An Overview of The Sims 4 SpongeBob's House Kit and SpongeBob Kid's Room Kit

The Sims has seen its fair share of collaborations over the years. H&M, Ikea, Diesel, Moschino, McDonald’s, and even Star Wars. And now we probably have our most intriguing collaboration to date: SpongeBob SquarePants! I’m not going to lie; when I saw the announcement, I thought I’d fallen asleep at my desk late at night and was having some bizarre dream – but nope! The Sims 4 and SpongeBob have officially collaborated, in the form of two brand-new Kits: The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit and The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit.

With this collab completely taking everyone by surprise, we must take a closer look at each Kit to see exactly how SpongeBob has found its place in The Sims 4 and whether it’s a Kit worth getting.

Functioning Objects From SpongeBob’s House Kit

It should be noted that most of the objects included with The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit are for architectural purposes or decoration. However, many of the objects are interactive and functional. You can sleep in SpongeBob’s bed, sit in his armchair and on his sofa; that sort of thing.

There’s also the scuba helmet TV, which actually works as a TV, as does the record player. Sadly, the Magic Conch is just a decorative piece with no interactions whatsoever, which seems like a missed opportunity, but it’s cool that it’s still there. There’s also a framed picture that comes in several designs, so you can have pictures of SpongeBob’s house, the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob and Squidward, and more.

One object that’s well worth a mention and good fun trying out is SpongeBob’s hilarious foghorn clock. Not only can you set the alarm to go off like any other alarm clock in The Sims 4, but when it does goes off, it’s exactly like in the TV show, foghorn and all!

Another thing worth mentioning is that all the objects come in several color and pattern swatches, so although you can accurately recreate SpongeBob’s home, the objects have variations as well in bright cheery colors and patterns.

House Building SpongeBob-Style

The biggest surprise of The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit is that with everything included, you can actually recreate SpongeBob’s house in your game. You’ve got everything you need, such as the pineapple walls, interior walls, porthole windows, SpongeBob’s front door, the pineapple topper, and even the sandy flooring. You’ll still need to actually build SpongeBob’s house using the tools provided in The Sims 4 and your imagination, but everything you need is right there.

My personal favorite architectural feature is probably the wallpaper. I thought it only included the bamboo pattern based on the official screenshots, but it turns out you get a few different colors and patterns, including flowers. The sandy flooring is also a nice touch.

Why wouldn’t you want to live in SpongeBob’s house? It’s just the coolest house ever!

Final Score for The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit

The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit was the biggest surprise announcement of the two SpongeBob-themed Kits. I never thought I’d have the opportunity to build SpongeBob’s pineapple-under-the-sea home in The Sims 4. If I’m honest, I’m not sure how much I’ll use the objects. They seem more like a fun novelty than anything, but going through the items certainly brought back nostalgic memories of watching SpongeBob SquarePants.

As a final score, I’ll give The Sims 4 SpongeBob’s House Kit an 8 out of 10.

The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit Overview

The second surprise SpongeBob-themed Kit is The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit. With this Kit, you can transform your young Sims (or your older Sims, if you wish) into SpongeBob fans by redecorating their bedrooms SpongeBob-style. Not only that, but this Kit also provides some SpongeBob-themed pyjamas!

Although The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit has 19 objects, a few less than SpongeBob’s House Kit, this Kit also includes a few Create-A-Sim items as well, namely a t-shirt, pants, slippers, and dress. Here’s everything you can find in this Kit in Build Mode:

Themed Bedroom Furniture

If there’s one thing I love in The Sims, it’s matching furniture, especially when it comes to kids’ rooms. The Sims 2 was especially good at this, such as Family Fun Stuff and Teen Style Stuff. With The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit, I feel like it’s hit the mark. You can decorate your kids’ rooms in The Sims 4 to make any SpongeBob fan envious, complete with a matching bed, side table, desk, chair, bookcase, toybox, bureau, and activity table. Plus, they all come in a generous selection of swatches in bright and fun colors and patterns.

You can complete the look of your dream SpongeBob bedroom with a rug, cute wall decals, a funky jellyfish ceiling light, plus a table lamp and clock designed after the adorable Gary the Snail.

