, located in Willow Creek. It seems too good an opportunity to pass.

  • Travel via the phone.
  • Select which Sims to bring, but this is optional.
  • Select the world Willow Creek if you’re currently in a different world.
  • Select Magnolia Blossom Park. It’s the big lot in the middle of the world map.
  • Select Confirm to travel there.

Introduce Yourself to Emit Relevart

Event Points: 15

Now you’re at the park, you now need to find Emit Relevart. The park is quite big, so locating him can be daunting. He will be there though. Remember that Emit has blue hair, so keep an eye out! Or, you may get lucky and Emit will come to you instead.

Once you locate him, select Emit and introduce yourself.

Ask Emit Relevart About the Missing Items

Event Points: 15

You’ve met Emit! He is indeed a time traveler, as well as a technology expert. He’s also in a bit of a bind. He’s been traveling through time and has appeared to have got stuck. He asks you if you know anything about unexplained missing items. You have no clue, so why not ask him?

Simply use Ask About Missing Items on Emit to complete this task.

Ask Other Sims About Missing Items

Event Points: 25

Emit explains that he’s been traveling to the past and has noticed some missing items. He asks you about this. You don’t know yourself, so you should ask other Sims.

You need to ask 3 Sims about the missing items. Like before, if you’ve never met, introduce yourself and then the Ask About Missing Items social will show up. Some of the Sims you ask mention items that you’ll eventually unlock through completing the Blast From the Past event.

A Strange Visitor Quest Conclusion

And with that is the end of the first quest in The Sims 4‘s Blast From the Past Event. You’ve met Emit, the centre of this event. But there’s no time to rest yet! We’ve only just got started! As soon as you wrap up the first quest, the next one automatically begins: Missing Clues.

Total Quest Event Points: 50

With your Sim(s) introduced to the mysterious Emit, the quest really begins to get interesting as he asks for your help in locating his missing items. Let’s go and find them!

Refresh Your Memory With The Sims Archives

Event Points: 25

For this first task of the next quest, your Sim will need to refresh their memories on the lost items. If these are items from the past, maybe your Sims can remember them? To do this, they’ll need to jump back on the computer and play none other than The Sims!

  • Find a computer.
  • Select Play Game.
  • Select Play The Sims Archives (not The Sims Forever).
It's not The Sims Forever you're looking for, but The Sims Archives.

Find the Special Time Capsule

Event Points: 35

While playing The Sims, your Sim observed a strangely dressed Sim (Emit?) digging a time capsule that was glowing. Maybe this time capsule holds the answers? Perhaps you should go out and dig it up!

  • Locate either a rock or dirt mound in any neighborhood in any world.
  • Select the rock or dirt mound and choose Dig for Special Time Capsule.

If you’re familiar with locating time capsules, this should be a doddle. If not, you need to send your Sim out into the world and look for either a dirt mound or rock. Make sure to Dig for Special Time Capsule and not Dig, otherwise you won’t find the time capsule.

There are plenty of dig spots around the various worlds in The Sims 4, including the base game worlds Willow Creek and Oasis Springs.

A dig spot is never that far away from your Sims.

Open the Special Time Capsule

Event Points: 15

Now you’ve got the special time capsule, you might as well go ahead and open it!

  • Select your Sim’s Inventory.
  • Locate the time capsule and select Open.

If for whatever reason you lose the time capsule before you get the chance to open it, don’t panic. You can recover it via your Sim’s mailbox. You’ll need to pay a fee to replace it.

What could possibly be in this time capsule?

Read the IOU

Event Points: 15

Upon opening the time capsule, you find… an IOU note. Hmm? Looks like someone took something from the time capsule!

  • In your Sim’s Inventory, select the IOU Note.
  • Select Read IOU Note.

Like the time capsule, a misplaced IOU Note can be recovered via the mailbox, for a price.

IOU? I owe you what, exactly?

Report Back to Emit

Event Points: 25

With the discovery of the time capsule and the IOU note, you should let Emit know about your findings.

  • Locate Emit at the Magnolia Blossom Park, or…
  • Summon Emit to your current lot via your Sim’s phone, or by selecting his portrait in the Relationships panel.
  • Select Report About Time Capsule.
I hope Emit's not too upset about the ransacked time capsule!

Accuse 3 Sims of Being a Time Traveler

Event Points: 25

Emit is not happy and suspects that another time traveler has stolen items! But who? It’s down to you to find out!

You need to go to 3 different Sims and use the Accuse of Being a Time Traveler interaction on them. Be aware that the Sims you target won’t be pleased about being accused, taking a hit on your relationship level, so watch who you pick if you don’t want to lose friends!

Was it you? Or you? Or even maybe you?

Ponder Time Travel

Event Points: 25

A lot has been going on in these quests, and it’s left your Sim scratching their head. They need a little time to think, and what better way to do that then taking a nice hot shower… or bath… or a restroom break.

Select either a shower, bathtub, or toilet, and choose Ponder Time Travel

While you wait for the second week’s quests to begin, why not enjoy the first set of rewards you’ve unlocked?

Blast From the Past Week 1 Rewards

  • 500 Simoleons: Hooray, free money! This will automatically be banked into your Sim’s household funds after claiming the reward.
  • Relevart Time Walkers: Do you like Emit’s outfit? If you do, you get to unlock one of his clothing items: his boots! These can be found in Create-A-Sim.
  • Missing Sim Milk Carton 1: Milk cartons are a series of collectible items exclusive to the Blast From the Past Event. The first one is Pit Beast, Dweller in the Dark, from The Sims Medieval. Milk cartons appear in your Sim’s Inventory, but can also be bought in Buy/Build Mode.
  • The Yesterday Set: This includes two new floor patterns, found under Wood (Spiral Parquet, §4) and Tile (Retro Edwardian Tile, §4).
  • 25 Satisfaction Points

  • Missing Sim Milk Carton 2: The second milk carton is Ginny, Former Pirate and Sheriff (from MySims).
