With only a month standing between now and when we get to experience the next chapter in Ellie and Joel’s story, PlayStation Blog has revealed a series of Limited Edition PS4 Pro products to coincide with The Last of Us Part II.
The main attraction is the stunning matte finish Limited Edition PS4 Pro, which has been engraved with Ellie’s tattoo depicting a decorated butterfly in front of a couple of ferns. The game’s logo is also printed on the front of the system’s middle tier. This console will be bundled in with a similarly customised Limited Edition DualShock 4 controller, which has the fern wrapped around the right handle and the logo plastered onto the touch pad.
This console bundle will also include a physical copy of The Last of Us Part II as well as some other goodies like a code to redeem a special dynamic theme and avatars. The Limited Edition DualShock 4 controller will also be released separately.
Naughty Dog’s Art Director, John Sweeney, who had a central role in conceiving the Limited Edition products, feels the design “honors the passion of our incredible fans and that we ourselves would be proud to own”.
When we first revealed The Last of Us Part II, we had no idea how quickly fans would embrace Ellie’s tattoo. Within a day, we started seeing real-life versions showing up on social media and fans have been sharing photos of their new tattoos with us week after week ever since.
In addition to the Limited Edition PS4 Pro and DualShock 4, there will also be a Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset styled in a steel black matte finish with crimson inner ear cups and featuring the fern tattoo and game logo. And to round out this wave of The Last of Us Part II items, there will also be a Limited Edition Seagate 2TB Game Drive decorated with the same tattoo and logo.
The USD pricing for each of the items will be $399.99 for the console bundle, $64.99 for the standalone DualShock 4, $99.99 for the headset, and $89.99 for the external hard drive. They will be out at the same time as The Last of Us Part II on June 19, 2020. However, you may want to jump on the pre-order quickly with the limited stock available.

This follows a trend during the PS4 generation of Sony releasing special edition consoles and controllers for their first-party titles. While I like the subdued, minimalist look of The Last of Us Part II products, it is a tad disappointing they are all based around Ellie’s tattoo with little variation in style. However, this is a far more positive announcement surrounding the game compared to the horrible leaking scandal that occurred a few weeks ago.
The Last of Us Part II will release on June 19, 2020.
