Top 10 Skyrim Player Home Mods

I became a Dragonborn, savior of Tamriel, leader of the Mages College,  the Companions, Thieves Guild but all I got was this lousy Breezehome. And a cave. And an ordinary room. We know that Dragonborn are highly practical, caring only about saving the world and kicking the life out of Nazeem but didn’t you ever look at your possessions at the end of your quest and said: “Well, this sucks.” We did, so we turned to the mother of all fixes – mods. So here are our top Skyrim home mods that will make you feel like the richest (or/and coziest) bastard on Nirn.

Skyrim Nakahara Akaviri House Mod

Starting off light with something completely different from the usual medieval/Norse Skyrim architecture. This mod adds a simple yet highly atmospheric and beautiful player home in the far east style of the Akaviri.

Skyrim Azura's Dawn Mod

Let’s switch it up to something a bit more luxurious with Azura’s Dawn home mod which adds a huge mansion near Riften. It doesn’t feature a quest to obtain it and is honestly kind of blank in terms of unique features but it more than makes up for it by looking absolutely beautiful.

Skyrim Vortai Home In The Sky Mod

Have a super powerful character? Well, now you can channel your Skyrim Zeus by taking residence in a full-on Olympus-like home in the sky.  It’s actually more like a palace in the sky. Aside from all the comforts of a usual player home and looking absolutely unique and breathtaking, it features a boss that will really test the limits of your power.

Skyrim Lake Ilinalta Estate Mod

Aesthetics and luxury rolled in one. Lake Ilinalta Estate brings a beautiful island manor to the world of Skyrim, near Riverwood. Aside from the luxury interiors, there are also servants and a full-fledged dock with a ship outside.

Skyrim Dragon Tree Temple Mod

Dragon Tree Temple is another unique Skyrim home mod that adds a beautiful and elaborate tree house for you to live in. Oh, it also adds a huge tree on which it is built so you can be all like: “I can see my house from here” wherever you go. The mod is extremely thematic and atmospheric. Perfect for a Dragonborn summer retreat.

Skyrim Caranthir Tower Reborn Mod

Caranthir Tower Reborn mod is a mod reminiscent of Oblivion Wizard’s Tower DLC. Perfect for a mage character. Obtaining access to it is locked behind a short quest after which you have to make it operational. After you make everything work, the tower itself, besides looking great has everything a mage would need and some unique features I won’t spoil as the half of fun with this mod is pure exploration. All in all, a much better digs for an Archmage than the single room in College of Winterhold.

Skyrim Legend Of The Eagles Nest Mod

Eagles nest is a completely lore-friendly fortress situated in the mountains between Riverwood and Whiterun. After a quest to rebuild it you will be in possession of one of the most atmospheric and detailed player homes in Skyrim.

Skyrim Radun Castle Mod

Skyrim has plenty of castle mods but I feel like Radun Castle is above most of them in terms of lore friendliness and quality. It’s a much more believable place in terms of building, room and furniture placement while still remaining aesthetically pleasing and a joy to spend time at with all the features you would expect from a castle retreat.

Skyrim Leveler's Tower Mod

Technically listed under cheat mods, Leveler’s tower is nonetheless an amazing home mod with so many features that will blow your socks off. Really, there are too many to list. You could spend a couple of hours here exploring and playing around with its features. There’s a functional arena with spawnable enemies, working gardens, auto sorters, weapons, armor, stat changing stations just to name a few. It’s an absolutely amazing home mod that always finds its way to my load order.

Skyrim Dev Aveza & Asteria Mod

Two awesome and unique player housing mods take the top spot. Airship Dev Aveza is a fully flyable airship/player home while Asteria is fixed in place but more much more dense and detailed so take your pick. What else can I say? I just told you that you can basically be a flying pirate in Skyrim and you still need convincing? You mad.

Skyrim Ravens Breezehome Mod

Well, I did mention Breezehome so as an added bonus here is a mod to improve it. Ravens Breezehome mod massively increases your will to actually spend time there by retexturing the exterior, interior, adding a garden, a tower, all with custom furniture and a cozy feel to boot.

As with the mods above the updated list also aims to help you find the absolute best home mods for Skyrim so you can roleplay a multitude of different characters and keep your game fresh. Want to be a regular ol’ citizen? Sure. How about a rich landlord? Or maybe a king? We got you covered.

Skyrim White River Cottage Player Home Mod

Starting the list small we have the White river cottage house mod.  This cozy house just outside Riverwood area is the perfect little place for a more lore-friendly character with which you roleplay a regular ol’ joe or perhaps a richer landlord who’s come to his summer retreat. Don’t be fooled by the small size as this house comes equipped with a kitchen, lounge, master bedroom, followers bedroom, children’s bedroom, smithing facilities, crafting facilities, alchemy and enchanting areas and a large multi-purpose relaxing room with a pool.

