Cyberpunk 2077 Beginner’s Guide to Survive Night City

If you are diving into Cyberpunk 2077, then here are some beginner's tips to get you started. Whether it's leveling up or fighting off higher-leveled enemies, we go over various topics in this quick article to help you out. Night City is dangerous, so you have to do all that you can to survive and succeed.

Cyberpunk 2077 Beginner's Guide to Help Get You Started

Night City is a crime-infested metropolis. Whether you are a Nomad, Corpo, or Street Kid, it is dangerous to roam around. You will need some knowledge and power to survive in this colorful world full of violence. In our Cyberpunk 2077 beginner’s guide, we will give you some tips to thrive and have a successful experience in CD Projekt Red’s giant open-world RPG.

1. Don’t Fear Higher Level Enemies

Seeing a red skull above an enemy’s head is a strong indicator that you came across a foe that will decimate you with little effort in any RPG. Some games let you kill these characters, but in others, you can’t do any damage as they are too high of a level. For this stylistic title, you can actually kill anyone, no matter the power difference; it might take some time, though.

For you stealth players, you are going to feel indestructible. Find a place hidden from enemies, preferably above them on a rooftop or some scaffolding. From there, you can either shoot or use your quick hacks like short circuit, which deals some decent damage early on, especially on drones or other robotic threats.

Take advantage of the environment to kill these overpowered people. Overloading a piece of machinery will wipe out most of a room if close enough or using security cameras to survey the area. Either way, you will want to take your time and assess what’s around you.

2. Get Free Vehicles

Calling a car or motorcycle requires you to own it. The game starts you off with one, but you have two choices if you want something better. Either buy it, which is expensive, or complete certain side quests to obtain a free new ride.

To do this, you can do multiple things fairly early on. You will eventually have a prompt to call Jackie’s mom at some point, and after a few things, you will have a fast motorcycle. Another is completing Claire’s questline, The Beast in Me, and letting her get her revenge for a great off-roader. Finally, this may take longer, but wrapping up the arc for Delamain, a taxi service that will open up a series of quests in Act 2.

3. Leveling Skills

You might be a run and gun person, but any stealth action does help you on that end, likewise to any other action. Meaning, you can dump points into assault weapons and explosions, but if you change your mind or want a little bit of hacking or stealth, you can obtain those perks pretty easily. Be open-minded and look into the abilities across each of the skill trees.

4. Upgrade and Scrap

Selling items is a great way to make money. It is how I got my $62,000 car, but most of the best gear you find will be through completing missions or killing beefy enemies. That’s why it might be a good idea to scrap any excess items taking up space in your inventory. The higher the rarity, the better the components you will receive.

Now that you scrapped a bunch of items or scavenged for parts, you can either upgrade or craft better weapons and armor. Personally, I have opted not to craft as I have found better guns and clothing elsewhere, but you should take a look at your options. On the flip side, you can upgrade what you are already using. If you like a gun or that jacket, then give it that boost in its stats to make it relevant for longer. You have to stay in style, right?

5. Avoid the police

Honestly, fighting the police in Cyberpunk 2077 is brutal. Maybe it’s due to the game not being optimized properly, but I swear they come out of nowhere and swarm you when you have a high enough wanted level. On top of that, you will probably not get anything that useful like a sweet gun out of them, at least comparing to what drops from gangsters. It will become an endless fight that will lead to your death, so focus your attention elsewhere. If the fuzz shows up, then run.

That’s it for our Cyberpunk 2077 beginner’s guide. Comment below if this helped you or if you have some tips yourself.
