Restoration Workshop
We’ll start with The Sims 4 Restoration Workshop Kit. If you’ve ever wanted to have a proper home garage workshop in your Sim’s home, this Kit is perfect for that. It comes with a lot of stuff, basically everything you would need to put together such a space – and more! This Kit was actually a bit of a surprise for me. I thought it would be just another Object Kit, but it’s a bit more than that. You could say that this Kit actually provides a bit of new gameplay!
New Objects
Let’s take a look at all the new objects that comes with Restoration Workshop. Altogether, there are 24 new items. These include:
- Display shelving
 - Decorative toolboxes
 - A new woodworking table
 - An upturned bucket you can sit on
 - Crates you can store items in
 - A wood storage box which can make your Sim Focused
 - Sawdust on the floor
 - A functional floor fan
 - A refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffee machine that can be repaired and restored
 - A functioning fuse box and water tank

All these objects come in a generous variety of different colors. The bold colors of red, yellow, green, blue, black, and white, are refreshingly appealing. You can also choose between fresh and new-looking or worn and battered-looking to give your workshop either a newly-installed or well-used look. All these objects honestly look great together and are just what you need for any garage workshop. I can’t think that they missed anything or could have done more. In fact, they did more than I was expecting!
New Gameplay
The Sims 4 Restoration Workshop Kit not only includes everything you need to create a garage workshop, but it also has interactable objects to further enhance the space your Sims will be tinkering around in.
Fixer-Upper Kitchen Appliances
A series of kitchen appliances have been included with this Kit; a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffee machine. Seems a bit odd, right? Well actually, these objects are very special and not like all the other kitchen appliances in The Sims 4.
When you place any of these 4 objects into the world, they automatically become rusty and broken down. Then in Live Mode, you can Repair them to restore these objects to their former glory. How cool is that?! This is perfect if you want to develop the Handiness Skill beyond reading books or using the woodworking table, or waiting ages for something to break down over time. For ages I’ve wanted something like this, an already-broken object that can be fixed up. This is a great place to start, and I’d honestly love to see more objects like this.
Floor Fan
In The Sims 4, we’ve had ceiling fans and also a table fan (from the Get to Work Expansion), but Restoration Workshop adds a different type of fan: a floor fan! And yes, this is functional. You can turn it on, but your Sim has to do it manually, so you need to make sure your Sim can get to it without any obstructions.
Fuse Box and Water Tank
Restoration Workshop also adds a new functioning fuse box and water tank, which you’ll probably be familiar with if you’ve played The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Pack. It’s good to include items that work with other DLC you may have installed.
Woodworking Table, Bucket, and Storage
There’s more! There’s also a new woodworking table to match the other objects that comes with Restoration Workshop. Also, if you like to have objects to store items in, this Kit has some interactable crates and boxes you can put stuff in. The last object worth mentioning is an upturned bucket that your Sims can squat down on. This is really a Miscellaneous seating object, but it’s still neat to have, and it gives your Sims somewhere to sit so they can rest or chill out in their workshop.

Let’s not forget this particular object. If you use the Ponder interaction, your Sim becomes Focused, which helps build Handiness faster.
Final Summary
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by The Sims 4 Restoration Workshop Kit. Handiness is a really useful skill to learn in The Sims 4 and this Kit might inspire you to set up your own garage workshop and get tinkering. The set of objects look really great together and the new fixer-upper kitchen appliances are fun projects to work on to build Handiness with.
If I was to rank this Kit, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Golden Years
Let’s take a look at the next Kit: The Sims 4 Golden Years. This one is a little different for two reasons. One is that it’s a Fashion Kit, not an Object Kit. The other is that it is targeted at Elder Sims, a life stage which I (and many others) feel is sometimes overlooked in The Sims 4. It’s not often that the oldest age group gets something specific, so Golden Years makes a nice change. It also ties in nicely with The Sims 4 base game, but also other DLC.
New Clothing
Golden Years adds a new wardrobe of clothes targeted at Elder Sims. They are distinctive to that age group, but don’t think they’re dowdy or drab or old-fashioned. These clothing items have been thoughtfully tailored to Sims living their twilight years, perhaps reflecting a lifetime of living and experiences, the hobbies they’ve developed, their personalities and styles. Elder Sims can finally shine and be comfortable with these assortment of clothes and accessories.
Let’s break down everything you can find in this Kit. There are 27 individual items altogether:
- A feminine skirt
 - Feminine bottoms
 - Masculine bottoms
 - A selection of masculine and feminine tops, including jackets, cardigans, and shirts
 - A masculine work apron
 - A feminine apron dress
 - A unisex workout outfit
 - A masculine nightwear outfit
 - A feminine nightwear outfit
 - A masculine suit
 - Glasses with eyewear retainers, either worn on the face or around the neck
 - A head scarf
 - A shower cap
 - A toupee
 - A pair of gardening gloves
 - Two necklaces
 - A series of rings on the left hand

