Here we are once again ending another month of brilliant game releases. Now entering May, there are more games to highlight for your consideration. However, we’ll give a quick recap of how April went. Last month had some solid releases with the controversial release of Stellar Blade containing exquisite swordplay with a protagonist that could rival 2B from Nier Automata.
We also got our hands on Sker Ritual which was practically a homage to Call of Duty‘s classic zombies mode. We got the newest game from the creators of the Ori games. No Rest For The Wicked launched into early access, giving us a hardcore adventure with their beautiful art style. Finally, we got to see the release of stop-motion adventure game, Harold Halibut showing us a wonderful journey in space.
Now we look towards May when more games are set to release. We have a few ports coming to numerous platforms. One such port is PlayStation’s samurai adventure game that was highly received on release. Alongside these are some exclusives, indie games, and a free-to-play game returning. Well let’s not delay any further, here are eight games to look out for in May (2024).

To stay on top, you’ll need to regulate the level of suspicion surrounding your business. This will include securing your staff’s loyalty, influencing politicians through bribery/intimidation, keeping the police at bay, and staying two steps ahead of your competition. Alongside the suspicion levels, you’ll also handle the horrific experiments underground. Equip your staff with the right equipment to venture off to hazardous areas keeping external disturbances at bay. Twenty years after the original game on the Nintendo GameCube, the remaster contains revamped graphics, an updated soundtrack, and numerous gameplay additions. Things, like updated quick-travel pipes and a Partner Ring to swap characters in a jiffy, have been added. There are some additional improvements too, visit the Battle Master if you need help with combat, access a hint system if you’re stuck, equip the Nostalgic Tunes badge to play using the original soundtrack, and more!
Multiversus
The next pick is the free-to-play platform fighter Multiversus, developed by Player First Games. Originally released in Beta last year, it was taken off online stores and the servers were shut down. Now it’s ready for full release with the previous roster returning alongside new characters. Get ready to fight when Multiversus releases on May 28th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
What We Know About Multiversus
The roster for Multiversus works similarly to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros where the entire roster is themed after multiple IPs. Play as characters from all across the Warner Bros lineup. Previous starting roster characters return alongside the seasonal additions. These include Iron Giant, Superman, Bugs Bunny, Black Adam, Rick and Morty, and more. There will also be new characters coming though none have been confirmed yet. However, characters will receive new attacks and moves alongside general character reworks that’ll spice up gameplay.
Alongside new characters, we’re also getting brand new stages that’ll be themed after a Warner Bros property. So far two have been revealed, Townsville Hall (Powerpuff Girls) and The Laboratory (Dexter’s Laboratory). Multiversus will also have a new look to the game due to it now running on Unreal Engine 5. There will also be some form of PvE mode that will offer additional ways of playing and will provide unique rewards. Most likely after launch, Multiversus will continue its seasonal plans with new characters, stages, and cosmetics available either via update or battle pass.
Capes
Our final pick for May is a superhero strategy game called Capes, developed by Spitfire Interactive. In this turn-based strategy game, Superheros clash in a city ruled by villains. Twenty years later, a new team of heroes will rise to take on the supervillain overlords. Play through a collection of campaign and patrol missions where you’ll face a multitude of villains. In side missions, you’ll be able to unlock additional heroes, gain skill points, tackle challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of your character’s backstories.
Essentially, Capes plays similar to turn-based strategy games like XCOM where you’ll position your units and use abilities to take out enemies. Recruit heroes to your roster with their own unique powers, backstories, and designs. Every hero plays differently meaning you won’t play each character the same and will have to adapt their powers and abilities in your strategies. In each mission, you’ll take four heroes into battle, each hero will gain a unique team-up ability from each of their allies, allowing them to work together to take advantage of their unique powers. The combat isn’t based on random numbers or lurking behind cover. Instead, the choices you make with your powers will decide the outcome of the mission.
