The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC’s New Business Is Great

The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC welcomes the new salvage yard to the cast of businesses already present in the game. The Avenger upgrade from the Summer DLC in 2023 is ineffective for making money and doesn't hold a candle to earning potential of the salvage yard. Let's discuss this new business and how it works.

The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC's New Business Is Great

GTA Online Chop Shop is actually a really good Winter DLC.

It is quite cool how Rockstar North can still come through with quality content updates for this 10 year old game. This new update is joined by the inclusion of wildlife in GTA Online. As well as a new, less intuitive interaction menu. Many are up in arms about the changes to this menu. But the old one has been due for a rework, this will just have to do. Players have the ability to transfer their vehicles between garages from this menu now too.

11 new vehicles available for purchase on day one also accompany the new salvage yard which comes to GTA Online as a contender for one of the best passive money businesses in the game right now. Let’s talk about why this new business is so incredible.

Many speculate that the GTA Online Chop Shop DLC contains cars which will be in GTA VI Like the FR36 on the cover or this Turismo Omaggio.

GTA Online Chop Shop Business Overview

I have been grinding money using the GTA Online Money Grinder’s Guide 2023 XBOX X|S / PS5 to get the scratch together for the business which costs 5.5 million when purchasing with max upgrades and in the best location. (Strawberry)

Wall Safe: Best Part of GTA Online Chop Shop

Inside the business is a safe that doesn’t require the $750,000 upgrade to access. Without this upgrade though, the safe can only hold $100,000 dollars. With the upgrade the safe’s capacity is $250,000. This safe fills up proportionately to how many tow truck missions the player completes each in-game day cycle. (48 Minutes) It maxes out at $24,000 an in-game day when both two truck missions have been completed.

The fact that the Salvage Yardhas a passive money safe is actually kind of crazy. The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC is amazing for money grinders.

Tow Truck

The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC features a new tow truck which costs $650,000 for a rusty version and $1,100,000 for a clean one. The missions involving this truck are so easy and often never further than two miles round trip. The player can only do two of these missions per in-game day. And the missions play like that one story mode mission with Franklin where he tows cars.

The GTA Online Chop Shop DLC does not give players the ability to tow even vehicle with the tow truck. Only cars that are mission objectives can be latched onto.

Salvage Staff

These cars need to be salvaged by staff in order to be profitable. The salvage yard staff with no upgrades takes 96 minutes to turn the cars you tow into cash. But with a $625,000 upgrade, the staff can cash you out in half the time. $30,000-$40,000 seems to be the number that players earn per car when completing tow missions. This gives the player the potential to make $60,000- $80,000 on top of $24,000 from their wall safe every in game day if they are willing to drive a truck around for a couple of minutes every hour.

Be sure to Buy the Salvage Yard in Strawberry. I have read lots about players dealing with man eating dogs and gang attacks at the cheaper locations.

Vehicle Heist Contracts

The player also gains the contact of fan favorite character from the GTAIV: TBOGT, Yusuf Amir. The Middle Eastern real estate mogul who loves the song “Arab Money” by Busta Rhymes. Which has to be one of the songs of all time.

He will set you up with his cousin Jamal who is equally quippy and lovable. This NPC manages the new business and will guide the player through setups and finales for new vehicle mini heists. These are totally new to the GTA Online Chop Shop DLC.

Jamal is a great Rockstar Character and is easily S tier when compared to other NPCs like Sessanta and KDJ.

These robberies are akin to the autoshop contracts. The player must do several setups and a heist finale before receiving payment. In this case though, the payment is a vehicle which can be either sold to Yusuf Amir via a delivery mission to the docks or salvaged by staff for a reduced price.

Are the Heists Worth it?

These missions are not really worth the time of someone who has found a way to optimize making money in GTA Online. But they are fun to do for the experience of playing something new. These vehicle robberies feature new cutscenes and are far superior to the Avenger missions from Los Santos Mercenaries in Summer 2023.

While running one of these heists, the bunker, acid lab and nightclub safe will generate lots of money in the background. I suppose this is another reason why these missions aren’t a complete waste of time.

I like them. The only real complaint I have with the heists is that only three heists are available each event week. Players can only complete each of the three contracts one time before new ones replace them.

An in-game week cooldown feels more appropriate, no?

GTA Online Chop Shop Introduces Insane New Synergies

The safe inside of the salvage yard has a popularity system like the nightlclub that is invisible. Which means that the player must consistently do tow truck missions or vehicle heists to get the most amount of money per day which is $24,000.

I don't understand how doing whatever this is turns over more profit than simply selling the car at Los Santos Customs but who cares?

This business which pays 24,000 per in-game day passively at max popularity joins the nightclub which makes $50,000 a day. The arcade which makes $5,000 more, and the agency which can generate another $20,000 an in-game day. That’s close to 100 grand the player nets each hour just for playing the game. This business really is the cherry on top when it comes to passive money of GTA Online

The experience of playing this video game after dropping 5.5 million to own the property is magnificent. I spent the big ticket as soon as I made enough to make the purchase. $75,000 is all I had left after buying my salvage yard. I made that 5.5 million dollars back in 2 nights of playing. All by incorporating the new heists and tow truck missions into my solo money guide from before this DLC. A player who owns every business in GTA Online with max upgrades makes so much money per hour in 2024 if they are optimizing it’s insane.