Skyrim Radun Castle Player Home Mod

Going from a regular joe to a vassal. Radun castle is a perfect little, lore-friendly and believable two-tier settlement. It’s not just believable in the confines of Skyrim but also the real world as the place was created with functionality and the ability to withstand attacks in mind. To that end, it features guards, a motte-and-bailey and even a working drawbridge. Besides that, it has all the NPC, merchants and housing options you could need as a proud owner of this awesome place.

Skyrim Halamshiral Mage Tower Player Home Mod

Halamshiral is a beautiful little wizard tower located in a swampy area near solitude. Aside from a unique exterior and a guardian dragon the interior is a perfect fit for a bookworm mage and is jam-packed with little details and all the features you’d expect from a home like display spaces for unique items, a follower and even custom music when inside.

Skyrim Antennaria Player Home Mod

Antennaria is a overgrown cavern temple home. Don’t let the cave part fool as it is entered via a bridge in front of a waterfall and feature a tower on one of the best locations in Skyrim for some gorgeous views. The interior itself is one of the most atmospheric home mods to ever grace your game. It’s packed not only with lush vegetation but beautiful architecture with all the rooms expected of a great home.

Skyrim Elisdriel Tree House Player Home Mod

Get in touch with nature and roleplay a multitude of characters with Elisdriel tree house. Whether you want to be a druid, archer, wood-elf or a mage, this insanely detailed and atmospheric tree house has something for all. Whichever one you decide, you’ll have a beautiful little abode to situate yourself in.

Skyrim Dragon Mountain Hall Player Home Mod

Sovngarde sure is an awesome place but don’t you just hate it that you spend a minuscule amount of time there? Sure, it’s meant to be a special little slice of the game that can’t be repeated quite easily. However, if you are anything like me, you’re gonna want to eat another piece of that cake. Luckily, Dragon mountain hall brings Sovngarde to you and puts it on top of the tallest mountain in Skyrim for you to enjoy as your player house. I can’t imagine a more fitting place for a savior of the world to live.

Skyrim Whitestone Spire Player Home Mod

Whitestone spire is a player home mod which adds a new location to the top of a peak east of Markath. A unique dragon palace on the outside and a lavish designer home on the inside featuring a very original use of Skyrim assets to bring this really standout player home to life.

Skyrim Aemer's Refuge Player Home Mod

Aemer’s refuge is a beautiful stone player home carved in the side of a mountain. Not only is it expertly made in terms of room placement but it’s also insanely atmospheric and features some of the best unique features in a player home like portals, lifts, friendly summonable spirits and even a hidden vault for you to discover and reveal its secrets.

Skyrim Ayleid Palace Player Home Mod

Remember Oblivion? How it had those pesky Ayleid palaces scattered about and you just knew that if you enter – you’re probably not getting out for the next hour since it was basically a maze-like death trap? Sure you remember. You probably hated those places as much as I did. Well, with this home mod, you’ll have a completely different reason for spending an hour inside since it will now be your awesome home. White marble and green crystal is the name of the game and every room is lavish and beautiful. A perfect place for an Elf overlord.

Skyrim Khune Redguard House Player Home Mod

Khune – Redguard house mod might not be the biggest player housing mod when it comes to sheer size but sure is the biggest one when detail is concerned. It’s a highly thematic, unique and beautiful player house that’s a sight to behold both from the outside as well as inside. Stepping into it is like walking into another, oriental world that’s just great for roleplaying any type of character.

Skyrim Elianora's Breezehome Player Home Mod

Vanilla Breezehome sucks, but its location is undeniably awesome and it sure holds a special place in my heart for being the first time you get your own property in the game. So as with the last time, an extra entry on the list is one to make Breezehome an awesome and beautiful place to hang your helmet. Expanded in every way, with this mod, it will finally become a place you’ll enjoy spending time in.

So that’s our list of Skyrim home mods. Covered here are a variety of mods to help you settle into your chosen role without breaking immersion too much. How do you feel about our list and what player home mods would make your top 10 list? Sound off in the comments below.

Very curious to know if you included Riverside Lodge or Leaf Rest in your evaluation list? Also, if you’re interested, there is a mod on Nexus called “Expanded Towns and Cities”, in which the older versions [ I have a copy of v13.4 ] that not only includes some incredibly elegant extensions to a number of different locations on the map, but in several of the extensions there are player homes to be had.

I can’t believe you didn’t include Clearsky Hideout. It has an amazing backstory, and everything has an animation. You clear ashes, light a fire, clear the table, serve soup, read a book, three different bath animations, and the best part…you sleep UNDER the covers in the bed. The subquests are lore friendly, and so well done, I wish the previous owners could become part of the quest line, if there is ever a Skyrim VI. I won’t give it away, but there is a stable (with a secret!) a forge, a grave (another part of the storyline), a lookout/hangout atop the house, and it’s just such a totally immersive place. Absolutely the best house ever. You could spend hours there discovering new things. Plus, there are a lot of animations for your follower, who will use the forge, make potions you can try (hey, the effects are unknown…take a chance!) and both of you can sleep in the same bed. There is a shrine to Mara for buffage, so many things to discover. Just download it.
