How to Create Levels in Fall Guys Creative Construction

Fall Guys Season 4: Creative Construction has been a real game changer. Its new creative mode has giving players the ability to design and publish their own levels. As a result, there has been an exponential growth in the amount and variety of levels available to play. That’s all well and good, but how does all this work in practice? This guide is here to take you through the process step by step.

For more about Fall Guys‘ new Creative Construction, check out my previous article on how it’s opened up a world of possibilities for players.

Accessing Fall Guys Creative Mode

You can access Creative Mode through this new tab with the spanner icon below.

Once there, simply select ‘Create New’, choose the mode you want to design and the theme. At the moment you can only designing races in either the classic or the new Digital theme. However, the ‘?’ box promises many more choices in the future!

If you are playing on a console, make sure that the button prompts match your controller as it will sometimes to default to PC controls.

If this happens, go back to Fall Guy‘s main game screen, go to settings and controller settings. From there, you will notice some prompts at the bottom of the screen. Press the button to the left of the prompt ‘RESET’. For PlayStation, this will be the Square button. You should now be able to create a new level with the controller you have.

Level Creation

Now you’re ready to use Fall Guys Creative! To start off with, you’ll want to check out what objects you can use. To do that, use the button prompt by the word ‘Objects’. From there, you will see a variety of objects in six categories. These are platforms, blocks and barriers, moving surfaces, obstacles, decorations and interactions. You will notice each object has a number on it. That is the cost of that object. You have a budget of 1,000 points to spend on objects, and a meter in the top right to keep track of this.

Different objects will have different properties. Some of the platforms, for example, can be sized however you want by moving the cursor or toggling up or down when placing it. Others with have different variants you can find by pressing up or down on them. Once placed you can move objects around, and move them around using the 3D rotate feature. Moving surfaces and obstacles have multiple settings in terms of size, timings, direction of movement, speed, power etc.

You also can move multiple objects at once by going into Tools and toggling ‘Multi-Select’ on. Once you’ve done that, press and hold the paint selection button, dragging the cursor across the objects you want to move and then releasing the button. Now you will be able to move the selected objects as if they were one.

When creating levels you can try them out at any time by pressing the play button displayed at the top of the screen. When you do this, you will spawn in either at the starting line or wherever your cursor is on a surface they can stand on.

You can also save levels whenever you want by going into settings and selecting ‘Save’. If you would like to continue working on your level later, simply go back to creative mode from the main game screen and select ‘Load’. In the settings menu, you can give your level a name, type a description for it and, when you’re ready, publish it!

Publishing Your Level

Before you can publish your level there’s a few things you need to do. Firstly you will need to make sure you have completed the checklist on the top left of the screen. In the case of designing a race, you will just need to make sure you have a start and a finish line.

Once you have done this, you can select publish. You will automatically spawn on your starting line and will be tasked with completing your level in 4 minutes to prove that it works. If you are able to complete your level in the time limit, you will be prompted to either publish it if you are happy with it, or cancel, if you think it still needs work.

Once published, you will get an image of a very happy builder bean and a share code. I would recommend take a screenshot of this image or writing the code down so that you can share it with other people.

Playing Custom Levels

Sometimes players’ levels will be featured in ‘Live Shows’. You can play your level and many other players’ shows by switching from ‘Live Shows’ to ‘Custom Shows’. Unless someone is inviting you to their game, you will need to press ‘Host’ in order to set up a lobby.

Once in the lobby, you can choose to play levels on your own or invite people using your friend list or by sharing your lobby code with others. The lobby code will be hidden at the top of the screen and there will be a button prompt to make it visible. With your lobby code, other players can join your game by going to Custom Shows, selecting ‘Join’ instead of ‘Host’ and inputting that code.

Next, go to Show Selector. If you want to play your own level, it will be under the tab ‘My Rounds’. If you would like to play someone else’s level, go to the ‘Search’ tab, follow the ‘Enter Code’ button prompt and enter the code. You can also play a selection of other player created levels levels under the ‘Discover’ tab, and if there are any you particularly like, you can tag them as a favorite for later.
