Although gameplay was revealed during PlayStation’s last E3 conference back in June of 2018, it certainly feels like it’s been a long time since we last saw anything official regarding The Last of Us: Part II. The fact that it was initially revealed way back in 2016 may play some small part in it, but we’re certainly not going to complain about more news or the hype Naughty Dog generated with teasers they dropped this week. Especially with a possible The Last of Us: Part II release date reveal.
In a post via PlayStation blog, Sony announced that the next State of Play will be broadcasted live on Tuesday the 24th of September, 1:00pm PST / 4:00pm ET. For those who don’t know, State of Play is Sony’s new platform which aims to enlighten followers with in relation to PlayStation-centric news via a short live broadcast. Fans of PlayStation can tune into the live show via social media platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
Following Sony’s announcement, Naughty Dog were fairly quick to tease with some visuals via social media, suggesting that we may be seeing some gameplay footage during the upcoming broadcast, or better yet, some information in relation to a release date.

During all the hype, Swedish retailer Softridge may have leaked the release date for the much anticipated title, displaying it as the 28th of February, 2020. Good news for all you collector nerds, as the website also suggests that there will be a Special Edition, and also a Collector’s Edition!
It isn’t the first time we’ve seen retailers leak release dates with a lack of accuracy, so as is with all leaks, take it with a grain of salt. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for some official information, as all is likely to be revealed on the 24th of September.