The two wallpapers complete that SpongeBob look, with two different designs. One is of the iconic flowery sky, and the other is of Bikini Bottom’s landscape, complete with rocks and corals.

Interactive Objects From SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit

Many of the objects that come with SpongeBob Kid’s Room is functional. Of course, there’s the bed, bureau, toybox, and activity table, but there are some fun extras too. For one, there’s the Krusty Krab play set, which is essentially a dolls house. Who wouldn’t want to play pretend with a dollhouse modelled after the Krusty Krab?

There’s also the Sandy Cheeks plushie, which is just too sweet. Sadly, the other SpongeBob and Patrick plushies are just for decoration, which is a shame, but still nice to have. The one thing I do really like about the decorative plushies is that they come in a dozen different swatches, either displaying different emotions or outfits.

SpongeBob Pyjamas

If you like the objects from The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit, it doesn’t stop there. This Kit also includes a handful of Create-A-Sim items! Namely, jammies!

Available for Child Sims and older, you can dress your Sims up in sweet SpongeBob-themed pyjamas, including a t-shirt, pants, and slippers. There’s also a dress for feminine Child Sims. All these items come in a dozen swatches that’s fun to mix and match, showcasing different colors, patterns, and featuring your favorite characters from SpongeBob SquarePants.

If you dress your Sims up in these items, they’ll really look the part in their new SpongeBob-themed room.

Final Score for The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit

Of the two SpongeBob Kits for The Sims 4, I think I can confidently say that SpongeBob Kid’s Room is the one I prefer more. Although it has less items, weirdly enough, it feels like you get a lot more. I adore how all the objects come together to create a fun and vibrant themed bedroom, and the new clothing items are just the cherry on top. I can definitely see myself using these objects and the pyjamas a lot in my game.

As a final score, I’ll give The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit a 9.5 out of 10.

The Sims 4 Bikini Bottom Bundle

You might be wondering what the purpose of The Sims 4 Bikini Bottom Bundle is. Quite simply, it includes both SpongeBob Kits – and more! If you get the Bikini Bottom Bundle, you’ll receive three bonus objects, including:

  • The Goofy Goober Guitar. Yes, the same guitar from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – and it’s functional!
  • SpongeBob-themed aquarium. This is just like any other large-sized rectangular fish tank, but it comes with miniature versions of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward’s houses.
  • SpongeBob-themed pirate ship jungle gym. This jungle gym comes with a figure of SpongeBob SquarePants in a pirate outfit.

If you’re planning to get the SpongeBob Kits for The Sims 4, the Bikini Bottom Bundle is well worth it. Not only do you get these extra items, but you can save money on the Kits. Getting SpongeBob’s House Kit and SpongeBob Kid’s Room Kit separately costs $13.98 together, but if you purchase them with the bundle, it’ll cost $9.99, saving you $4!

If you are going to get the bundle, you don’t have forever: this offer is limited-time, ending on March 3, 2026. The two SpongeBob Kits will still be available for The Sims 4, but you’ll miss out on this money-saving deal and the three bonus items.

Final Verdict: Are The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kits Worth Getting?

At the end of it all, the big question you might be wondering is: are The Sims 4 SpongeBob Kits worth getting? The answer: that is entirely up to you. This is dependent on how much you love SpongeBob SquarePants. As a former SpongeBob fan myself (and I am still fond of the show to this day), I would say yes.

However, if you’re really not into SpongeBob – at all – then you may not be too worried. If you’re neutral about SpongeBob, neither really liking or disliking it, there’s no harm in getting it unless it really doesn’t appeal to you and you can’t see yourself using it enough to make it worth it.

You might think The Sims 4 and SpongeBob SquarePants is an unusual choice for a collaboration, but don’t be too hasty in dismissing it. These Kits are much better than you might first expect, especially if you like SpongeBob and want your Sims to become SpongeBob fans as well.

These SpongeBob Kits are fun, vibrant, and cheerful, not to mention different – and it certainly stands out! Bizarrely though, it meshes quite well with The Sims 4, which is probably why it’s better than expected.