At 27 items, that’s quite a decent collection. From looking through the tops, bottoms, and outfits, initially you might not think it’s that much, but when you include the added accessories, it doesn’t seem so bad. What I especially like is that alongside new everyday wear, there’s also something for formal wear, as well as clothes for sleeping in or if your Elder Sim wants to do some working out. I think the Golden Oldies have been generously provided for.
If I had any criticism, I would say I would have maybe liked some new footwear as well, but since the base game of The Sims 4 has quite a collection of these already, perhaps we don’t really need any additional shoes after all.
Final Summary
I’ve always felt bad that Elder Sims have been neglected regarding new content just for them in The Sims 4, so the Golden Years Kit is a nice little addition. It’s especially appealing if you have older Sims in your household and want to give them something new to wear. These new clothing items will breathe new life into them!
As my final score, I would give The Sims 4 Golden Years Kit an 8.5 out of 10.
Kitchen Clutter
Out of the 3 Kits that come out on May 1st for The Sims 4, Kitchen Clutter was the one I was looking forward to the most. I’m not sure why. I quite like clutter items, but a whole Kit with just those items seemed a bit pointless. However, this one looked quite appealing. Now I’ve got my hands on it, I can share my final thoughts: this is still my favorite Kit of the 3.
New Kitchen Objects
Compared to the other 2 Kits previously discussed, Kitchen Clutter has the most new items, at a total of 31. Here’s pretty much everything you get included:
- A new refrigerator, complete with drawings and notes pinned on the door with magnets
 - A tile to put against the wall to decorate a sink or stove
 - A framed kitchen-themed picture
 - A new sink
 - A grocery bag that you can order groceries from
 - Cereal boxes where you can help yourself to bowls of cereal to eat
 - A functioning timer
 - A cookbook stand that you can initiate cooking interactions from
 - Plenty of kitchen-themed clutter items to give any kitchen that lived-in look

Honestly, there’s so much stuff available with Kitchen Clutter, you’ll struggle to fit it all in! And you’ll be spoiled for choice as well because all the items are desirable and will enhance the appearance of your Sim’s kitchen. All the items are great, but a few are stand-out for having some special interactions, just like those with Restoration Workshop.
Interactable Objects
There are some items from Kitchen Clutter to look out for that have some pretty unique features. These aren’t just decorative clutter items to make your kitchen look good and more realistic; they have useful functions too.
Grocery Bag
At first I thought the grocery bag was just a nice decorative item. Wrong! It is that too – but it does include a useful interaction. Not only can you store items in it, but you can also order groceries from it! It’s a pretty neat feature and makes having the grocery bag worthwhile just for that.
Cereal Boxes
Again, I was mistaken in thinking this was just another item used for decoration. With these cereal boxes, you can select them and directly take a bowl of cereal for your Sim to eat! This is pretty useful if your Sims are in a hurry in the morning and want something quick to grab and eat before they rush off to school and work.
Timer
The timer too have a purpose beyond looking good in your kitchen. If you played through the Blast From the Past Event earlier this year (February 2025), you may remember unlocking the classic alarm clock, which actually functions as an alarm clock. This timer from Kitchen Clutter works exactly the same. You can set it to go off, choosing the time. It’s a nice little touch.
Cookbook Stand
The final object with significant unique interactions is the cookbook that rests on a stand. Think this is just a clutter item? Think again! If you select this, you can in fact initiate all the usual cooking interactions you’d normally get from the refrigerator or stove. It’s a great way to get started with cooking, if your Sim plans to make something, imagining them reading a recipe from the book itself.
Final Summary
I’ll be honest, clutter item Kits can be a bit hit-and-miss for me. Some are good, while others I’m not so bothered about. The Sims 4 Kitchen Clutter Kit is a good one. Although there are plenty of kitchen items across The Sims 4 base game and its various DLC, there’s something special about the new items that comes with Kitchen Clutter. It might influence how you go about doing things in the kitchen, now you have a bag you can order groceries from, or a cookbook you can start cooking from, and cereal boxes where you can actually help yourself to cereal.
My final score for The Sims 4 Kitchen Clutter Kit would be an 8.5 out of 10.
Conclusion
I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t 100% sure about the value of these 3 Kits, but after assessing each one, I’m quite confident that they each bring something different to The Sims 4, something worthwhile. Whether it’s new threads for Elder Sims, a workspace for enthusiastic tinkerers, or giving kitchens that extra something.
