Ghost of Tsushima Legends: Beginners Guide to Classes

Sucker Punch Productions announced that their critically acclaimed game, Ghost of Tsushima, is getting a massive update. The update includes a new game plus and a co-op mode called Ghost of Tsushima Legends. It’s something that Sucker Punch has wanted to do for a long time, and on the plus side, this addition is free. It’s a mix of group story missions that detail Tsushima’s mythic tales and survival missions that have you facing waves of enemies. When you first start, the game gives you a brief tutorial of four classes to provide you with a taste before you choose one. Each class specializes in an aspect of the single-player campaign and comes with two abilities, a class ability and an ultimate one.

Don’t freight over the decision too much, you’ll unlock a new class at rank eight, 16, and 24. Of course, choosing your first class is an important step to becoming the best warrior possible. Let this guide help you in knowing which class is for you in Ghost of Tsushima Legends.

Samurai

A Samurai charges headfirst into battle.

The samurai doesn’t go for the methods of the ghost; they go headfirst into battle. This class is best for players who are used to the brilliant katana fighting from the single-player campaign. The samurai class comes with two abilities that help with combat and healing. Hachiman’s Fury lets you instantly kill three enemies and is useful when you’re overwhelmed by enemies. Spirit Pull drains health from your enemies as you’re fighting them. If you prefer to take on enemies with your sword in combat, this class is best suited for you.

Hunter

A hunter does their damage from a distance.

A hunter would rather deal damage from across the battlefield than up close. You can snipe enemies with your bow and arrow from a distance. The hunter has the standard arrow and the Staggering Arrow, which acts as the Explosive Arrow from the single-player campaign. If you’re overwhelmed, you can use the Eye of Uchitsune ability to shoot three headshots at once. Players that feel comfortable using archery in the game will feel right at home with the hunter class.

Assassin

Go full Ghost mode.

Go full Ghost mode.

This class fully embraces the dishonorable nature of the ghost. You’ll use stealth on your enemies as you deal with killing blows without them even knowing it. The main ability is the Toxic Vanish – using the Toxic Vanish is similar to a smoke bomb, but packs a more lethal punch. The ultimate ability is Shadow Strike, and it allows you to assassinate three enemies from a distance. The Shadow Strike has more strategy than the samurai’s Hachiman’s Fury as you can choose which enemies to take on instead of letting it happen instantly. If you prefer using the ghost techniques from the campaign, then the assassin class is for you.

Ronin

You'll want a Ronin on your team.

The ronin class could be the most useful for group survival missions as they’re the healers. It doesn’t mean that they’re not fighters, as the ronin’s main ability is to summon a Ghost Dog that will fight alongside you. If some of your team members are down, you can use your ultimate ability, Breath of Izanami, which will revive your teammates quickly. Having a ronin in your group could be the difference-maker to success.
