The Night City Wire Edgerunners Special debuted with some juicy details on what’s in store for all things Cyberpunk 2077. Packed with details on the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, updates to the last and next-gen versions of the game, and details on the upcoming expansions.

In the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners section, a new NSFW trailer for the anime showed off new footage in a grand display of gory carnage and adult content. According to the creator of the anime, the series will be canon for the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, will feature characters from the game, and be a prequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The question of “do you need to have played Cyberpunk 2077 to understand the show” was raised alongside this information. Luckily the answer is no and you can enjoy whichever first without any worries of spoilers.
Studio Trigger creators of Kill La Kill, Promare and Little Witch Academia have faithfully reconstructed Night City to feel like home, you’ll definitely be able to point out many locations from the game and even routes to where the characters may be heading. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will have an original story that consists of 30-minute episodes.
Previously both Studio Trigger and CD PROJEKT RED announced that Akira Yamaoka, best known for composing the Silent Hill games, will be composing the score for the show. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will also be voiced over in 13 different languages: Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (LatAm), Spanish (Spain), and Thai.
Lastly, Netflix revealed some of the voice talents that will be featured in the English Dub version of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Here is a list of them below:

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuts on September 13 with ten episodes only on Netflix.
Cyberpunk 2077: Patch 1.6 (Edgerunners Update)
Patch 1.6 titled the Edgerunners update focuses on the new-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077, providing fixes and new content. Before giving out the majority of features in the update, it was revealed that all future updates will be exclusive to PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The last update for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be the 1.6 Patch, CD PROJEKT RED believe that these versions of the game are in a good place.
In regards to the Edgerunners update, it features various gameplay fixes, free DLC as well as content from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. When it comes to content from the anime, players can discover secrets related to the show around Night City, including new equipment and Photo Mode features.
New Gigs, Weapons and Customization Additions
The wardrobe gets a new feature added, allowing players to change the appearance of outfits without changing any armour stats. You can create up to six outfits using the pieces of clothing you own in any of the apartments or safehouses V owns. New hairstyles are added in the character creation, that players can access when creating their character and via V’s mirror and visiting ripper docs.
Fixers have three new gigs for players to go through, they are titled Concrete Cage Trap, Desperate Measures and Nasty Hangover. Alongside the new gigs, we get six new firearms and five new melee weapons. Here they are below:

Playable Arcade Game and Extra Goodies
That’s right in the 1.6 patch, players can now play a brand new mini-game on an arcade machine. The game in question is called Roach Race, which is named after Geralt’s faithful steed Roach. You can access this mini-game at the arcade machine located in the Northside, Japantown and The Glen apartments. If you enjoy the mini-game, you can also download it on your phone via Android or IOS.
Cross progression features get added allowing your latest saves between platforms to automatically upload to the cloud. This allows players to be able to switch platforms and continue where they left off with ease. You can find more details here about the cross-progression features and limitations.
Lastly, the Photo Mode gets some new features with the addition of Nibbles the cat. To do this you go to the “Pose” tab and choose Nibbles in the “Character” section. This becomes part of Photo Mode after V invites Nibbles to their apartment.

Cyberpunk 2077: Expansion – Phantom Liberty
Finally, we got our first look at the upcoming expansion titled Phantom Liberty in the form of a teaser trailer. Not many details were shown off other than V possibly joining some form of a military faction that as Johnny Silverhand said “Is a bad idea”, so we’ll be possibly working for the bad guys perhaps. However, something we do know is that Keanu Reeves will be returning for the DLC, most likely voicing Johnny Silverhand once more.
Another subject about the upcoming expansion was that it may only be the sole expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. This is understandable that CD PROJEKT RED would be putting a line in the sand when discussing future content due to the game’s controversial launch. Hopefully, if the expansion is successful it will provide inspiration for more content.
Phantom Liberty is currently scheduled for 2023 and will be available for PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Here is the official teaser for the Phantom Liberty expansion below:
