The Last of Us Part II Snags Over 200 Game of the Year Awards

The Last of Us Part II has received the honor of earning over 200 Game of the Year awards. This amazing achievement has not been seen since Santa Monica Studio's God of War in 2018. Awards received by The Last of Us Part II come from both critics and gamers alike.

Set in a dystopian world where a pandemic has turned much of the population into bloodthirsty monsters, the long-awaited sequel features a woman named Ellie who goes on a quest for revenge after losing something very close to her. Despite much controversy upon release, The Last of Us Part II has enjoyed fantastic sales and critical reception. This has been made even more apparent since the game has received over 200 Game of the Year awards.

Gameawards.net, a site which tracks awards received by video games, has noted that The Last of Us Part II has received 203 Game of the Year awards. This includes 142 media awards and 61 readers’ choice awards. Some of the organizations that have awarded The Last of Us Part II are the Golden Joystick Awards, the Titanium Awards, The Game Awards and PlayStation Blog.

Other games in 2020 that won big include Hades which received 45 Game of the Year awards, Ghost of Tsushima which received 34 Game of the Year awards and Animal Crossing: New Horizons which received 19 Game of the Year awards. The last game to receive over 200 Game of the Year awards is another PS4 exclusive, God of War, which is developed by Santa Monica Studio and was released in 2018.

For those who have not gotten enough of The Last of Us Part II, they can look forward to the multiplayer mode for the game which Naughty Dog has promised is in the works.

A release date for it has yet to be announced.
