New Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay is interesting, if not entirely new

Earlier today, CD Projekt Red streamed new gameplay for Cyberpunk 2077. The stream opened with a note from CDPR, then it went to V in an ice bath; soon she started Net-running. After Net-running we hear a familiar voice, the same narrator from the 48-minute gameplay last year. The edited-down-for-normal-consumers gameplay finally started, detailing character creation, even more details on the “fluid class system” that is being put as one of the main selling points, and even details on the hacking system. Directly after the hacking system overview, a bit of background to the main story is told, and then “Chippin’ In” ushers the end of the gameplay.

Following the gameplay, there is an interview between the person that introduced the gameplay and multiple level and quest designers. In this interview, the designers talk about how they built the world, and that much of the world is deliberately focused on separately. Other than that it is essentially retreading on the same things we’ve learned before. But then they hit us with the specifics on “Life Paths,” aka “Origins”.

Video of the gameplay from the livestream can be found below:

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release April 16, 2020.
