After a teaser with a single flashlight, Behaviour Interactive has finally announced that Remedy’s Alan Wake will officially be thrown on the roster of playable Dead by Daylight characters on January 30th. However, on PC he’s currently available in the public test build. Behaviour has also brought in Matthew Porretta, the voice of Alan Wake, to record numerous original voice lines and and cries. He also took the role further and recorded material for the marketing assets such as the launch trailer, CGI Trailer, and Spotlight Trailer.
We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can’t wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog.

Alan Wake’s Perks
Diving further into the game, Alan will have three character perks due to his encounters in Bright Falls and beyond. The first of which is Champion of Light. This will make Alan faster when he’s holding a flashlight, gaining 50% haste. If you can blind the killer, they will gain the hindered status effect which will temporarily slow them down. The perk has a cooldown of 80/70/60 seconds. A tip that’s provided is that you could pair this with Haddie Kaur’s “Residual Manifest” perk. This will also give the killer the blindness status effect.
The second perk for Alan is called “Boon: Illumination”. Illumination allows all nearby survivors to see auras of generators and chest up to 24 meters. When a boon totem is lit, he will also cleanse and bless totems 6/8/10% faster. They suggest pairing this with Haddie Kaur’s Overzealous perk to raise your efficiency on generators after spotting them.
Finally, the “Deadline” perk activates when you’re injured. This will increase the amount of skill checks that will appear by 6/8/10% more while repairing or healing. However, the penalty if you miss for missing them is reduced by 50% giving an extra layer of survivability. Another tip that given is to pair the perk with skill check related perks, as it could show some interesting results.
New Features
Of course, that’s not the only thing in the public build. The build also features huge changes for The Hillbilly and The Onryo. Maps and perks have also been tweaked, and a new setting can be found under options. Players can now adjust their field of view with a slider to reduce motion sickness and other accessibility issues. This affects the perks “Shadowborn” and “Monitor and Abuse”.
The generators are getting a major update,. They can only suffer eight regression events maximum. This includes kicks, addons, and perk related regressions (survivors failing at skill checks do not counts towards this). A survivor must repair 5% to stop a generator from regressing. The generators do not regress while repairs are in progress. These changes affect the perks “Hex:Ruin”, “Surge”, “Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance”, “Oppression”, and “Overcharge”.
