Darren Bridges, Senior Game Designer at Sucker Punch Productions, shared the announcement and first details of the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode on a PlayStation blog before it also went across the game’s social media.
Introducing #GhostOfTsushima: Legends, a new co-op multiplayer mode inspired by Japanese mythology that will be a free download for Ghost of Tsushima owners this fall!

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends doesn’t involve Jin or any of the characters he encounters in the game’s single-player campaign. Instead, the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer involves legendary warriors who’ve been spoken of in stories by the people of Tsushima, featuring locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology. Whereas the single-player campaign focuses on the open world and enjoying the majesty of Tsushima’s natural beauty, Legends is a haunting and fantastical emphasis on combat and action.
The Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer offers variety in how you can play it as well. You can play in groups of 2-4, with friends or via online matchmaking, as one of four different classes; Samurai, Hunter, Ronin or Assassin, each with unique abilities and enjoy story missions that escalate in difficulty as you go. You’ll be able to do more with the max number of players it seems, as Legends also features wave-based survival missions that pit you against Tsushima’s toughest enemies, along with a challenging four-player raid that will be added shortly after Legends launches.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be available as a free download for Ghost of Tsushima owners this fall.
